How do I contact Washington ESD unemployment - can't get through on phone
I've been trying to reach Washington ESD for two weeks now and I'm getting nowhere. My claim has been stuck in adjudication and I need to speak with someone about missing documents they supposedly need. Every time I call the main number I either get busy signals or sit on hold for 3+ hours just to get disconnected. I've tried calling first thing in the morning, during lunch, even late afternoon - nothing works. There has to be a better way to contact them than just calling the same number over and over. Anyone have tips on actually getting through to a real person at Washington ESD?

The best time to call is right when they open at 8am sharp. Have your Social Security number and claim info ready. The main customer service line is 800-318-6022. You can also try messaging through your SecureAccess Washington account, but response times are usually 5-7 business days.

•I've tried the 8am thing multiple times and still can't get through. The hold music just plays for hours then disconnects me.

•Same experience here - been calling for a month with no luck getting through to anyone

I had the same problem with my adjudication taking forever. What finally worked for me was using Claimyr to get through to Washington ESD. It's a service that handles the calling for you - you just schedule a callback and they connect you when an agent is available. Check out claimyr.com, they even have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works.

•Is that legit? I've never heard of using a third party service to call Washington ESD.

•Yeah it's real - I was skeptical at first too but it actually worked. Got connected to an agent within 2 days instead of trying to call myself for weeks.

•How much does something like that cost? I'm already broke waiting for my benefits to come through.

Try calling the employer line instead - 855-682-0785. Sometimes they transfer you to the right department and the wait times are shorter. Also make sure you're not calling during peak times like Monday mornings when everyone is filing their weekly claims.

•Will they help with individual claims or is that line just for employers?

•They might transfer you if you explain your situation. Worth a shot when the main line isn't working.

honestly the whole system is broken. ive been trying to reach them for months about an overpayment notice and cant get anywhere. they want me to pay back $2000 but wont explain why

•For overpayment issues you need to request an appeal in writing. Don't just try calling - send them documentation through your online account.

•where do i find the appeal form? their website is confusing as hell

Have you tried the live chat feature on the Washington ESD website? Sometimes that's faster than calling. You have to catch it when it's available though - usually disappears by mid-morning.

•I looked for live chat but couldn't find it. Where exactly is it located on their site?

•It's on the main unemployment page but only shows up certain hours. Usually gone by 10am because too many people are using it.

I've been calling every single day for 3 weeks. Literally keeping a log of my attempts. Called 127 times so far and only got through to the main menu 8 times. Never actually spoke to a human being. This is ridiculous for a government service.

•This is exactly why I ended up using Claimyr. The regular calling system is completely broken.

•Maybe I should look into that. Can't be worse than what I'm doing now.

Try calling your local WorkSource office. They sometimes have direct lines to Washington ESD or can help you submit documents. The staff there usually knows which adjudicators to contact for specific issues.

•Good idea! I didn't think about going through WorkSource. Do they help with all types of claim issues?

•They can help with basic stuff and document submission. For complex adjudication issues you'll still need to talk to Washington ESD directly though.

What kind of documents are they asking for? Sometimes you can upload them through your online account instead of having to call. Check the 'Upload Documents' section in your claim portal.

•They want additional wage verification from my last employer but the upload section says 'no documents required' for my claim.

•That's weird - might be a system glitch. You'll definitely need to talk to someone about that discrepancy.

I used to work at a call center and here's the thing - they have quotas for how many calls they can take per day. If you call later in the day they might have already hit their numbers and just not answer. Try calling exactly at 8:00 AM when the queue resets.

Isabella Silva
•That makes sense but I've tried the 8am thing so many times with no luck.

•Yeah the system is overwhelmed. That's probably why these callback services are becoming popular.

Does anyone know if there's a way to email them directly? I found some generic contact forms but they just send auto-replies saying to call the main number.

•There's no direct email for individual claims. Everything has to go through the phone system or your online account messaging.

•So frustrating. Every other government agency has email contact but not Washington ESD.

I finally got through last week after 6 weeks of trying. The agent told me they're getting 10x more calls than normal and most people have to call dozens of times. She said the best advice is to just keep trying or use one of those callback services.

•What did you end up calling about? Were they able to resolve your issue?

•Had to verify my identity for adjudication. Took 5 minutes once I got connected but took 6 weeks to get that 5 minute call.

try the technical support line 855-682-0785 they sometimes can help with account issues or transfer you to the right department

•Is that different from the employer line someone mentioned earlier?

I've been dealing with this for my mom who's 67 and doesn't understand computers. She's been trying to call for unemployment help for a month. Finally found out about Claimyr from a friend and they got her connected to Washington ESD in two days. Worth every penny when you're dealing with this broken phone system.

•That's exactly my situation - I just need to talk to someone about missing documents but can't get through.

•Yeah, that's what my mom needed too. The agent was able to see exactly what documents they needed and walked her through uploading them.

Have you tried calling right before they close at 4pm? Sometimes there's less volume then. Also make sure you're calling 800-318-6022 and not one of the other numbers that might be outdated.

Isabella Silva
•I'll try the 4pm thing. Been using the 800 number but maybe I should double-check it's still current.

•Yeah that's the right number. The afternoon thing worked for me once but took 3 hours on hold.

This is why I hate dealing with government agencies. Private companies have live chat, email, callback options. Washington ESD has one phone number that never works. It's 2025 and they're still operating like it's 1995.

•That's exactly why services like Claimyr exist - to work around these broken government systems.

•Shouldn't have to pay a third party to contact a government agency but here we are.

Whatever you do, don't give up calling. I know it's frustrating but your adjudication won't move forward until you provide those documents they're asking for. Keep trying different times of day and different approaches.

•Thanks for the encouragement. I'm worried my claim will get denied if I can't get through soon.

•They usually give you time to respond but don't wait too long. Maybe try that callback service people mentioned if regular calling isn't working.

Update: I ended up trying Claimyr after reading about it here. Got connected to Washington ESD yesterday and the agent was able to see exactly what documents they needed for my adjudication. Turns out it was just a wage verification form that I can get from my HR department. Should have my benefits released next week. Thanks everyone!
