When do we get our final extra CalFresh benefits this month - 25th or 26th?
My caseworker mentioned we're getting the last of those supplemental CalFresh benefits this month but I forgot if she said it's coming on the 25th or 26th? My regular benefits always load on the 10th, but these extra ones have been on different days. Can't get through to the county office to check (been on hold 45 mins already) and my kids are asking if we can go grocery shopping this weekend. Anyone know for sure which day the final extra benefits load?

•Thanks! Did they say anything about how much it'll be? Same as last month or different?

There's actually been a lot of confusion about this. The extra CalFresh allotments are ending, but the final payment date depends on your case number. Most people will receive it on the 26th, but some counties are issuing it on the 25th if your case number ends in 1-3. Check your BenefitsCal account - they should have posted a notice there with your specific date.

•I checked BenefitsCal but don't see any notices about it. My case number ends in 7 so I guess that means the 26th? Just wish they'd make this clearer.

Just want to clarify something important - these aren't actual "extra" benefits anymore like during COVID. What's ending this month is the transitional CalFresh supplement that's been gradually decreasing each month since the emergency allotments ended. The amount this month will be about 15% of what the emergency allotments were, so don't expect a large deposit. After this month, you'll only receive your regular CalFresh amount that's calculated based on your household size, income, and expenses.

•Oh that makes sense why the amounts kept getting smaller! Thanks for explaining. Guess I need to adjust my budget for next month.

NOBODY ACTUALLY KNOWS!!! I called twice and got different answers both times! First worker said 25th, second said 'depends on your case'. This is so typical of CalFresh to not communicate properly. I'm planning for the 27th just to be safe because they're always late with everything. So frustrated with this system!!!

•Yeah it's been decreasing every month but we still got a small amount. This is supposed to be the final one though.

I went through this exact same situation last month trying to find out about my verification documents. Could not get through to anyone at the county office despite calling for three days straight. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to a real person in about 10 minutes. They have this service where they wait on hold with the county office for you and then call you when they get a rep. Saved me hours of frustration. There's a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8. Might be worth trying if you need definitive answers about your specific case.

•That actually sounds really helpful - I hate being stuck on hold all day. I'll check out that video, thanks! I need to ask them about my recertification coming up anyway.

•Your neighbor might be getting CalWORKs benefits, not CalFresh. CalWORKs cash aid often comes earlier in the month. They're different programs even though they're both accessed through the same EBT card.

I just confirmed with my county office - the transition supplement will be issued on the 26th for all case numbers except those ending in 1-3 (which was yesterday, the 25th). The amount is based on a percentage of your regular benefit, so it varies by household. They also mentioned that if you don't see it by the 27th, you should contact your worker because some cases weren't eligible for the final supplement if they had recent income increases or household changes.

•This is exactly what I needed to know! Thank you so much for checking. I'll look for it on the 26th then. My case hasn't had any changes so hopefully we'll get something.
