Stuck in ESD adjudication for 6 weeks - Too soon to contact governor's office?

I'm at my wits' end with this ESD situation. My claim has been stuck in adjudication since January 12th (about 6 weeks now). I've filed 6 weekly claims so far but haven't received a single payment. My savings are practically gone, and I'm starting to miss bill payments. I called ESD this morning after trying for DAYS to get through. The agent basically brushed me off saying I need to wait longer because "other people have been waiting even longer than you have." Like that's supposed to make me feel better?? Is 6 weeks too early to escalate this to the governor's office? I keep reading mixed things online. Some people say to wait 8 weeks minimum before contacting them, others say they got help after 4-5 weeks. Meanwhile, my landlord doesn't care about ESD's timeline and I'm freaking out about getting evicted. Anyone been through something similar recently? What worked for you?

Six weeks is definitely enough time to justify escalating your claim. The standard processing time should be 2-3 weeks for most claims, though complex ones can take longer. I'd recommend three steps before contacting the governor: 1. Request an expedite on your claim by calling ESD again and specifically mentioning financial hardship (possible eviction counts). 2. Contact your state representative's office - they often have direct lines to ESD and can help push claims through faster than the governor's office. 3. Make sure there are no missing documents or information requests in your eServices account that might be holding things up. The "others have been waiting longer" line is standard but unhelpful. Your financial situation matters regardless of others' wait times.

Thank you! I didn't even think about contacting my state rep. Do you know if there's a specific way to request an expedite? The agent I talked to didn't mention anything about that as an option when I told them about my financial situation.

DONT WASTE UR TIME CALLING ESD!!! i was stuck in adjudcation for 9 WEEKS and calling did NOTHING. every agent told me something difrent. one said wait, another said my identity verification was wrong (it wasnt), another said there was no issues on my account but i still had to wait?? makes no sense governors office is hit or miss, i tried them after week 7 and got a form letter back. what finally worked was my state senator's office, they have a constituent services person who deals with ESD issues all day

I had a similar experience with conflicting info from different agents. One told me my claim was fine just waiting for processing, another said I had a flag on my account that needed review. So frustrating!

I was in adjudication for almost 8 weeks last year. What finally worked for me was using Claimyr to reach an ESD tier 2 agent. Regular agents can't do much, but tier 2 agents have more authority to push claims through or at least tell you exactly what's holding it up. I got through in about 15 minutes using their service after spending weeks trying on my own. You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 - it basically holds your place in line for you. Worth every penny when I was desperate and about to miss mortgage payments. Once I got through to a tier 2 agent, they found that my employer had submitted contradicting information about my separation, and they were able to expedite the review.

I've never heard of tier 2 agents before! Is there a special way to request one when you call? And I'll check out that Claimyr service - at this point I'd try anything to get this resolved faster.

This is absolutely ridiculous that they're making you wait this long. The ESD system is completely broken. My sister was stuck in adjudication for 10 weeks last year and only got paid after her state rep got involved. Meanwhile, they expect us to keep filing weekly claims and jumping through hoops with job search activities when they can't even do THEIR job. WHAT BURNS ME is that they'll back-pay you eventually (hopefully), but they don't pay interest on the money they've withheld while you're racking up late fees, credit card debt, and getting eviction notices. The system is designed to wear you down until you give up!

That's exactly how I feel! I'm doing everything right - filing on time, doing my job searches, reporting accurately - but they get to just sit on my money while I'm drowning. And they act like I should be grateful when they finally decide to pay what they owe me. It's so demoralizing.

Former ESD employee here. Six weeks is definitely long enough to warrant escalation, but the governor's office isn't always the most effective route. Here's what I'd recommend: 1. Contact your state representative AND senator (not federal - state level). Both offices can initiate what's called a "legislative inquiry" which gets assigned to special ESD staff who must respond within 5 business days. 2. When you call ESD, specifically ask if there are any "issues" on your claim that need to be resolved. If yes, ask what documentation you can provide to help resolve them. 3. If you're facing eviction, ask specifically about Hardship Escalation - this is a real process, but you have to explicitly request it. 4. Check your Notices/Letters section in eServices daily - sometimes they request information but the email notification goes to spam. The "others are waiting longer" line is unfortunately something agents are trained to say. It doesn't mean your claim isn't important.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I'll contact both my state rep and senator today. I've been checking eServices obsessively and there are no pending issues or requests showing up - which makes the wait even more frustrating because I have no idea what's holding things up.

Just because yours took 11 weeks doesn't mean 6 weeks isn't a serious problem! This kind of attitude is exactly why ESD gets away with these ridiculous delays. We shouldn't normalize this broken system.

One more thing I forgot to mention - make sure you're answering your phone even if you don't recognize the number. ESD adjudicators often call from blocked or weird numbers, and if they can't reach you, they'll just put your claim back in the queue. They typically only try once or twice before moving on. Also, if you do get through to ESD again, ask specifically what's causing the adjudication. Common reasons include: - Identity verification issues - Employer disputing your reason for separation - Availability for work questions - Job search compliance issues - Previous overpayment flags Knowing the specific reason helps you address it directly rather than just waiting.

Thank you for the follow-up. I've been answering every single call for weeks now, even the spam ones, just in case it's ESD. It's nerve-wracking! I'll definitely ask about the specific reason for adjudication next time I call.
