PA UC payment delay due to MLK Jr holiday? Still showing 'in progress'

I filed my weekly claim on Sunday night like I always do, but my payment is still showing 'in progress' in the portal. Normally by Wednesday morning it's at least switched to 'payment issued' status. Is the Martin Luther King Jr holiday on Monday causing delays for everyone or should I be worried something's wrong with my claim? This is week 8 of my benefit year and I haven't had any problems until now. Anyone else experiencing delays this week?

Yep, holiday delays are definitely a thing with PA UC. Since banks were closed Monday for MLK Day, everything gets pushed back one business day. Your payment will probably show as issued tomorrow. I wouldn't worry unless it's still stuck by Friday. The system is super sensitive to holidays - even the ones you might not think about can cause delays.

OMG I'm having the SAME ISSUE!!! Filed Sunday, usually get paid Wednesday, still showing in progress! I was freaking out thinking they found some problem with my claim. I totally forgot about the MLK holiday on Monday. So relieved it's not just me!!!!

That makes me feel a little better knowing I'm not alone. Just hate when anything changes with the payments because I've got bills scheduled around when they normally hit my account.

The holiday is definitely causing delays. Here's how PA UC payment processing works: They process claims on business days only. With Monday being a holiday, everything gets pushed back one day. So if you normally see payment issued on Wednesday, expect it Thursday this week. The Money Network card deposits might take an additional day as well. This happens with all federal holidays - mark your calendar for Presidents Day in February too!

Actually my brother in law still got his payment on the normal day this week and he's on UC too. So I don't think it's affecting everyone the same way. The system is so random sometimes.

Just to confirm what others have said - yes, the MLK holiday is causing payment delays. As a general rule, any federal holiday will delay UC payments by at least one business day. If you filed on Sunday, you should see your payment status change to "issued" on Thursday instead of Wednesday, and it will typically be available on your Money Network card or direct deposit on Friday. If your payment doesn't update by Friday morning, then you might want to contact PA UC to check if there's an issue. However, their phone lines are extremely difficult to get through.

If you need to actually reach someone at PA UC without spending all day redialing, I used Claimyr last month when I had an open issue that wouldn't resolve. You can watch how it works at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 - basically they hold your place in line and call you when they get a rep on the phone. Saved me literally hours of redial attempts, and I got my issue fixed in one call.

Has anyone checked their payment status today? Mine finally switched to "payment issued" about an hour ago! Looks like it was just the holiday delay after all.

Just checked mine and it also changed to "payment issued"! Such a relief. Thanks everyone for confirming it was just the holiday delay. I'll remember this for future holidays.

My sister had this same issue but her payment never came through and she found out she had an "open issue" on her claim. Make sure you check that section of your dashboard too just to be safe.

I double-checked and don't see any open issues listed. My payment status changed to issued today so I think I'm good. Hope your sister got her issue resolved!
