EDD SDI forms not appearing for certification - stuck for almost a month!

I'm seriously worried about my disability benefits continuing. I was getting my certification forms regularly every 14 days as scheduled through March, but now it's been almost a month and no new forms are showing up in my SDI Online account! I log in daily hoping to see something new, but it's just the same old dashboard with no forms to complete. My last payment was April 2nd, and I'm still unable to work due to my recovery from back surgery. My doctor certified me through July 2025, so I should still be eligible. Has anyone else experienced this certification form disappearing issue? Is the system glitching or did EDD somehow close my claim without telling me? I've called dozens of times but can't get through to a real person. I'm starting to panic about bills since I've now missed what should have been my mid-April payment.

yeah this happened to me 2 months back... turned out my claim had been flagged for review but nobody bothered to tell me!! check your messages section on the portal, sometimes they send notices there but dont email you about them. so annoying

0 coins

Just checked my messages and there's nothing there. Not a single notification about any issues. Did you end up getting paid for the missing period once they fixed it?

0 coins

This is actually a common issue that happens when there's either 1) a medical extension that needs to be processed, 2) your claim reached the original end date your doctor specified and requires recertification, or 3) there's a system flag on your account requiring manual review. First thing to try - call your doctor's office and confirm they didn't receive any additional certification requests from EDD. Sometimes these get lost or overlooked. Second, check if you received any paper notices in the mail (EDD still sends important notices this way). Third, you can try submitting a message through your SDI Online account specifically asking about certification form availability. One important thing to note: if you've been on disability for more than 12 months total, you may have reached the maximum benefit period and would need to transition to a different benefit type.

Thank you, this is really helpful! I've been on disability for about 5 months so I shouldn't be hitting any maximum yet. I'll call my doctor tomorrow to see if they received anything from EDD. I haven't gotten any mail notices either. This is so stressful when the payments just stop without explanation.

my sister had the same exact thing!! for her it turned out they randomly decided they wanted more medical info. but like they never told her?? she waited like 6 weeks with no forms showing up and no money coming in before she finally got through to someone!! so crazyyyy

0 coins

This is unfortunately becoming more common. EDD's system sometimes flags claims for additional medical documentation but fails to notify claimants. Always check both your online portal AND physical mail, as they send different notices through different methods (makes no sense but that's government efficiency for you).

I went through this nightmare in January 2025. Turns out there was a "system flag" on my account due to my employer submitting conflicting information about my last day worked. It took me 3 weeks of calling every day, getting disconnected, and waiting on hold before I finally reached someone who could help. I've been recommending Claimyr to everyone dealing with EDD phone issues since I discovered it. It's a service that gets you through to an actual EDD agent without the endless calling and waiting. I was skeptical but watched their demo video (https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd) and decided to try it. Got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes who fixed my issue immediately. Their website is claimyr.com if you're losing your mind trying to get through. Honestly saved my sanity and got my benefits flowing again.

is this legit? sounds kinda sketchy...how do they get u through when nobody else can?

0 coins

It's legitimate. They basically use an automated system that calls EDD repeatedly using the right sequences of options and then connects you when they get through. You'll still talk directly to an actual EDD representative - Claimyr just handles the nightmare of getting connected. Saved me days of frustration.

THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO ME RIGHT NOW!!!!! Been on disability since January for pregnancy then postpartum complications and my forms STOPPED COMING after April 5th payment!!! I've called 45+ TIMES and either get disconnected or told the wait is too long!!! This is RIDICULOUS!!! They can't just STOP PAYING PEOPLE with no explanation!!! I have medical bills and a NEWBORN and they just cut me off??? This system is BROKEN!!!!!

0 coins

omg that's terrible!! have u tried going to an actual edd office? i think u can make appointments in person now

0 coins

I tried but the earliest appointment is THREE WEEKS away!!! How am I supposed to feed my baby and pay rent while I wait for them to fix THEIR mistake??? This is honestly criminal!!!

sometimes the forms stop when ur claim is about to run out of money. did u check ur claim balance? there's a maximum benefit amount u can get based on your wages from before.

0 coins

I checked that too. My claim balance still shows $8,450 remaining. So I definitely haven't exhausted my benefits. It's like the system just forgot to generate new certification forms.

