ESD weekly claim stuck on 'processing-ivr' status for days - normal or problem?
I filed my weekly claim through the phone system (IVR) on Sunday like I always do, but it's Wednesday now and my claim still shows 'processing-ivr' on eServices. Usually by Tuesday morning it shows as 'paid' and the money hits my account by Wednesday afternoon. Is this normal or should I be concerned? Has anyone else experienced longer processing times recently? I really need this payment to cover rent due on the 1st and I'm getting nervous. Does 'processing-ivr' mean there's a problem with my claim?

•Thanks for responding! There wasn't a holiday this week though, so I'm still worried. Do you remember if you had to do anything to get yours processed?

This happened to me about a month ago. It got stuck in 'processing-ivr' for almost a week. Turns out there was a job search verification issue that wasn't clearly shown on my account. I'd recommend calling ESD directly to check if there's an issue they need to resolve. Sometimes their system flags claims randomly for additional verification even if you've been filing correctly for months.

•Oh no, that's what I was afraid of! I've been doing my 3 job search activities every week, but maybe they're questioning something. Did they tell you what the specific issue was with yours?

•They said one of my job contacts didn't have complete information. I had listed 'spoke to hiring manager' but didn't include their name. Seemed like a small thing but it triggered a review. I'd definitely call to check before it sits too long.

OMG the EXACT same thing is happening to me right now!!!! Been stuck since Monday and I'm freaking out. I HAVE to pay my car insurance by Friday or they'll cancel it. This system is so broken!!!!

•Have either of you tried reaching out to ESD directly? Sometimes these processing delays happen when they're updating their system, but it's always worth checking if there's an issue with your specific claim.

I've been dealing with unemployment for 3 years now (on and off) and I've noticed a pattern - processing-ivr typically means your claim was received through the phone system and is in the normal processing queue. However, if it stays in that status for more than 3 business days, it usually indicates one of these issues: 1. Random quarterly review (happens to everyone periodically) 2. Job search verification request 3. Earnings verification if you reported any income 4. Technical glitch in their system The problem is you won't know which one until you speak with an agent. Unfortunately, as you probably know, getting through to ESD by phone is incredibly difficult.

•Thanks for the detailed explanation! I did report some earnings from a part-time gig last week, but I've done that before without delays. Do you know if there's any way to see if they need additional information from me without calling?

•Unfortunately, ESD's online system isn't great at showing why claims are delayed. Sometimes a letter will appear in your online correspondence a few days later, but by then you could have already missed a payment. Your best bet is to actually speak with someone.

I know this is frustrating! When I had the same issue last month, I spent TWO ENTIRE DAYS trying to call ESD. Either busy signals or being disconnected after waiting for an hour. Finally I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an actual ESD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent told me my claim was flagged for 'earnings verification' because I had reported some gig work. Once I talked to them, they cleared it right away and I got paid the next day.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'm going to try calling one more time tomorrow morning, but if I can't get through I might try that service. Did they explain why the system doesn't show these issues clearly on the website?

•The agent I spoke with said their online system isn't connected in real-time to their review system, so issues don't always show up. She actually recommended calling anytime a claim stays in processing for more than 3 days because it usually means there's something that needs clearing up.

Don't panic yet! The ESD system sometimes slows down processing times when they're doing back-end updates or when they have higher claim volumes. I've had claims stay in 'processing-ivr' for up to 5 business days before suddenly switching to 'paid' without any action on my part. That said, I'd recommend checking your Notices/Letters section in eServices to see if they've sent you any requests for information that you might have missed. If there's nothing there and you hit day 5 with no movement, then it's definitely time to call.

•I checked my Notices section and there's nothing new there. Tomorrow will be day 4, so I'll try calling if it doesn't change by then. I appreciate the advice!

Just want to update everyone - my claim that was stuck in 'processing-ivr' finally moved to 'paid' this morning. It took 6 days total. I never got through to ESD on the phone, but it resolved itself. So sometimes it really is just a delay in their system without any actual issues. Hope this helps calm some nerves!

•That's good to know, thanks for sharing! Mine just switched to 'paid' this morning too! Relief! Seems like they're just taking longer than usual this week for some reason.
