Weekly claim stuck in 'processing' status after MLK holiday - should I be worried?
I filed my weekly claim Sunday night like I always do, but it's still showing 'processing' status in my ESD account. Normally by Tuesday morning it switches to 'paid' but nothing has changed yet. I'm wondering if this is because of Martin Luther King Jr. Day yesterday? Has anyone else noticed their claim is taking longer to process this week? Getting a little nervous since rent is due next week and I can't afford any delays in my benefits right now.

Same here!!! Mine ALWAYS processes by Tuesday morning but it's still stuck on processing. Gotta be the holiday messing things up. It's so frustrating because they never tell us about these delays. Like, would it kill them to put a banner on the website saying 'payments delayed due to holiday'?? I hate this constant anxiety wondering if I'm getting paid.

•Seriously! A simple notification would help so much. I'm checking my account every hour like a crazy person.

holidays always delay everything with ESD. they run on bank schedules so MLK day means all the payment processing got pushed back by a day. should update by tomorrow morning, maybe end of day today if ur lucky

This is completely normal after a banking holiday. Any federal holiday will delay ESD payment processing by one business day. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday, so claims that would normally process Monday were pushed to Tuesday, and Tuesday's normal processing moved to Wednesday. Your claim should update to 'paid' status by end of day today or early tomorrow. The funds typically hit your bank account or debit card 24-48 hours after the status changes to 'paid'. If your claim is still showing 'processing' by Friday morning, then you might want to contact ESD to check if there's an issue.

•Thank you for the clear explanation! That makes me feel much better. I'll give it until Friday before I worry too much.

I've been on unemployment for 8 months now and every single holiday causes this exact same panic for me. Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years... each time I think 'this is it, they've cut me off!' but it's just the holiday delay. I wish ESD would make this clearer in their communications because it causes so much unnecessary stress for people who are already struggling financially. BTW - I learned that if you need to actually talk to someone at ESD about your claim (for when there are REAL problems), I used a service called Claimyr that got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes when I had been trying for days on my own. They have a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Saved me a ton of frustration when I had that identity verification issue last month.

•Does that Claimyr thing really work? I spent 3 HOURS on hold last month and then got disconnected right when I was about to talk to someone ðŸ˜

•It worked for me! Got through in about 20 mins when I'd been trying for days. Worth checking out the video to see how it works.

Holidays always delay the unemployment payment processing schedule. Here's how the ESD payment timeline typically works: 1. You file your weekly claim (Sunday-Saturday) 2. ESD processes claims on the next business day after filing 3. Payments typically post to your account 1-2 business days after processing With MLK Day being a federal holiday, the ESD offices were closed, so Monday's processing was pushed to Tuesday, and Tuesday's normal processing moved to Wednesday. If your claim has no issues, it should move from 'processing' to 'paid' status by the end of today or early tomorrow morning. The actual funds would then typically arrive in your account by Thursday or Friday.

•That sounds like it's actually processed successfully! The payment amount showing is a good sign. The status labels sometimes lag behind the actual payment processing. Check your bank account tomorrow, and you'll likely see the deposit.

this happened to me after thanksgiving too i freaked out and called esd like 40 times but it was just the holiday. mine just switched to paid status like 10 minutes ago so check yours! btw does anyone know if we still have to do the job search requirements even on holiday weeks? i did my 3 activities but now im wondering if i even needed to lol

•Yes, the job search requirements still apply during weeks with holidays. You always need to complete at least 3 job search activities each week you claim benefits, regardless of holidays. The only exception would be if you have an approved standby status or are in an approved training program with a job search waiver.

UPDATE: Mine just switched to 'paid' status! Looks like it was definitely just delayed because of the holiday. Thanks everyone for the reassurance. This system gives me so much anxiety sometimes.
