What time does Washington ESD unemployment phone lines open - can't get through

I've been trying to call Washington ESD for weeks about my pending claim and I can never get through. I keep calling at different times but it's always busy or I get disconnected. Does anyone know exactly what time does unemployment open their phone lines? I've tried calling at 8am but still can't get through. My claim has been stuck in adjudication for over a month and I really need to talk to someone.

Washington ESD customer service opens at 8:00 AM Monday through Friday. But honestly, the phone lines are swamped from the moment they open. I've had better luck calling right at 8:00 AM sharp, but even then it's hit or miss.

I tried calling exactly at 8am yesterday and still got the busy signal. This is so frustrating.

same here, been trying for 2 weeks straight at 8am and nothing

The phone lines are 8 AM to 4:30 PM, but the system gets overwhelmed immediately. I recommend trying different times throughout the day, not just first thing in the morning when everyone else is calling. Sometimes I've gotten through around lunch time or mid-afternoon.

Thanks, I'll try calling around noon today and see if that works better.

I tried at lunch and still couldn't get through. Maybe I'll try later in the afternoon?

honestly I gave up trying to call and just used claimyr.com - they actually got me connected to a Washington ESD agent within a few minutes. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Way better than spending hours trying to get through myself.

Really? How does that work exactly? I'm desperate at this point.

is that legit? seems too good to be true

0 coins

Yeah it's legit, they basically handle the calling process for you and connect you when they get through. Saved me so much time and frustration.

THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! I've been calling for 6 weeks and haven't gotten through ONCE. They expect us to just wait forever while our bills pile up. This is ridiculous.

I feel your pain, it's been a nightmare trying to reach anyone

0 coins

6 weeks?? That's terrible. Have you tried any other methods?

Pro tip: if you do get through to the automated system, don't hang up if you get put on hold. I've waited 2+ hours before but eventually got connected to a real person. The key is persistence.

2 hours on hold?? my phone bill is gonna be crazy

I know it's rough but sometimes that's what it takes. Make sure you're on a plan with unlimited minutes.

Try calling the different numbers - there's the main customer service line but also specific lines for different issues. Sometimes one is less busy than the others.

0 coins

What are the different numbers? I only knew about the main one.

There's the general line, the employer line, and some specialized ones depending on your issue. Check the Washington ESD website for the full list.

I work nights so I call right when they open at 8am and I'm usually asleep during normal hours anyway. Even calling at 8am sharp I still get busy signals most of the time though.

0 coins

That's smart thinking but sounds like even that doesn't work consistently

yeah the system is just overwhelmed no matter when you call

My neighbor told me about Claimyr too after she used it to get through about her overpayment issue. She said it was worth it just to avoid the endless calling. Might be worth looking into if you're really stuck.

Two people have mentioned this now, maybe I should check it out

how much does it cost though?

0 coins

I'm not sure about the cost but my neighbor said it was reasonable considering how much time it saved her.

Just keep trying. I called every day for 3 weeks and finally got through on a Wednesday around 2pm. Sometimes it's just luck of the draw.

0 coins

3 weeks of daily calling sounds exhausting but glad you finally got through

what did they say when you finally got connected?

I heard Fridays are the worst because everyone's trying to file their weekly claims and call customer service at the same time. Maybe avoid Fridays if possible.

0 coins

Good point, I never thought about that connection

makes sense, Mondays are probably bad too with weekend backup

ok so I just tried that Claimyr thing and it actually worked! Got connected to a Washington ESD agent in about 15 minutes. They helped me figure out why my claim was stuck in adjudication - turns out I needed to submit additional job search documentation. Problem solved!

Wow that's amazing! I'm definitely going to try that. Thanks for the update!

glad you got it sorted out, that's such a relief when you finally talk to someone who can help

0 coins

ok now I'm convinced this claimyr thing is real, might have to try it myself

The Washington ESD website says they're open 8-4:30 but honestly those hours don't mean much when you can't actually get through. The whole system needs an overhaul.

0 coins

Exactly, what's the point of posting hours if no one can actually reach them during those hours

0 coins

Try calling on your lunch break if you're working. Sometimes mid-day is less busy than first thing in the morning.

0 coins

I'll try that tomorrow, thanks for the suggestion

I spent my entire morning trying to get through yesterday and got nothing. This is why people end up using services like Claimyr - the regular system is just broken.

0 coins

Yeah I'm starting to see why people use alternative methods

Update: I just got through using normal calling after trying for 2 weeks! Called at 10:30am on a Tuesday and waited on hold for about 45 minutes but finally talked to someone. Don't give up!

0 coins

That gives me hope! I'll keep trying too. What did you need help with?

Had to verify my identity for my claim. The agent was really helpful once I got through.
