What time does Washington ESD unemployment office close - need to get there today
Does anyone know what time the Washington ESD unemployment office closes? I need to drop off some paperwork for my claim today but can't find the hours anywhere online. The website just says to call but I've been trying for hours and can't get through. My adjudication has been pending for weeks and I'm worried if I don't get this form in today it'll delay things even more. Anyone been to a local office recently?

Most Washington ESD offices close at 4:30 PM on weekdays. But honestly, you might want to call first because some locations have limited hours or are appointment-only since COVID. The customer service line is 800-318-6022 but yeah, it's nearly impossible to get through.

•Thanks! I'll try calling one more time. Do you know if they accept walk-ins or do I need an appointment?

•It varies by location. Some do walk-ins but most prefer appointments now. Check the specific office location on the Washington ESD website.

I've been trying to reach them for 3 weeks about my pending adjudication. The phone system is absolutely useless - it just hangs up on you after being on hold forever. Really frustrating when you need help with your claim.

•Have you tried using Claimyr? I found it on claimyr.com and it actually helped me get through to a Washington ESD agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Worth checking out if you're stuck in phone hell like the rest of us.

•Never heard of that. Does it actually work? I'm desperate at this point.

•Yeah it worked for me. Took like 20 minutes to get connected instead of hours of calling. Way better than the regular phone system.

The Olympia WorkSource office is open Monday-Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Seattle location closes at 4 PM. But for adjudication paperwork, you can also fax documents to 360-902-9797 or upload them through your SecureAccess Washington account if you have one set up.

•Oh I didn't know about the fax option! That might be easier than driving there. Is there a specific fax cover sheet I need to include?

•Include your Social Security Number and claim number on the cover sheet. Make sure to keep copies of everything you send.

•Right? It's like they don't want people to actually use their services. The whole system is designed to be difficult.

•They probably figure if you're on unemployment you should be available during business hours. Still doesn't help when you have job interviews or other appointments.

Just remembered - some offices have extended hours on certain days. The Spokane office stays open until 6 PM on Thursdays. Might be worth checking if your local office has anything similar.

•That's helpful! I'll check the Tacoma office schedule. Hopefully they have something like that.

I went to the Everett office last month and they close at 4:30 sharp. Got there at 4:25 and they wouldn't let me in even though I could see people still inside. Really annoying.

•That's so frustrating! Did you end up going back another day?

•Yeah had to take another day off work. Finally got my stuff sorted but it was a huge hassle.

Honestly, after dealing with this for months, I'd recommend trying Claimyr first before wasting time going to the office. It's way more efficient than the regular phone system and you don't have to drive anywhere.

•Is there a cost for using that service? Sounds too good to be true.

•There is a fee but it's worth it when you consider the time and gas money saved. Plus actually getting through to talk to someone about your claim.

The whole Washington ESD system is such a mess. Between the phone system not working and the offices having limited hours, it's like they don't want to help people.

•It's definitely frustrating. The pandemic made everything worse but even before that it was hard to get help when you needed it.

•at least they finally got rid of that stupid phone system that would just hang up on you immediately. now it at least pretends to try to help lol

For future reference, most Washington ESD business can be handled online through your SecureAccess Washington account. Weekly claims, document uploads, checking claim status, etc. It's available 24/7 which is way more convenient than office hours.

•I tried uploading documents online but it keeps giving me an error. That's why I need to go in person or fax them.

•Try using a different browser or clearing your cache. The site can be finicky sometimes. Chrome seems to work best in my experience.

I work at a job center and can confirm most Washington ESD offices close at 4:30 PM weekdays. Some locations might close earlier on Fridays though. Always call ahead if you're making a special trip.

•Thanks for the insider info! Do you know if they're usually busy right before closing time?

Giovanni Martello
•Yeah, end of day tends to be busy with people rushing to get there before closing. Mid-morning is usually better if you have flexibility.

Just an FYI - if you're dropping off adjudication paperwork, make sure you get a receipt or some kind of confirmation. I dropped stuff off once and they claimed they never got it.

•Good point! I'll definitely ask for a receipt. Can't afford to have this get lost.

•That's why I always fax things with a confirmation page. Creates a paper trail.

The Vancouver office is 8-4:30 M-F. But honestly after trying to get help there multiple times, I ended up using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Actually got to talk to someone who could explain what was happening with my claim.

•I'm seriously considering trying that. The regular phone system is just impossible.

•Do it. I wish I'd found it sooner instead of wasting weeks trying to get through the normal way.

For anyone else looking for office hours, the Washington ESD website has a location finder with hours listed for each office. Just search for 'WorkSource locations' and it should pull up the info.

•I looked there but couldn't find specific hours for some locations. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

•Try the 'Contact Us' section on the main Washington ESD page. It has better location details.

Been dealing with unemployment for 6 months now and the best advice I can give is to have multiple ways to contact them. Phone, fax, in-person, online - use whatever works. Don't rely on just one method.

•Good advice. I'll try the fax option today and maybe go in person tomorrow if that doesn't work.

Most offices are 8 AM to 4:30 PM but some smaller locations might have different hours. The Wenatchee office closes at 4 PM for example. Always verify before making the trip.

•That's a good point about smaller offices. The rural locations often have more limited hours.

I've found that calling right when they open at 8 AM gives you the best chance of getting through. Still not great odds but better than calling later in the day.

•I tried that and still got disconnected after 2 hours on hold. The phone system is just broken.

•That's exactly why services like Claimyr exist. When the regular system doesn't work, you need alternatives.

•Great choice on the fax option. Much more reliable than hoping to get to an office in time.
