What number does Washington ESD unemployment call you from?

I've been waiting for a call back from Washington ESD about my adjudication issue for over a week now. They said someone would call me within 3-5 business days but I haven't heard anything. I'm worried I might have missed their call because I don't recognize the number. Does anyone know what phone number Washington ESD uses when they call claimants? I want to make sure I'm not accidentally declining their calls thinking it's spam.

They usually call from a blocked number or it shows up as 'Unknown' on caller ID. Sometimes it might show a 360 area code since that's where Olympia is located but don't count on it.

0 coins

That's what I was afraid of. I've been declining unknown calls because of all the spam lately.

0 coins

Same here! I probably missed like 3 calls from them last month because of this.

0 coins

I had my adjudication interview last month and they called from a number that showed up as 'Washington State' on my phone. But I've heard other people say theirs came through as private or blocked. It's really inconsistent unfortunately.

0 coins

How long did you wait for your call? I'm going on 8 business days now and getting really anxious.

0 coins

It took about 2 weeks for me. They're really backed up with adjudications right now.

0 coins

If you're tired of waiting for them to call you back, I found this service called Claimyr that actually helps you get through to Washington ESD agents directly. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows exactly how it works. I used it when I was stuck waiting for an adjudication callback and got through to someone the same day.

0 coins

Is that legit? Sounds too good to be true with how impossible it is to reach anyone at Washington ESD.

0 coins

I was skeptical too but it actually worked. Way better than sitting by the phone waiting for them to maybe call me back.

0 coins

ANSWER ALL UNKNOWN CALLS during business hours if you're waiting for Washington ESD!! I learned this the hard way. They called me twice and I missed both calls because I thought they were telemarketers. Had to wait another 3 weeks to get rescheduled.

0 coins

Did they leave voicemails when they called?

0 coins

Nope, no voicemail either time. That's how I knew I messed up when I saw my claim notes updated saying 'unable to reach claimant'.

0 coins

Oh no, that's my worst nightmare right there

0 coins

The number that called me showed up as 360-902-9500 but when I tried calling it back it just went to the main Washington ESD line. So even if you see the number, it might not be a direct callback line.

0 coins

That's so frustrating! Why can't they just use a consistent number that people can recognize?

0 coins

Right? The whole system is set up to make it as difficult as possible to actually talk to a human.

0 coins

Pro tip: if you think you missed a call from them, check your SecureAccess Washington account. They usually update your case notes or correspondence section if they tried to reach you and couldn't get through.

0 coins

Good idea, I'll check that right now. Thanks!

0 coins

Yeah this saved me once. I saw they tried to call and I was able to call back the same day.

0 coins

Honestly the callback system is broken. I waited 6 weeks for my adjudication call and when they finally called, the connection was so bad I could barely hear the interviewer. Had to do the whole thing over again.

0 coins

6 weeks?! That's insane. Did you try calling them yourself during that time?

0 coins

Tried hundreds of times. Could never get through. Just busy signal or got hung up on after being on hold for hours.

0 coins

For what it's worth, when they do call you, make sure you're in a quiet place with good cell reception. The call quality is usually pretty poor and they won't repeat questions if you can't hear them clearly.

0 coins

Good to know. I'll make sure to stay home during business hours until they call.

0 coins

And have all your paperwork ready! They don't give you time to look stuff up during the interview.

0 coins

Since you mentioned being stuck waiting, that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier really does work for situations like this. Instead of waiting weeks for a callback, you can actually reach an agent directly to check on your adjudication status or even request to speak with someone about your case.

0 coins

I might have to try that if I don't hear back by Friday. This waiting is killing me.

0 coins

I wish I had known about this when I was going through my adjudication nightmare last year.

0 coins

They called me from 253-xxx-xxxx last week but I can't remember the exact number. It was definitely a 253 area code though, which is Tacoma area I think?

0 coins

That's helpful, I'll keep an eye out for 253 numbers too.

