When will unemployment be deposited this week in Washington ESD?
I filed my weekly claim on Sunday like I always do but my unemployment payment hasn't hit my account yet. Usually it's there by Wednesday morning but it's Thursday now and still nothing. My claim status shows 'paid' on the Washington ESD website but no money in my bank account. Is anyone else having delays with their unemployment deposits this week? Really stressing because rent is due tomorrow.

Check what day you actually filed your weekly claim - if you filed Sunday night after midnight it might count as Monday filing which would push your deposit back a day. Also make sure your bank info is still correct in your Washington ESD account.

•I filed around 2pm on Sunday so it should have gone through as Sunday filing. Bank info looks right but maybe I should double check.

•Yeah definitely verify your direct deposit info. I had mine get changed somehow last month and it took forever to figure out why my payments stopped coming.

Washington ESD typically processes payments Tuesday night for deposit Wednesday morning if you file your weekly claim by Sunday. But holidays and bank processing can cause delays. If your claim shows 'paid' status, the money should be coming. Some banks take an extra day or two to process deposits.

•Good to know about the timeline. I'll give it until Friday before I start really panicking. Thanks for the info!

•My credit union usually gets my Washington ESD deposit a day later than big banks. Could be a bank processing thing.

I've been having the same issue trying to get through to Washington ESD about payment delays. The phone system is impossible - either busy signal or it hangs up on you after waiting forever. Found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me through to a real person in like 10 minutes. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Might be worth trying if you need to talk to someone about your deposit delay.

•Never heard of Claimyr but at this point I'm desperate. How much does it cost to use?

•They don't mention pricing upfront but honestly it was worth whatever it cost to actually reach a human at Washington ESD. Way better than spending hours on hold for nothing.

•Sounds too good to be true but if it actually works I might try it. The regular Washington ESD phone number is worthless.

Are you on regular UI or some other program? Different benefit types have different deposit schedules sometimes. Also check if there are any holds or flags on your account that might delay payment.

•Just regular unemployment benefits. No holds showing on my online account. Everything looks normal except no money in the bank.

•That's frustrating. If it shows paid it really should be there soon. Banks are weird about processing times sometimes.

ugh the washington esd system is so broken, i swear they do this on purpose to make people give up and stop filing

•It's not intentional but the system definitely has issues. The important thing is the claim shows paid status which means the money is coming.

•maybe but when you're broke and rent is due it doesn't matter if the system is broken on purpose or by accident

Quick tip - if you bank with a smaller credit union or community bank, they often process ACH deposits slower than major banks. Washington ESD sends payments out Tuesday night but some banks don't post until Thursday or Friday. You might want to switch to a bank with faster processing if this keeps happening.

•I'm with a local credit union so that might explain it. Never thought about switching banks over this but it's definitely annoying.

•Chase and Wells Fargo usually get my unemployment by Wednesday morning. Might be worth opening an account just for UI deposits.

Check your spam folder too - sometimes banks send notifications about deposits that end up in spam. Also log into your bank account directly instead of using the app, sometimes there's a delay between the app and the actual website.

Camila Jordan
•Good idea, I'll check the actual website. Been using the mobile app which might not be showing everything.

Emma Swift
•Yeah the apps are usually behind. The website will show pending deposits before the app does.

I had this exact same problem last month and it turned out my bank flagged the deposit as suspicious because it was a slightly different amount than usual. Had to call the bank to clear it up. Maybe check with your bank too?

•Oh wow that's a new one. I'll definitely call my bank tomorrow if the deposit doesn't show up by morning. Thanks for the tip!

•No problem. It was super frustrating but at least it was an easy fix once I figured out what happened.

Also worth noting that if you had any earnings to report on your weekly claim, that can sometimes delay processing while they verify the information. Even if you reported correctly, it adds an extra step that can push back the deposit.

Camila Jordan
•I did report some part-time work this week, about $150. Could that be causing the delay even though I've reported earnings before?
0 coins
Tyler Lefleur
•It's possible, especially if the amount was different than usual or if you worked for a new employer. The system sometimes flags earnings reports for review.

Try using Claimyr if you need to talk to Washington ESD about the delay. I was skeptical at first but it actually worked - got connected to an agent who could see my account and explain exactly what was happening with my payments. Way better than the regular phone system.

•I'm curious about this too. The regular Washington ESD phone number is completely useless.

What bank are you with? I've noticed some banks are faster than others with unemployment deposits. Also double-check that your routing and account numbers are right in your Washington ESD profile.

•I'm with Pacific Northwest Credit Union. Numbers look right but I'll triple check them just to be sure.

•Credit unions can be slower for sure. Might want to consider a checking account at a bigger bank just for UI deposits.

Sometimes there are system maintenance delays too. Washington ESD does updates on their payment system occasionally that can push deposits back a day or two. Usually they announce it but not always.

Camila Jordan
•I haven't seen any announcements about maintenance but that could explain it. Thanks for mentioning that possibility.

Madeline Blaze
•Yeah they don't always communicate well about system updates. It's frustrating when you're waiting for money.

this is exactly why i hate depending on unemployment, you never know when the money will actually show up even when everything looks right

•I understand the frustration but the vast majority of payments go through on schedule. When there are delays it's usually bank processing or system maintenance.

•doesn't matter if it's usually on time when you need it for rent and it's not there

If your claim shows 'paid' status in your Washington ESD account, the money has been sent from their end. The delay is almost certainly on the banking side. Some banks batch process ACH deposits and only update accounts once or twice a day. Check again tomorrow morning.

Camila Jordan
•That's reassuring to know it's been sent. I'll check first thing tomorrow morning and hopefully it'll be there.

•Yeah if Washington ESD shows paid then it's definitely a bank processing delay. Should show up within 24-48 hours max.

Have you tried calling your bank? Sometimes they can tell you if there's a pending deposit that just hasn't posted yet. Might give you some peace of mind.

•Good idea, I'll call them first thing tomorrow if the deposit isn't there. At least I'll know if it's coming.

•Yeah they can usually see pending ACH deposits even if they haven't posted to your account yet.

Update us when your deposit comes through! I'm curious if it was just a banking delay or if there was actually an issue on the Washington ESD side. Hope it works out soon.

For future reference, if this happens again you might want to try Claimyr to get through to Washington ESD quickly. I used them last month when I had a payment issue and it was super helpful to actually talk to someone who could look at my account.

This exact thing happened to me two weeks ago. Turned out my bank was doing some kind of fraud prevention check on the deposit because it was a slightly different amount than usual. Called the bank and they released it immediately. Might be worth calling them even if you don't see anything pending.

Camila Jordan
•Interesting, my payment amount was a bit different this week because of the part-time work I reported. That could definitely be it.

•Yeah that's probably it then. Banks get suspicious when unemployment amounts change unexpectedly. Should be an easy fix.

One more thing - make sure you didn't accidentally have any tax withholding changes that might affect your deposit amount. If you recently changed your withholding settings, it could cause the deposit to be different and potentially flagged by your bank.

Camila Jordan
•I don't think I changed anything but I'll double-check my tax withholding settings tomorrow. Good catch!
