EDD PFL static on call - how to reach right department?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to check if my paid family leave went through with EDD. I called the number but when I got through there was only static on the line. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if there's a way to change which department I'm trying to reach or if I should just keep trying. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, the EDD phone system is such a nightmare! I've had similar issues trying to get through. Sometimes it helps to call right when they open in the morning. Good luck!

Calling early is def the way to go. I've had luck getting thru around 8:05 AM. Keep trying OP!

Early morning calls are hit or miss for me. I've had better luck calling during lunch hours when most ppl are on break 🤷♂️

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this service?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous, the system is so broken 🤬

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, it was worth the $20 to finally talk to someone and sort out my issue.

How long did you have to wait after using the service? Did they call you back same day?

Yeah, it was same day. Took about 2 hours before I got the call back. Way better than spending all day hitting redial!

Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes that's faster than calling. Go to the EDD website and look for the 'Check Claim Status' option. Might save you some headache!

I'm in the same boat, trying to reach EDD about my PFL claim. The static issue is new to me tho. Maybe try calling from a different phone? Could be a connection problem on your end.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try using my landline instead of my cell and see if that helps.

Pro tip: If you're trying to reach a specific department, try these menu options when you call: 1. Press 1 for English 2. Press 1 for claim questions 3. Press 2 for employer questions 4. Enter your social security number 5. Press 1 to confirm This usually gets me to a human faster. Hope it helps!

I tried this and it worked! Only had to wait on hold for 45 minutes instead of never getting through lol

Have you considered reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They often have direct lines to EDD and can help push your claim through faster. Worth a shot if you're really stuck!

This! 👆 My assemblyman's office helped me resolve an issue that had been pending for months. Definitely give it a try, OP!
