Weekly claim showing 'processing-IVR' status - will late filing delay ESD payment?

I'm freaking out a bit because I filed my weekly claim at 4:30pm yesterday instead of my usual morning time. I've been claiming for a few months and always file early Sunday morning, but this weekend was crazy busy with my kid's soccer tournament. When I checked my eServices account today, it still shows 'processing-IVR' status, which I've never seen before. Normally by now it would say 'paid' and the money hits my account on Tuesday. Will filing later in the day push my payment to Wednesday instead? I've got rent due and really need that payment on time. Has anyone filed later in the day and still gotten paid on schedule?

Thanks for the quick response! I hope you're right. I've just never seen this 'processing-IVR' thing before and got nervous. Will update tomorrow if it changes.

The processing-IVR status is normal when you file by phone or later in the day. The system typically updates overnight between 12am-6am. As long as you filed before midnight on the last day to file (usually Monday for most claims), your payment timing shouldn't be affected. The payment processing schedule is based on when the claim is approved, not the exact hour you submitted it. I've worked with hundreds of claimants and time of day rarely impacts payment dates.

Oh thank goodness! That's a huge relief. Do you know if the system will update to 'paid' status by tomorrow morning then? Just trying to plan my week.

Yes, it should update to 'paid' status by tomorrow morning. The system generally processes overnight, so check first thing in the morning. Your direct deposit should still follow the same timeline as usual - if you normally get it on Tuesday, you should still receive it Tuesday.

I filed mine at 10pm once and freaked out too! It still paid on time. ESD doesn't care what time of day you file as long as it's before the deadline.

I HATE the ESD system and how it makes everyone panic!!! I filed late one Sunday (like 11pm) and my husband filed early (8am) and guess what - BOTH our claims were stuck on "processing" for TWO EXTRA DAYS and payments were delayed!!! The system is completely RANDOM and they LIE about when payments go out!!! You might get it on time or you might not - prepare for the worst!

That's not really helpful. One bad experience doesn't mean the system is broken for everyone. Most payments follow a consistent schedule.

It wasn't "one bad experience" - it's happened THREE TIMES to us in the past few months! The system IS broken and nobody at ESD will admit it!

The processing-IVR status is just indicating you filed through the interactive voice response system or that your claim is still in the initial processing queue. This is completely normal, especially for claims filed in the afternoon or evening. The ESD system runs major batch processes overnight, usually between 2-4AM. If you filed before the Monday deadline (which you did), your payment should process on the normal schedule. Direct deposits typically hit accounts on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, depending on your bank's processing time. If you're worried about your claim status and can't get through to an ESD agent (their phone lines are notoriously busy), you might want to try Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in the same situation a few weeks ago and used their service to get through to an ESD representative within 30 minutes instead of spending days trying to call. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent confirmed my payment was processing normally despite the status not updating yet.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! That makes sense - I guess I've just never noticed the 'processing-IVR' status before since I always file early. I'll check it tomorrow morning to see if it updates. And if I have troubles, I'll check out that Claimyr service, though hopefully won't need it!

So did your payment come through on time? I'm having a similar issue and wondering what happened with yours.

Yes! Everything worked out fine. The status changed to 'paid' early Tuesday morning and the money was in my account by noon. Filing later in the day didn't affect anything after all. Hope yours goes through smoothly too!

This reminds me of when I first started on unemployment back in January... I was so paranoid about every little status change! I once stayed up until midnight to file because I thought it would process faster lol. Now I just file whenever I have time on Sunday and the money always shows up on Wednesday for me. The whole system is confusing at first but you get used to it.
