What time do Washington ESD unemployment offices close - need to get there today
Does anyone know what time the Washington ESD unemployment offices close? I need to drop off some paperwork for my claim today but can't find the hours anywhere online. I've been trying to call but keep getting busy signals. My adjudication has been pending for 2 weeks and I really need to get this stuff turned in. Are they open until 5pm or do they close earlier?

most washington esd offices close at 4:30pm but it depends on which location you're going to. some close at 4pm. you should call ahead to make sure they're even accepting walk-ins

•That's the problem - I can't get through on the phone! It just rings busy or disconnects after being on hold forever.

•same issue here, been trying to call for days with no luck

You might want to check if your local WorkSource office can help with Washington ESD paperwork. Some of them have extended hours and can assist with unemployment claims. Also, many documents can be submitted online through your SecureAccess Washington account instead of in person.

•I tried uploading online but the file size is too big and it keeps timing out. These are original documents so I'm worried about mailing them.

•Try scanning at a lower resolution or splitting into multiple files. The system can be finicky but it's usually faster than trying to get to an office.

I had this same problem last month trying to reach Washington ESD. Spent hours calling and never got through. Someone told me about this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually gets you connected to ESD agents. I was skeptical but tried it and got through in like 15 minutes. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. Might be worth checking out if you need to talk to someone urgently about your adjudication.

•How much does that cost? Sounds too good to be true

•It's way cheaper than taking time off work repeatedly to try calling. The main thing is it actually works - I got my adjudication issue resolved the same day.

•I've heard of this but wasn't sure if it was legit. Good to know it worked for someone

Most Washington ESD offices have been reducing their walk-in hours since COVID. A lot of locations are appointment-only now. The Tacoma office closes at 4pm, Seattle is 4:30pm, but Spokane is only open until 3:30pm for walk-ins. Your best bet is really to handle everything online or by phone if possible.

•wait they're appointment only? when did that change??

•It varies by location. Some still take walk-ins but you might wait for hours. I'd definitely call first to confirm they can help with your specific issue.

I work at a WorkSource office and can tell you that we close at 5pm but stop taking new people at 4:45pm. For Washington ESD stuff, we can help with basic questions but anything involving adjudication or appeals usually needs to go directly to ESD. Have you tried calling the main customer service line at different times of day?

•I've tried morning, afternoon, doesn't matter. Always busy or I get disconnected after waiting on hold.

•Try calling right at 8am when they open. Sometimes that's the only time that works

•8am is the worst time! Everyone calls then. I had better luck around 2pm on Wednesdays

This whole system is broken. I've been waiting 3 weeks for my weekly claim to process and can't get anyone on the phone. Washington ESD needs to hire more people or fix their phone system. It's ridiculous that we have to jump through hoops just to get basic information about our own claims.

•Completely agree. I'm on week 4 of adjudication with no updates

•Have you tried the Claimyr thing someone mentioned above? I just used it yesterday and finally got through to someone at ESD

Check the Washington ESD website - they have office locations and hours listed. But honestly most stuff can be done online now. What kind of paperwork are you trying to submit? There might be an easier way.

•It's verification documents for my adjudication. Pay stubs, separation notice, that kind of stuff. The website says I can upload them but like I said it keeps failing.

•Try using a different browser or clearing your cache. Sometimes that fixes upload issues

I went to the Olympia office last week and they close at 4:30 but stop helping people at 4:00. Got there at 4:10 and they turned me away. Waste of time and gas money. Definitely call ahead if you're going to drive there.

•That's so frustrating! Did you end up getting your issue resolved another way?

•Yeah I ended up using that Claimyr service to get through on the phone. Wish I had known about it sooner, would have saved me the trip.

Pro tip: if you're going to an office, bring everything twice. They love to tell you you're missing something and make you come back. Also get there early because they take forever with each person.

•This is so true! I had to make 3 trips because they kept finding new requirements

•Why is the Washington ESD so difficult to work with? Other states seem way more efficient

If you're in King County, the Seattle office downtown closes at 4:30 but parking is terrible. The Renton WorkSource location might be easier and they can help with some ESD stuff. They're open until 5pm.

Has anyone tried faxing documents to Washington ESD? I know it's old school but sometimes it works better than their online system. The fax number should be on their website.

•I tried faxing last month and never got confirmation it was received. At least with online uploads you get a receipt

I'm dealing with a similar adjudication delay. Two weeks isn't that long unfortunately - mine took 6 weeks to resolve. The waiting is the hardest part because you can't plan anything. Have you been filing your weekly claims while waiting?

Katherine Ziminski
•Yes I'm still filing weekly but they're not paying out until the adjudication is done. Bills are piling up and I'm getting stressed.

•Keep filing no matter what! If you miss weeks you might not get backpay for those periods

Instead of trying to visit an office, you could try the online chat feature if it's working. Sometimes that's faster than phone calls. Though it might not be available for adjudication issues.

•It's not always available and has limited functionality. Mainly for basic questions about filing claims

Final update - I ended up trying the Claimyr service mentioned earlier and got through to Washington ESD in about 20 minutes. The agent was able to check on my adjudication status and told me what additional documents they needed. Saved me a trip to the office and a lot of frustration. Thanks to whoever recommended it!

•That's awesome! How much did it end up costing?

•Way less than the gas and time I would have spent trying to get to an office. Plus I got actual answers instead of just dropping off paperwork and hoping for the best.