0 coins

Yeah they have offices all over the state so the area code can vary depending on who's calling you.

0 coins

Just answer every single call during business hours. I know it sucks but it's the only way to make sure you don't miss them. I put my phone on speaker and just answered everything for two weeks straight.

0 coins

That's what I'm going to have to do. Can't risk missing the call and having to start over.

0 coins

Same, I basically became a prisoner in my own home waiting for that call.

0 coins

The most annoying part is they never call when they say they will. They told me 3-5 business days and it was actually 12 business days. And of course when they finally called, I was in the bathroom and missed it by 10 seconds.

0 coins

Oh no! Were you able to get them to call back quickly?

0 coins

Took another week and a half to get rescheduled. I was so mad.

0 coins

This is why I don't trust their timeframes anymore. They're always way off.

0 coins

For anyone dealing with this kind of runaround, seriously check out that Claimyr service. It's so much better than playing phone tag with Washington ESD for weeks on end. The peace of mind alone is worth it when you're waiting for adjudication results.

0 coins

I looked at their video demo and it actually looks pretty straightforward. Might give it a shot.

0 coins

At this point I'm willing to try anything. The stress of waiting is worse than the adjudication itself.

0 coins

Whatever you do, don't let the call go to voicemail even if you recognize it might be them. They won't leave a message and they'll mark it as 'claimant unavailable' in your file.

0 coins

Good to know. I'll literally answer every call during business hours until this is resolved.

0 coins

Yep, learned this lesson the hard way too. They're very strict about actually speaking to you live.

0 coins

If it helps, most of the calls I've gotten from Washington ESD come between 10am and 3pm on weekdays. They don't seem to call early in the morning or late in the afternoon very often.

0 coins

That's actually really helpful timing info. I can plan my day around those hours.

0 coins

Mine came at 8:30am on a Tuesday so I wouldn't count on that timing being consistent.

0 coins

The whole callback system is just broken honestly. In 2025 there should be better ways to communicate than playing phone tag for weeks. Other states have online messaging systems but Washington is stuck in the stone age.

0 coins

Seriously! My friend in Oregon can chat with unemployment agents online. Meanwhile we're over here waiting by the phone like it's 1995.

0 coins

I would pay good money for an online chat option right now.

0 coins

One more tip - if you do miss their call, call the main line immediately and explain what happened. Sometimes they can transfer you directly to the person who was trying to reach you instead of making you wait for another callback.

0 coins

Really? I didn't know that was possible. Good to know as a backup plan.

0 coins

This worked for me once but only because I called within like 15 minutes of missing their call.

0 coins

Update us when you finally hear back! I'm curious how long your wait ends up being. Seems like everyone's experience is totally different with these callbacks.

0 coins

Will do! Hopefully it's sooner rather than later. Thanks everyone for all the advice and tips.

0 coins

Or let us know if you end up trying Claimyr instead of waiting! Always curious to hear other people's experiences with it.

0 coins

Good luck! The waiting is definitely the worst part of this whole process. Once you actually talk to someone it usually gets resolved pretty quickly.

0 coins

Thanks! That's reassuring to hear. I'm hoping once I get through to someone it'll be straightforward.

0 coins

Yeah the actual interview part isn't too bad, it's just getting there that's the nightmare.

0 coins

Hang in there! I know it's stressful but you'll get through this. The adjudication process sucks but most people do get approved eventually if they qualified for benefits in the first place.

0 coins

I really needed to hear that today. Thank you for the encouragement!

0 coins

Definitely! The vast majority of adjudications get resolved in the claimant's favor once they actually get to explain their situation.

0 coins

This whole thread has been so helpful! I'm in a similar situation waiting for my adjudication call and was getting really anxious about missing it. Now I know to answer every unknown call during business hours and check my SecureAccess account regularly. The uncertainty is definitely the hardest part - not knowing when they'll call or what number it'll come from.
