When can I expect my Washington ESD unemployment payment after filing weekly claim?
I filed my weekly claim on Sunday morning like I always do, but I'm still waiting for my unemployment payment to hit my account. Usually it comes by Wednesday but it's Thursday now and nothing. My claim status shows 'paid' on the Washington ESD website but I don't see any deposit. Is this normal? When should I start worrying that something went wrong with my payment?

Payment timing can vary depending on your bank and when you filed. If you filed Sunday morning and it shows 'paid' status, the payment should hit your account within 2-3 business days. Some banks take longer to process ACH deposits from Washington ESD.

•I use Chase and usually get it by Tuesday night. This is the first time it's been this delayed.

•Chase has been having some delays with unemployment deposits lately. I'd give it until Friday before contacting Washington ESD.

same thing happened to me last week, took an extra day because of some processing issue on their end

•Did you have to do anything or did it just show up eventually?

If you're having trouble reaching Washington ESD about payment delays, I found this service called Claimyr that actually got me through to a live agent in like 10 minutes. Way better than sitting on hold for hours. They have a website at claimyr.com and there's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Helped me figure out why my payment was stuck.

•How much does that cost? I'm already broke waiting for my unemployment payment

•It's worth it when you need answers fast. Way cheaper than missing rent because your payment is delayed and you can't reach anyone at Washington ESD to find out why.

•Actually that sounds really useful. I've been trying to call Washington ESD for three days about a payment issue and keep getting disconnected.

Check your payment history on the Washington ESD website under 'Payment Information.' Sometimes there's a delay code that explains what's happening. Common reasons include address verification, bank account verification, or a random audit flag.

•I checked and it just says 'payment issued' with yesterday's date. No delay codes or anything.

•That's actually good news. If it says payment issued, it means Washington ESD has sent it to your bank. The delay is probably on your bank's side.

UGH this happens to me ALL THE TIME. Washington ESD's payment system is so unreliable. One week it's Tuesday, next week it's Friday, sometimes it doesn't come at all and you have to call and fight with them.

•Have you ever had a payment just not show up at all?

Isabella Russo
•YES twice last year! Had to file a missing payment claim both times. Took weeks to get resolved.

Lucas Kowalski
•That's unusual. Most payment delays are bank-related, not Washington ESD system issues.

been waiting since tuesday myself, starting to panic about rent

For future reference, payments are typically processed: Weekly claims filed Sunday get paid Tuesday/Wednesday. Claims filed Monday get paid Wednesday/Thursday. Holiday weeks can delay everything by a day.

•This is helpful! I never knew the timing depended on when you filed during the week.

•Yep, Washington ESD processes claims in batches. Earlier you file in the weekly period, earlier you get paid.

•I always file Sunday morning so that's probably why I usually get it Tuesday night.

Is anyone else having issues with the debit card option? My ReliaCard hasn't been working properly.

ApolloJackson
•The ReliaCard system is separate from direct deposit. You'd need to contact US Bank about card issues, not Washington ESD.

•Oh I didn't know that. Thanks!

Update: I used Claimyr again yesterday to check on a different payment issue and the agent told me they're seeing more payment delays this month due to system maintenance. Apparently Washington ESD is updating their payment processing system.

•That would explain why my usually reliable Tuesday payment is now Thursday and still not here.

•Typical that they don't announce these things. We're just supposed to guess why our money is late.

Check if your bank account info changed recently or if your bank merged with another bank. That can cause delays while Washington ESD verifies the new routing info.

Emma Bianchi
•No changes on my end. Same account I've been using for months.

•Then it's probably just the system delays others are mentioning.

I work at a credit union and we've been seeing delays from Washington ESD this week. Something about their ACH processing being slower than usual. Most people are getting payments 1-2 days late.
0 coins
Emma Bianchi
•So it's definitely on Washington ESD's side, not the banks?

Emily Thompson
•From what I'm seeing, yes. The ACH files are coming to us later than normal from Washington ESD.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get payments faster? Like is there an express option or anything?
0 coins
Lucas Kowalski
•No express option. The ReliaCard debit card is sometimes slightly faster than direct deposit, but not by much.

Sophie Hernandez
•Might switch to the card then. This waiting around is stressful.

I'm in week 3 of waiting for my first payment ever. Filed initial claim a month ago, finally got approved, filed my first weekly claim, and now... nothing. This is so frustrating.

ApolloJackson
•First payments often take longer because Washington ESD has to verify everything. Can take up to 10 business days for initial payment.

•Nobody told me that! I've been panicking thinking something went wrong.

For what it's worth, I called Washington ESD this morning using that Claimyr service someone mentioned and the agent confirmed they're having payment processing delays due to system maintenance. Should be back to normal next week.

•Good to have official confirmation! I'll stop checking my bank account every hour now.

•How long did it take to get through with Claimyr?

•Like 8 minutes total. Way better than the 2 hours I spent on hold yesterday before getting disconnected.

Just got mine too! 2:30 PM on Friday. Definitely the latest I've ever received a payment but it's there. Hopefully things are back to normal next week.

•Update: Mine just came through too! 3:15 PM. Thanks everyone for the reassurance that this was just a system delay.

PSA for anyone still waiting - check your spam folder if you have email notifications set up. Sometimes the payment confirmation emails get filtered and you miss that it actually got deposited.

Santiago Martinez
•Good tip! I never even think to check spam for important stuff like that.

•Yeah I missed a payment notification once because Gmail thought it was spam. Now I check both.

For anyone dealing with ongoing payment issues, it helps to document everything - screenshot your claim status, payment history, bank statements, etc. Makes it easier when you do get through to Washington ESD to resolve problems.
