Will extra CalFresh benefits be loaded in August 2025? What's the September payment date?

Does anyone know if the extra CalFresh benefits were approved for August? I heard rumors that the state was giving a supplemental payment this month because of the rising food costs, but haven't seen anything official. Also wondering what day in September we will be receiving our regular benefits? My family is really tight on food budget right now and I'm trying to plan ahead. Thank u in advance!

i think the extra benefits ended back in like 2023 when the pandemic emergency stopped? not sure if theyre doing new ones but i havent heard anything

Oh really? My cousin said something about extra money getting approved because of inflation but maybe she got confused with something else. 😕

THERE ARE NO EXTRA BENEFITS COMING!!! The emergency allotments ended in March 2023 and they are NEVER coming back. I called my caseworker THREE TIMES about this last month. The county keeps telling people to "watch for announcements" but it's just to keep us quiet. Don't get your hopes up.

To answer your questions accurately: 1) There are currently no approved extra CalFresh benefits for August 2025. The emergency allotments that provided maximum benefits to all households ended in March 2023 when the federal public health emergency expired. Any new supplemental benefits would require new legislation. 2) For your September benefits, CalFresh deposits regular benefits over the first 10 days of each month. Your specific date depends on the last digit of your case number. If your case number ends in 1, you'll receive benefits on the 1st, if it ends in 2, on the 2nd, and so on through the 10th. You can check your specific deposit date on your EBT account or by calling the number on the back of your card.

Thank you so much! That's really helpful. My case number ends in 7 so I guess I'll get September benefits on the 7th. Really appreciate the clear explanation.

I was wondering the same thing! My benefits barely last two weeks now with these crazy grocery prices. I heard that California might be doing a state supplemental but I think it's still just being discussed in Sacramento. When I called to ask my worker last month, I couldn't get through at all - just kept getting disconnected after 45 minutes on hold. So frustrating!!

If you're having trouble reaching someone at the county office, you might want to try using Claimyr. It's this service that calls the CalFresh office for you and holds your place in line, then calls you back when a worker is available. Saved me hours of hold time when I had issues with my SAR7 last month. You can check out their demo at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 or just go to claimyr.com - it's been a game changer for actually getting answers from the county.

i moved from alameda to contra costa county last month and my benefits date changed from the 4th to the 8th so i think it depends on your county too not just the case number????

The issuance date is actually determined by the last digit of your case number statewide, not by county. When you moved counties, you got a new case number which is why your date changed. Each county uses the same statewide schedule (1st through 10th based on last digit).

I just got off the phone with my CalFresh worker after my recertification interview, and she mentioned there ARE some counties doing a one-time supplement for families with children, but it's not statewide and not for everyone. You should call your county office and check if your area is doing it and if you qualify.

Thats probly the Summer EBT program for families with kids in school, not extra CalFresh. Completely different program but people get confused about it all the time. You have to have school-age kids to get it.

Thank you everyone for the info! Sounds like there's no extra coming (bummer but good to know). I checked my case number and the last digit is 7, so I'll get September benefits on the 7th. Really helps with my planning. And no, I don't have school kids so guess I won't get that summer program either. I'll just have to stretch what I get even further this month.