Based on what you're describing, this sounds like an administrative hold that wasn't properly communicated to you. Since you still have a substantial claim balance and your doctor certified you through July, I suspect one of three things is happening: 1. The system is waiting for a quarterly review of your claim (which sometimes happens automatically) 2. There's a flag requiring additional medical documentation 3. There's a technical glitch affecting form generation I strongly recommend taking these steps immediately: 1. Send a message through your SDI Online account (keep a copy) 2. Have your doctor contact EDD to confirm your continuing disability 3. Request an immediate phone interview by submitting the request through your online account 4. If you can reach an agent, ask them to manually generate certification forms Don't wait for the system to correct itself - in most cases, these issues require human intervention to resolve.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice. I just sent a message through my account asking for forms to be manually generated and explaining the situation. I'll call my doctor first thing tomorrow too. I've been trying to get through on the phone for weeks with no luck. I guess I'll try this Claimyr service others mentioned if I can't get a response to my online message in the next couple days. This is my mortgage payment on the line.

One thing no one has mentioned yet - check if you were supposed to submit a DE 2525XX Supplemental Certificate form. Sometimes when a disability extends beyond the original expected recovery date, the system pauses certification forms until this supplemental form is processed. Your doctor would need to complete this to verify your condition is still disabling. If your original certification from your doctor had an expected recovery date that has now passed, this could be the issue.

0 coins

That's interesting! My original expected recovery date was actually early April, which does line up with when the forms stopped appearing. So maybe they're waiting for updated medical certification even though my doctor already submitted forms saying I'd need until July? I'll definitely ask about this specific form when I talk to my doctor's office. Thank you!

0 coins

did u try loggin out and back in again? sometimes the website glitches and old forms reappear when u do that. worth a shot

0 coins

I've tried logging out and back in multiple times, clearing cookies, using different browsers, even trying on my phone instead of computer. Nothing seems to make the forms appear. It really seems like something is wrong with my claim status rather than just a display issue.

0 coins

I just wanted to follow up - were you able to get this resolved? I'm curious if sending messages through the portal worked or if you had to call. The DE 2525XX form someone mentioned sounds like it could be the culprit based on your timeline.

0 coins

Update! I finally got through to EDD this morning. You were all right - they needed an updated medical certification because I passed my original expected recovery date. The representative manually triggered a form to be sent to my doctor and said once they receive it back, my certification forms should start appearing again. She also said they'll backpay me for the missed period once everything is processed. Thanks everyone for your help - especially the tip about the supplemental certification form!

0 coins

So glad to hear you got it resolved! This is exactly why I always recommend people check if they've passed their original expected recovery date - it's such a common issue but EDD never explains it clearly. For anyone else reading this thread with similar problems, the key lesson is that when your disability extends beyond what your doctor initially estimated, the system automatically pauses until they get updated medical certification. It's frustrating that they don't notify you about this, but at least now you know what to look for. Hope your back surgery recovery goes smoothly and you don't have any more issues with the certification forms!

This is such valuable information! I'm new to this community but dealing with a similar situation where my forms just disappeared after my initial recovery timeline passed. It's so frustrating that EDD doesn't send any kind of notification about needing updated medical certification - you just have to figure it out yourself when payments suddenly stop. Thank you for sharing this insight about the automatic pause system. It really helps to understand what's happening behind the scenes when the system seems to just break without explanation.

This thread is incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with something similar - my certification forms stopped appearing about 3 weeks ago and I've been panicking about what went wrong. Reading through everyone's experiences, it sounds like the most common cause is needing updated medical certification when you pass your original recovery date. I'm going to check with my doctor's office tomorrow to see if they received any requests from EDD that I'm not aware of. It's so frustrating that the system just stops without any clear notification, but at least now I have a better idea of what steps to take. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - it really helps to know I'm not alone in dealing with this confusing system!

Welcome to the community! Your situation sounds exactly like what Collins went through. Definitely check with your doctor's office first - that seems to be the most common issue based on what everyone has shared here. The fact that EDD doesn't send clear notifications about needing updated medical forms is honestly ridiculous, but at least this thread gives us a roadmap for what to look for. I hope you get it sorted out quickly! Also don't hesitate to try that Claimyr service if you need to actually talk to someone at EDD - several people here had success with it when the normal phone lines were impossible to get through.

I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now! My forms stopped appearing about two weeks ago and I've been going crazy trying to figure out what's wrong. Reading through this thread has been such a relief - I had no idea that passing your original recovery date could cause the system to automatically pause like that. My doctor initially said I'd be back to work in 6 weeks but it's been 8 weeks now and I'm still recovering from my surgery. I'm definitely going to call my doctor's office tomorrow to see if EDD sent them anything about needing updated certification. It's honestly insane that they just stop your benefits without any explanation or notification. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences - this thread is going to save me weeks of confusion and panic!

