Got ESD payment approval but nothing in my bank account - how long to deposit?

So I've been battling with my unemployment claim for weeks and FINALLY got approved last night (thank goodness!). The ESD website claims my payment was processed today, but I've checked my bank account like 15 times and nothing's shown up yet. I'm starting to get worried because I have bills due tomorrow. Is there some kind of delay between when ESD says 'paid' and when it actually hits your account? Anyone know how long this normally takes? This is my first time on unemployment so I'm completely clueless about the timeline.

depends on ur bank. mine usually takes 2-3 business days after esd says paid. some ppl get it next day. they dont process on weekends fyi

Thanks! That's a relief to hear. I was starting to think something went wrong with my direct deposit info. Guess I'll just have to be patient for a couple more days.

The ESD payment timeline varies based on your payment method: • Direct deposit: Usually 1-3 business days after the ESD website shows "paid" status • Debit card: Can take 2-4 business days to load onto your ReliaCard It's also worth noting that if this is your very first payment, it sometimes takes an extra day to process through the system. The payment status will show "paid" on the ESD side before your bank actually receives and processes the deposit. As long as your payment shows successful in your ESD account, your money is on the way!

This isn't always true though!! Mine showed "paid" for TWO WEEKS and still nothing in my account. Turns out they had an issue with my identity verification that nobody told me about. Had to call like 50 times to finally get through to someone who fixed it.

I got approved yesterday too! *high five* My situation is exactly like yours - says paid but nothing in my account yet. First timer here too.

*high five back* Haha nice to know I'm not alone in this! Let me know when yours comes through?

Just got mine this morning! About 36 hours after it said "paid" on the website. Check yours!

When you see "paid" on the ESD site, it means they've initiated the payment process on their end, but it still has to go through the banking system. Think of it like writing a check - just because you wrote it doesn't mean the money instantly transfers. In my experience with Washington ESD: - First payment: took 3 business days - Regular payments after that: usually 1-2 business days If you're still not seeing anything by day 4, then it's worth investigating. Check that your bank information is entered correctly in your ESD account (routing/account numbers). Small errors there can cause significant delays.

That makes perfect sense. This is my first payment so I'll wait the 3 days before I start panicking! And I double-checked my banking info when I set up my account, but I'll triple-check it now just to be safe.

i had same problem last month and turns out my bank was holding the deposit for 24 hours because it was my first direct deposit from a government agency. maybe call your bank and ask if theres a hold?

That's a great suggestion - didn't even think about that! I'll call my bank right now and check.

After dealing with the ESD system for months during my own unemployment, I can tell you their payment processing is reliable but not instant. The most frustrating part is actually reaching someone at ESD if you do have an issue. I spent days trying to get through on their phone lines when I had a payment problem. Finally found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me connect with an ESD agent quickly. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 that shows how it works. Saved me tons of time when I needed to sort out why my payment was delayed. That said, your situation sounds normal - first payments typically take 2-3 business days to show up after the ESD system marks them paid.

Thanks for the tip about Claimyr! I'll definitely keep that in mind if I run into issues down the road. From what everyone's saying, I should probably just wait a couple more days before worrying. Patience isn't my strongest virtue though lol.

Just checking back - did your payment arrive yet? If it's been more than 3 business days, you might want to verify that your banking information is correct in your ESD account.

Yes!! It finally showed up this morning. Took exactly 2 business days after the "paid" status appeared. Thanks everyone for calming my anxiety! Now I can finally pay my electric bill.
