How long for New York Unemployment debit card to arrive after approval?
Just got approved for unemployment benefits but still waiting on my debit card to arrive in the mail. Anyone know how long this usually takes? Already claimed for 2 weeks but no money yet and getting worried about bills.

Usually takes about 7-10 business days after your first payment is released. Make sure your address is correct in the system tho, that can mess things up.

•Call the KeyBank number to check if its been mailed. Sometimes they mess up and you need a new one sent

I had trouble getting through to check on my card status but found a solution. Used claimyr.com to get through to an agent. Costs $20 but worth it cause they handle the hold time. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Yeah fr it works! saved me hours of calling. They just stay on hold and call you when they get someone

You can also set up direct deposit online while waiting for the card. way faster tbh

Pro tip: Once u get the card, transfer the $ out right away. Those KeyBank cards have crazy fees if u use them at non-KeyBank atms 💯

Had the same issue last month! My card took almost 3 weeks to arrive. Definitely check that your address is correct in the system first - log into your NY.gov account and verify everything under "Contact Information." If it's been over 2 weeks, call KeyBank at 1-866-295-2955 to check if the card was actually mailed out. Sometimes there are delays on their end that they don't tell you about.

•Thanks for the KeyBank number! I've been trying to find the right contact info. Did you have to wait on hold for a long time when you called them? Just want to mentally prepare myself lol

•Yeah the hold time was brutal - like 45 minutes when I called. But honestly it was worth it because I found out my card had been returned to sender due to a typo in my apartment number. They were able to fix it and send a new one right away. Might be worth trying that claimyr service people mentioned if you don't want to sit on hold!

I'm in the same boat - got approved 10 days ago but still no card! Reading through these comments, sounds like I should double check my address in the system and maybe call KeyBank if it hits the 2 week mark. Really don't want to get hit with late fees on my rent because of this delay 😩 Has anyone had luck getting emergency payments while waiting for the card?

•Unfortunately there's no emergency payment option while waiting for the card - I asked about that when I was in the same situation. Your best bet is to set up direct deposit ASAP if you can. Go to your NY.gov unemployment account, find "Payment Method" and switch it to direct deposit with your bank info. That way future payments will go straight to your account instead of the card. For the money that's already been issued to the card, you'll have to wait until it arrives or call KeyBank to see what's up. The direct deposit change usually takes effect for the next payment cycle.