Welcome to the community, Aisha! Your timeline sounds exactly like what happened to Collins and several others here. The 6-week vs 8-week recovery difference is probably exactly what triggered the system pause. It's really frustrating how EDD just stops everything without warning when you go past your original expected recovery date. Definitely call your doctor tomorrow - they likely received a DE 2525XX form or similar request for updated certification that might have gotten overlooked. Once your doctor submits the updated medical info, your forms should start appearing again and you should get backpay for the missed period. Hang in there - it sounds scary when the payments just stop but based on everyone's experiences here, it's usually fixable once you know what's causing it!

I just joined this community because I'm going through the exact same nightmare! My certification forms disappeared three weeks ago right after I passed my original 4-week recovery estimate from ankle surgery. I've been calling EDD non-stop with no luck getting through to anyone. Reading through all these comments has been incredibly eye-opening - I had no idea that going past your original recovery date could trigger an automatic system pause. It makes so much sense now why everything just stopped without warning. I'm calling my orthopedic surgeon's office first thing Monday morning to check if they received any requests from EDD for updated medical certification. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions - this thread is literally going to save my sanity! It's so frustrating that EDD doesn't explain any of this clearly, but at least now I know I'm not alone and there's actually a path forward.

Welcome to the community, Luis! Your ankle surgery recovery timeline sounds exactly like what triggered the issues for Collins and several others here. It's really encouraging to see how this thread is helping so many people understand what's happening when their forms suddenly disappear. The pattern is so clear now - EDD's system automatically pauses when you go past your original recovery estimate, but they do an absolutely terrible job of communicating this to claimants. Definitely check with your orthopedic surgeon about any EDD forms they might have received. Based on everyone's experiences here, once your doctor submits the updated certification, your forms should start appearing again and you should get backpaid for the missed weeks. It's such a relief to finally understand how this broken system actually works behind the scenes. Hang in there - you've got a clear path forward now!

I'm new to this community but unfortunately dealing with a very similar situation right now. My certification forms stopped showing up about 10 days ago and I've been absolutely panicking about what went wrong with my claim. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been such a huge relief - I had no idea that going past your original expected recovery date could cause the system to automatically pause like this! My doctor initially estimated 3 weeks recovery from my gallbladder surgery, but it's been 5 weeks now and I'm still not cleared to return to work. Based on what everyone has shared, it sounds like EDD is probably waiting for updated medical certification from my surgeon. I'm definitely calling my doctor's office tomorrow to see if they received any forms from EDD that might have gotten overlooked. It's honestly criminal that they just cut off benefits without any notification or explanation, but at least now I understand what's likely happening behind the scenes. Thank you everyone for sharing your stories and solutions - this thread is going to save me so much stress and confusion!

Welcome to the community, Christian! Your gallbladder surgery timeline (3 weeks estimated vs 5 weeks actual) is exactly the same pattern we've seen with Collins, Luis, Aisha, and others in this thread. It's become so clear that EDD's system automatically pauses certification forms when you exceed your original recovery estimate, but they do absolutely nothing to inform claimants about this. Definitely call your surgeon's office tomorrow - they very likely received a DE 2525XX supplemental certification form or similar request that needs to be completed. Based on everyone's experiences here, once your doctor submits the updated medical info confirming your continued disability, your forms should start appearing again and you should get backpaid for the missed period. It's such a relief to finally understand this broken system's logic! You're definitely not alone in this - seems like half the people on disability end up dealing with this issue when their recovery takes longer than initially expected.

This thread has been incredibly helpful! I'm also dealing with disappeared certification forms and was completely lost until I found this discussion. My forms stopped appearing about 2 weeks ago after I went past my original 6-week recovery timeline from hernia surgery - I'm now at 8 weeks and still not cleared to work. Reading everyone's experiences, it's so obvious now that EDD's system automatically pauses when you exceed your initial recovery estimate, but they provide zero communication about this! I'm calling my surgeon's office tomorrow to check if they received any EDD requests for updated medical certification. It's honestly shocking how many people are dealing with this exact same issue - clearly this is a major flaw in how EDD manages extended disabilities. Thank you everyone for sharing your stories and solutions, especially the tip about the DE 2525XX supplemental form. Finally feels like I have a roadmap to get this resolved instead of just panicking about why my benefits suddenly stopped!

