Who is the governor's office contact for ESD claims stuck over 6 weeks?

I keep seeing posts where people mention calling the governor's office after your claim has been stuck for six weeks, and supposedly they can help push things along with ESD. Has anyone actually done this and gotten results? Who exactly are you supposed to contact and what's the phone number? I'm on week 7 of 'adjudication in progress' and getting desperate. My savings are almost gone and I can't even get through to an ESD agent.

I called the governor's constituent services line at 360-902-4111 after my claim was stuck for 8 weeks. The person I spoke with took down my info and said they'd forward it to ESD. Within 3 days I got a call from an ESD supervisor who resolved my adjudication issue! They can't approve your claim, but they definitely can light a fire under ESD to look at your case.

Thank you!!! Did you have to explain anything specific when you called, or just that your claim was stuck? I'm nervous about calling the governor's office, like maybe I'll sound stupid or they'll think I'm jumping the line.

It's actually the Governor's Office of Constituent Services. They have a form online too but calling is better: https://www.governor.wa.gov/contact/contact/send-gov-inslee-e-message Be polite but firm - explain your claim has been stuck for 7 weeks with no updates, you can't get through to ESD, and you're facing financial hardship. They'll create a case and contact ESD on your behalf. You can also try your state representative - some people have had success that way too.

i tried this and it didn work for me. waited 3 more weeks after contacting them and still nothin happened. maybe im just unlucky 🤷‍♀️

Sorry to hear that. Did you follow up with them after a week? Sometimes you need to be persistent. Also, if the governor's office doesn't help, definitely try your state rep next. You can find yours here: https://app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/

The governor's office is hit or miss honestly. BEFORE you try that route, have you tried using Claimyr to get through to an actual ESD agent? I was stuck for weeks but finally used their service (claimyr.com) - they got me past the phone system and connected to an agent in about 20 minutes. The agent was able to see exactly what was holding up my claim and fixed it on the spot. Check out their demo: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 It might save you from having to escalate to the governor's level.

I never heard of this before - is it legit? I'm so desperate I'll try anything at this point but kinda nervous about using a third-party service for something like unemployment.

Yes, it's legitimate. They don't access your ESD account or anything like that - they just help you bypass the phone system to actually reach a human. Once you're connected, you're talking directly with an ESD agent just like if you'd called normally (except without the hours of busy signals and hangups).

GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IS A WASTE OF TIME!!!! I called them TWICE and they just take your info and NOTHING HAPPENS. ESD is completely BROKEN and nobody in olympia cares about us!!!! Been waiting 9 WEEKS with no income and about to be EVICTED!!!! The whole system is rigged against workers!!!

I'm sorry you're going through this. Have you tried getting in touch with your state representative as well? Mine actually helped after the governor's office didn't do much. Also, if you're facing eviction, call 2-1-1 right away - they can connect you with emergency rental assistance programs.

I'm a former ESD employee (left in 2023). The governor's constituent services line can definitely help, but there's a specific approach that works best: 1. Wait until your claim has been stuck at least 6 weeks 2. Call 360-902-4111 (Mon-Fri 8am-5pm) 3. Be specific about how long you've been waiting 4. Explain any hardship (rent due, utilities, etc) 5. Provide your claim ID when asked 6. Get the case number they assign you 7. If you don't hear from ESD within 5 business days, call back with that case number The governor's office has a dedicated liaison at ESD who handles these escalations. Your claim won't necessarily be approved, but it will get a thorough review by a senior adjudicator.

This is incredibly helpful - thank you so much! I'll call them tomorrow morning with this exact information. Really hoping I can get this resolved soon, my landlord is starting to get annoyed about the late rent.

my freind called our state rep's office insted of governor and got his claim fixed in like 2 days! find your rep here https://app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/ mabye try both?

This is good advice. I've heard that state representatives can sometimes be even more effective than the governor's office, especially if they have staff who specialize in unemployment issues. Definitely worth trying both approaches.

I had success with the governor's office after my claim was stuck for 9 weeks. The number is 360-902-4111. They took my information and within a week, ESD called me to resolve my issue. Just be prepared with your claim ID and a clear explanation of the problem. They can't work miracles, but they definitely can get someone at ESD to actually look at your claim instead of letting it sit in the system forever.

Thanks - I'll definitely call them tomorrow. It's good to hear that it actually worked for you! Did they ask for any other information besides your claim ID?

They asked for my full name, address, phone number, and a brief description of the issue. I also mentioned I was facing possible eviction (which was true), and I think that helped emphasize the urgency. Just be honest about your situation.
