EDD Paid Family Leave claim status - directed to wrong dept, no help. Tips?

I just got off the phone with EDD about my paid family leave claim status and I'm so frustrated. I was directed to the wrong department and didn't get any help at all. Has anyone else had this problem? Any tips on how to actually get through to the right people and get some answers about my claim?

Ugh, classic EDD. Their phone system is a total nightmare. I've been trying to get info on my claim for weeks and keep getting the runaround. Feels like they're purposely making it difficult 🙄

For real tho. Its like they dont want us to get our benefits. I've called like 50 times and still havent talked to a real person 😤

Have you tried calling right when they open? I've had better luck getting through early in the morning.

Yeah I've tried that too. No luck so far. Might have to camp out overnight at this rate lol

I feel your pain, OP. Here's what worked for me after weeks of frustration: 1. Call early in the morning, like right when they open 2. Have all your claim info ready before you call 3. Be super polite but firm with the rep 4. If you get transferred, don't hang up no matter what 5. Keep a log of who you talk to and what they say It took me a few tries, but I finally got through to someone who could help. Don't give up!

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely try calling first thing tomorrow morning. Did you have to wait on hold for a long time?

0 coins

Yeah, I was on hold for about an hour and a half. Bring a book or something to keep you busy while you wait!

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy 🤔

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

0 coins

Yeah basically. They have some automated system that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone. Pretty clever tbh

have u tried emailing them? sometimes u can get lucky and actually get a response that way

The whole system is broken. I've been waiting on my claim for 3 months now. No updates, can't get through on the phone. It's ridiculous how they treat people who are already struggling. 😡

3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

0 coins

No, I haven't thought of that. Good idea, I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Pro tip: if you get transferred to the wrong department, ask them to transfer you back to the main menu instead of hanging up. Sometimes you can get lucky and get through to the right person that way.

Oh that's smart, I'll definitely try that next time. Thanks for the advice!

Anyone else notice that their online system is always "undergoing maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🙄 It's like they're living in the stone age or something.

I work in IT and let me tell you, the EDD's systems are a complete mess. They're using outdated technology and don't have the resources to handle the volume of claims. It's no wonder everything's so backed up.

0 coins

That explains a lot actually. You'd think they'd invest in better tech given how important their services are 🤦‍♂️

Has anyone had any luck with the callback feature? I've been waiting for days and still no call back.

0 coins

LOL callback feature. More like the "we'll never actually call you back" feature 😂

I actually got a callback once... at 3am 💀 Fat lot of good that did