Welcome to the community! It's amazing how this thread has helped so many people understand what's happening with their disappeared forms. Your hernia surgery timeline (6 weeks estimated vs 8 weeks actual) fits the exact same pattern everyone else has described. It really shows how common this issue is when recovery takes longer than initially expected. The fact that EDD provides zero notification about needing updated medical certification is honestly unacceptable - people shouldn't have to panic and search online forums just to understand why their benefits suddenly stopped! Definitely check with your surgeon about any EDD forms tomorrow. Based on everyone's experiences here, once they submit the updated certification, your forms should reappear and you should get backpaid. It's such a relief to finally have this community resource where people can share these insights about EDD's confusing system!

I'm so glad I found this thread! I've been dealing with the exact same nightmare for the past 3 weeks. My certification forms just vanished after my original 4-week recovery estimate from knee surgery passed - I'm now at 7 weeks and still can't return to work. I've been calling EDD every single day with no luck getting through to anyone, and I was starting to think my claim got randomly cancelled or something. Reading everyone's experiences here has been such a relief - I had absolutely no idea that going past your original recovery date could trigger an automatic system pause like this! It makes perfect sense now why everything just stopped without any warning or explanation. I'm definitely calling my orthopedic surgeon's office tomorrow to see if they received any requests from EDD for updated medical certification that might have gotten overlooked. Thank you everyone for sharing your stories and especially for the tip about the DE 2525XX supplemental form - finally feels like I have a clear path forward instead of just panicking about why my benefits disappeared! This community is amazing for helping people navigate EDD's completely broken communication system.

Welcome to the community, Hailey! Your knee surgery timeline (4 weeks estimated vs 7 weeks actual) is exactly the same pattern we've seen throughout this entire thread - it's incredible how common this issue is! You're definitely in the right place for getting this resolved. Based on everyone's shared experiences, your orthopedic surgeon very likely received a DE 2525XX form or similar request for updated medical certification that needs to be completed to restart your forms. It's so frustrating that EDD just cuts people off without any notification when recovery takes longer than expected, but at least now we all understand the pattern. Definitely call your surgeon tomorrow and once they submit the updated certification, your forms should reappear and you should get backpaid for these missing weeks. This thread has become such a valuable resource for understanding EDD's confusing system - so many people have been helped by everyone sharing their experiences here!

Just wanted to add my experience since this thread has been so helpful for everyone! I went through this exact same issue back in February - my forms disappeared right after I passed my original recovery date from wrist surgery. Like everyone else here, I had no idea what was happening and EDD provided zero communication about it. What worked for me was having my surgeon's office call EDD directly to inquire about the missing forms. Turns out they had sent a DE 2525XX supplemental certification form to my doctor's office but it got mixed up with other paperwork and wasn't completed right away. Once my surgeon submitted it, my forms reappeared within 3 days and I got backpaid for the entire missed period. Pro tip: if your doctor's office says they didn't receive anything from EDD, ask them to check their fax machine and any mail that might have been misfiled - these forms sometimes get overlooked in busy medical offices. This community thread should honestly be pinned somewhere because it's clearly helping so many people understand EDD's terrible communication system!

0 coins

This is such valuable advice, Darren! The tip about having the doctor's office call EDD directly is brilliant - I never would have thought of that approach. And you're absolutely right about checking fax machines and misfiled mail - medical offices are so busy that important forms can easily get overlooked. It's really encouraging to hear that once your surgeon submitted the DE 2525XX form, everything got resolved so quickly with backpay included. This thread really should be pinned or made into a guide somewhere because it's clearly the most comprehensive resource for understanding what happens when certification forms disappear after passing your original recovery date. Thank you for sharing your successful resolution - it gives everyone dealing with this issue hope that there's a clear path forward even when EDD's communication is absolutely terrible!

0 coins

As someone who's been through the EDD disability system multiple times, I can tell you that this thread has become an incredible resource for understanding one of the most confusing aspects of their process. The pattern is so clear now - when your recovery extends beyond your doctor's original estimate, EDD's system automatically pauses certification forms while waiting for updated medical documentation, but they provide absolutely no notification about this to claimants. What's particularly valuable about this discussion is how it shows that this isn't a rare glitch - it's a systematic issue that affects tons of people whose recovery takes longer than initially expected. The fact that so many people have found this thread while desperately searching for answers really highlights how poorly EDD communicates these requirements. For anyone dealing with this issue, the key takeaways from everyone's experiences seem to be: 1) Check with your doctor's office for any EDD correspondence (especially DE 2525XX forms) that might have been overlooked, 2) Have your doctor contact EDD directly if needed, and 3) Once updated medical certification is submitted, forms typically reappear within days and backpay is processed. It's honestly ridiculous that people have to crowdsource this information instead of getting clear communication from EDD, but I'm so glad this thread exists to help people navigate this broken system!
