When are the extra CalFresh benefits being deposited in May 2025?
Does anyone know when we're supposed to get the extra CalFresh benefits this month? My regular benefits already came through on the 10th like normal, but I thought we were still getting supplemental benefits too? My neighbor said something about the 18th but wanted to check if anyone has actual info. Really counting on that extra amount for my kids' groceries this month.

•Wait seriously??? I thought they just changed the date or something. My caseworker never mentioned this when I recertified in March! What about the inflation adjustment they were talking about on the news?

There are NO "extra" food stamps anymore. That was a temporary COVID emergency measure that ended in February 2023. If you're hearing about extras, it's either: 1. Summer P-EBT for eligible kids (different program) 2. The regular COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment) that happens once a year 3. Someone spreading misinformation If you're struggling with your current benefit amount, you should contact your county worker to see if you're getting the maximum amount you qualify for. Sometimes people don't report all their deductions like childcare, medical expenses, or high housing costs that could increase your benefit amount.

•Omg thank you for explaining! My neighbor kept saying we're getting "extra food stamps" this month and I got confused. I think maybe she was talking about the P-EBT for summer? My kids get free lunch at school.

•You're absolutely right about the confusion. To clarify for everyone: There are currently NO "extra" or "emergency" CalFresh benefits being issued in 2025. What might be happening: 1. Your regular benefits (issued on your normal day between the 1st-10th based on your case number) 2. P-EBT for eligible children (completely separate program from CalFresh) 3. The semi-annual COLA adjustment that sometimes results in slightly higher benefits If you're struggling with your current benefit amount, make sure you're reporting ALL qualified deductions on your SAR7 and recertification forms. Many households don't claim all their eligible expenses for housing, utilities, childcare, and medical costs (for seniors/disabled).

•This happens constantly! If you're struggling with your current CalFresh benefits, I'd highly recommend using Claimyr to get connected directly to a worker at your county office. It lets you skip the hold times (which are insane right now). They'll connect you to a live worker who can review your case and make sure you're getting the maximum benefit amount you qualify for based on your current situation. I used it when I needed to update my income changes and got through in minutes instead of waiting for hours. Check out their site at claimyr.com or watch how it works here: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8

Unfortunately, the emergency allotments (the "extra" CalFresh benefits) ended over two years ago when the federal public health emergency declaration for COVID ended. Each household now only receives their regular calculated benefit amount based on household size, income, and expenses. What might help you is reporting any changes that could increase your benefit amount: 1. Decreased income 2. Increased rent/housing costs 3. Increased utility expenses 4. Childcare expenses 5. Medical expenses over $35/month (for elderly or disabled household members) You can report these changes at BenefitsCal.com or by submitting verification to your county office. This might increase your regular monthly benefit.

•Thank you for this detailed explanation! I had no idea the extras were tied to COVID. I'm definitely going to check if I can get more for childcare expenses - I'm paying $950/month for after-school care that I never reported because nobody told me I could!

•That's because people keep spreading rumors without understanding how CalFresh actually works! The pandemic emergency allotments ended YEARS ago, but the misinformation keeps circulating. It's actually harmful because people budget expecting money that will never come.
