Is there a delay unemployment benefits this week with Washington ESD payments?
My usual benefit payment from Washington ESD didn't hit my account yesterday like it normally does on Tuesdays. I filed my weekly claim on Sunday as usual and it shows processed in my account. Is anyone else experiencing delays with their unemployment payments this week? I'm starting to worry something went wrong with my claim.

Mine was delayed too! Usually get it Tuesday morning but nothing yet. Called the customer service line but couldn't get through.

•Glad I'm not the only one. Was worried my claim got flagged for something.

•There might be a system maintenance issue. Check the Washington ESD website for any announcements about delays.

I work in banking and we've seen delays from Washington ESD this week. It's likely a processing delay on their end, not an issue with individual claims. Should resolve within 24-48 hours.

•That's reassuring, thank you. Do you know if this happens often?

•Occasionally, especially during high volume periods or system updates. Your benefits are still there, just delayed in processing.

If you're having trouble reaching Washington ESD about payment delays, I found this service called Claimyr that helps get through to agents faster. They have a website at claimyr.com and there's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. Might be worth checking out if you need to verify your payment status.

•Never heard of that before. Does it actually work or is it just another scam?

•I was skeptical too but it actually connected me to an agent in about 10 minutes when I couldn't get through on my own for days.

•How much does something like that cost? I'm already tight on money waiting for this payment.

SAME HERE! This is so frustrating. I have bills due and was counting on that money today. Washington ESD needs to get their act together.

•I understand the frustration but delays do happen with any large system. At least it's not an issue with your eligibility.

•Easy for you to say when you're not living paycheck to paycheck on these benefits.

Just checked my account and mine posted this morning around 11am, so they might be processing them in batches throughout the day.

•What bank do you use? Maybe some banks are getting them faster than others.

•I use Bank of America. What about you?

•I'm with Chase. Still nothing as of noon today.

This happened to me a few months ago. Turned out Washington ESD was doing maintenance on their payment system over the weekend and it caused delays. Check your claim history online - if it shows 'paid' then the money is coming.

•Mine does show paid for this week. How long did your delay last?

•About 2 days total. Got it on Thursday instead of Tuesday.

Are you sure you filed your weekly claim correctly? Sometimes if you answer the work search questions wrong it can delay payment.

•I've been filing the same way for months. Nothing changed in my answers.

•The work search requirements are pretty straightforward. You need 3 job contacts per week unless you're on standby.

UPDATE: Just got mine at 2:30pm today. Looks like they're processing them late but they are going through.

This is why I always keep a small emergency fund even when on unemployment. You never know when these delays will happen.

•Must be nice to have extra money to save. Some of us are barely making rent on unemployment benefits.

•I get it, just suggesting even $20-30 set aside when possible can help with these situations.

I had an issue last month where I thought there was a delay but it turned out my claim was under adjudication review. Might want to double-check your account for any pending issues.

Emma Morales
•Just checked and no adjudication flags or anything. Status shows normal.

Donna Cline
•If there was an adjudication issue it would be clearly marked in your account. This sounds like a simple processing delay.

For future reference, if you ever need to talk to someone at Washington ESD about payment issues, I used Claimyr recently and it was a game changer. Saved me hours of trying to call.

•Is that the service someone mentioned earlier? How does it work exactly?

•Yeah, you give them your info and they basically call Washington ESD for you and connect you when they get through. Way better than sitting on hold for hours.

FINAL UPDATE: Got my payment at 4pm today. Looks like it was just a system delay like others said. Thanks everyone for the info!

This thread was really helpful. I was starting to panic thinking I did something wrong with my weekly claim filing.

•Same here! Sometimes it helps just knowing you're not alone with these issues.

•Washington ESD should really send out notifications when there are known delays. Would save everyone a lot of stress.

I work for a credit union and we had about 20 members call today asking about missing unemployment deposits. Definitely a widespread delay, not individual account issues.

•That's really good to know. Makes me feel much better about the situation.

For anyone still waiting, I just called Washington ESD using that Claimyr service and the agent confirmed there was a technical issue with their payment processing system yesterday. All delayed payments should be released by end of business today.

•Thank god, I was about to have a complete meltdown. How long did it take to get through with that service?

Ellie Perry
•About 15 minutes total. Way better than the 3 hours I spent trying to call on my own yesterday.

Just wanted to add that if your payment is still delayed tomorrow, check if you need to verify your identity. Sometimes that can cause delays too.

•Good point. I verified mine months ago but I know they sometimes ask for reverification.

This is exactly why I switched to having my benefits loaded onto the debit card instead of direct deposit. Seems like the card gets loaded more reliably.

Lourdes Fox
•Really? I thought direct deposit was supposed to be faster.

Teresa Boyd
•Usually it is, but when there are system issues like this week, the debit card payments seem less affected.
