What time does Washington ESD unemployment office open for phone calls?
I've been trying to call Washington ESD about my unemployment claim but I can never get through. Does anyone know what time their phone lines actually open? I've been calling at 8am but it just goes straight to busy or hangs up on me. My claim has been pending for 2 weeks and I really need to talk to someone about why it's taking so long.

Phone lines open at 8am but good luck getting through. I've been calling for 3 days straight and haven't gotten past the busy signal.

•Ugh that's what I was afraid of. This is so frustrating when you need help with your claim.

•Try calling right at 8:00:00 AM sharp. Set multiple alarms and have your phone ready to dial exactly when the clock hits 8.

Washington ESD customer service is 8am-4pm Monday through Friday. But honestly the phone system is completely overwhelmed. I've had better luck calling around 11am or 2pm when it's slightly less busy.

•I tried calling at 2pm yesterday and still couldn't get through. How long did you have to wait on hold?

•When I finally got through it was about a 45 minute wait, but that was after probably 50 attempts to even get into the queue.

I was having the same problem trying to reach Washington ESD about my adjudication issue. Someone on here recommended Claimyr (claimyr.com) and it actually worked! They have this service that calls for you and gets you connected to an actual agent. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

•Never heard of that before. Does it really work or is it just another scam?

•I was skeptical too but I got through to Washington ESD in like 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. Worth checking out if you're desperate like I was.

•That sounds too good to be true. How much does something like that cost?

The trick is to call exactly at 8:00 AM. Not 8:01, not 7:59. Set your phone to automatically redial and keep trying. I usually get through within the first hour if I start right at 8.

•I've tried that and still can't get through. Maybe it depends on what issue you're calling about?

•Could be. I was calling about a simple claim status question. If you're calling about adjudication or appeals it might be harder to get through.

honestly the whole washington esd phone system is broken, ive been trying to call for over a month about my disqualification and cant get through to save my life

•For disqualification issues you might want to try filing an appeal online instead of calling. Sometimes that's faster than waiting for phone support.

•already did that but still need to talk to someone about the process, its confusing as hell

I've been tracking my call attempts and the best times seem to be Tuesday-Thursday between 10am-11am. Mondays and Fridays are absolutely impossible.

•That's really helpful, thank you! I'll try calling tomorrow morning around 10:30.

•Tuesdays have worked for me too. Seems like fewer people think to call mid-week.

Just wanted to say I tried that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier and it actually got me through to Washington ESD! I was skeptical but after calling for weeks on my own I figured it was worth a shot. Got connected in about 15 minutes.

•Wow really? What did you need to talk to them about?

•My claim was stuck in adjudication for 3 weeks and I needed to know what documents they were waiting for. The agent was able to tell me exactly what was missing.

•I'm still not convinced these services are legit. Seems like they're just taking advantage of people who are desperate.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main customer service line, try calling the employer line. Sometimes they can transfer you or at least give you better information about wait times.

•That's actually a good idea. The employer line is probably way less busy.

•Just make sure you're honest about why you're calling. They might not appreciate people using the wrong line.

This whole situation is ridiculous. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to talk to someone about our own unemployment benefits. The system is completely broken.

•Totally agree. It's like they don't want to help people who actually need assistance.

•I understand the frustration but they're dealing with way more claims than the system was designed to handle. Doesn't make it less annoying though.

has anyone tried using the callback feature? i saw it mentioned somewhere but cant find it on the website

Omar Hassan
•I don't think Washington ESD has a callback feature. You might be thinking of a different state's system.

•oh ok that makes sense, was hoping there was an easier way

I work third shift so calling during business hours is really hard for me. Wish they had evening hours or weekend service for urgent issues.

•That's such a good point. Not everyone works a traditional schedule but we still need help with our claims.

•You could try using your lunch break to call, that's what I do when I'm working days.

Called 47 times yesterday starting at 8am and never got through. This is insane. How are we supposed to resolve issues with our claims if we can't talk to anyone?

Ravi Gupta
•47 times?! That's dedication. I give up after like 10 tries.

•I keep a tally too. My record is 63 calls in one day with no success. Really considering that Claimyr service at this point.

For what it's worth, I finally got through yesterday by calling at exactly 8:00 AM and it only took 12 tries. Sometimes you just get lucky I guess.

•12 tries sounds amazing compared to what some people are dealing with. Glad you finally got through!

•Just needed to verify my identity for my weekly claim. Pretty straightforward issue which might be why it went faster.

The automated system tells you the estimated wait time but it's never accurate. Said 15 minutes and I waited over an hour before giving up.

•Same experience here. The wait time estimates are completely useless.

•At least you got into the queue! That's further than most people get.

I tried that Claimyr service and honestly it was worth it just for peace of mind. Instead of spending hours trying to call, I could actually focus on job searching while they handled getting me connected to Washington ESD.

•That's a good point about being able to focus on other things. All this calling is taking up so much time.

•I'm still not sure about using a third party service for something this important.

•I get the hesitation but they just make the call for you, they don't handle any of your personal information or claim details. Worth checking out their video demo to see how it works.
