Hmm maybe I misunderstood... the caseworker definitely mentioned something about extra money in May. Could it be the quarterly adjustment they sometimes do? Or maybe it was about my income change that I reported on my last SAR7?

Ok that makes sense. I did add my nephew to my case last month when my sister moved in with us. Maybe that's what the worker was talking about. So the extra amount for adding him might come separately?

I went thru this when I added my mom to my household. The supplemental benefits for adding someone mid-period usually come within 10 days of them approving the household change. It won't necessarily be on your regular issuance date. You should check your EBT account online every couple days or call the EBT customer service number to see when it posts. Did you get any notice in the mail about the change being approved?

I've used it twice. They just connect you - they don't take your case info or anything like that. It's literally just to get past the hold times. You still talk directly to the county worker, no middleman once you're connected.

My coworker was talking about this too! But I think she was confused about the P-EBT for her kids which is different from regular CalFresh. The P-EBT comes every 3 months I think? And it's for families with school-aged kids who qualify for free school meals. That might be what your worker meant by

My kids do get free lunch at school but we haven't gotten P-EBT in a long time. I thought that ended after covid? I'm gonna call tomorrow and try to figure this out.

When I finally got through to my caseworker last week about a similar issue (I was missing benefits after adding my mom), the worker told me the approval notice and the actual benefit deposit can be like 2 weeks apart sometimes. Check your mail carefully because the notice will tell you exactly when to expect the additional benefits. And def mention the exact date your nephew moved in when you call, because they're supposed to prorate from that exact date.

UPDATE: I found the letter! You guys were right - it was about adding my nephew. The letter says I'll get an additional $110 for May (prorated since he moved in on the 12th) and starting June my regular amount will increase by $178 monthly. The additional May amount should be on my EBT card by the 20th. Thanks everyone for the help!!
