ESD adjudication dragging on for 7 weeks - Should I contact governor's office?
Seriously frustrated with ESD at this point! I've been stuck in adjudication for 7 WEEKS now with absolutely zero updates. My weekly claims all show 'pending' and my savings are almost gone. Does anyone have a more realistic timeline for how long these adjudications actually take? The ESD website says 3 weeks but that's clearly BS. I'm considering contacting the governor's office to light a fire under someone - has anyone tried this approach? Did it help move your claim along or just waste more time? Getting desperate here as rent is due next week and I've got nothing coming in.

I feel your pain!! Been there done that, my adjudication took 11 weeks last fall. The 3 week timeline is a complete joke lol. Calling the governors office probly won't hurt but don't expect miracles either

11 WEEKS?? That's insane! Did you do anything special to finally get it resolved or did they just randomly process it one day?

Wow really? How did you find your state rep's contact info? And what exactly did you tell them?

The adjudication timeline varies dramatically depending on the specific issue being investigated. Simple identity verification might take 4-5 weeks, while employer disputes about separation reasons can take 8-12 weeks. The current average processing time for adjudications is approximately 6-9 weeks according to recent data.\n\nContacting your local state representative or senator is actually more effective than the governor's office. They have constituent services staff who can submit legislative inquiries directly to ESD's special handling team. Make sure to include your full name, contact information, and claim ID when you reach out.\n\nAlternatively, you can try requesting an escalation by contacting ESD directly, though this can be challenging due to their high call volumes and staffing limitations.

Thank you for this detailed info. My issue is that I was laid off, but my employer is disputing it saying I quit (which I absolutely did NOT). So sounds like I'm in for the long haul with 8-12 weeks. I'll try contacting my state rep today.

Have you tried calling ESD directly? I know their phone lines are a NIGHTMARE, but sometimes getting through to an actual person can help move things along. My claim was stuck for 5 weeks until I finally got someone on the phone who could tell me what was going on.\n\nI used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to ESD after spending days trying on my own without success. They have this service that holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is ready. Saved me hours of redial hell! There's a demo video here if you want to see how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3\n\nWorth a try before going to the governor's office, since at least you might get answers about your specific situation.

I've heard about that service but isn't it sketchy giving them your personal info?? How do you know it's legit?

They don't ask for any sensitive information - they just connect you to ESD when an agent is available. I was hesitant too but it worked fine for me. All the personal stuff you share directly with ESD after you're connected, not with the service.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried calling literally 30+ times over the past few weeks and either get hung up on or sit on hold for hours only to be disconnected. Might try this service as a last resort if my state rep doesn't help.

The entire ESD system is DESIGNED to frustrate you into giving up!!! I waited 13 weeks last year for adjudication and when I finally got through to someone they said my claim was just sitting there with no notes or activity! They're hoping people will just go away. DON'T GIVE UP!!! Contact your state rep AND the media if you have to!!! I contacted my local news station and magically my claim was resolved a week later when they started asking questions!!!

This is so true! They're totally counting on people giving up. The system is broken on purpose.

Contacting the media is an interesting idea. I hadn't thought of that! Which news station did you contact?

While you're waiting for adjudication, make sure you continue filing your weekly claims without interruption. If you miss weeks, it can further complicate your case. \n\nRegarding contacting government officials, here's the most effective approach based on my experience working with many claimants:\n\n1. Contact your district's state representatives first (both your senator and representatives)\n2. Wait 3-5 business days for a response\n3. If no resolution, then contact your Congressional representative\n4. Governor's office should be a last resort\n\nWhen contacting representatives, be sure to include:\n- Your full name and contact information\n- Your ESD claim ID\n- The exact date your claim entered adjudication\n- A brief, factual description of your situation\n- Any documentation of your attempts to resolve the issue\n\nThis approach yields the fastest results in most cases I've seen. The current adjudication backlog is significant, but legislative inquiries are prioritized by ESD's special handling team.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I've been filing every week religiously even though they're all pending. I'll contact my state reps today with all the info you suggested.

My wife just went thru this same thing last month! Her adjudication was for 9 weeks and then suddenly the money showed up with no notice or explanation. ESD is totally swamped still from what I hear. Good luck!!!!!

If ur claim is stuck in adjudication dont forget to check if ur job search stuff is all in order too!!! I found out the hard way that having issues with job search activities can add another layer of delays!!!

Good point - I've been diligently logging all my job search activities (3 per week). Hopefully that part is fine at least!

Quick update: As of May 2025, ESD has implemented a new adjudication tracking tool on their eServices portal. Have you checked if this feature is available on your account? It should be under \

I just checked and I don't see that tab on my account. Maybe they're rolling it out gradually? I'll definitely ask about the hardship payment though - that could be a lifesaver while I wait. Thank you!
