ESD weekly claim submitted late yesterday - still processing after 24 hours
I totally messed up and forgot to file my weekly claim on Sunday like I usually do. I finally remembered yesterday but couldn't get to it until around 9 PM. It's showing as 'processing' in my eServices account for over 24 hours now. Is this normal when you submit late? My previous claims were always processed by the next morning. Now I'm worried I'll miss this week's payment since I was late. Anyone else experience delayed processing when submitting a claim late? Will they still backdate it to the claim week?

Don't panic! This is actually pretty normal. When you submit your weekly claim outside the "preferred" timeframe (Sunday-Tuesday), it often takes ESD an extra 1-2 business days to process it. The system prioritizes claims filed during the regular window first. As long as you filed within the same week, you should still get paid, just a bit later than usual. Check again tomorrow morning - it should change from "processing" to "paid" status.

•Thank you so much! That's a relief to hear. I've been really consistent with my claims until this week - totally slipped my mind with everything else going on. I'll check again tomorrow morning and hope it goes through.

•That's good to know! Did you get paid on the usual day or was it delayed by those 3 days?

I HATE how ESD's system is so unpredictable!!! One time I filed a day late and got paid normally, another time it took FOUR DAYS to process and my payment was LATE causing me to get hit with LATE FEES on my rent!!! Their system is deliberately designed to punish people who don't follow their arbitrary rules perfectly. And good luck trying to talk to anyone there to explain your situation - impossible to get through!!!

•I've had similar frustrating experiences! When I needed to actually talk to someone at ESD about my delayed claim, I ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me through to an actual human being within about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Way better than spending all day getting hung up on over and over. At least I could explain my situation to a real person.

Just to clarify a couple things about ESD's weekly claim processing: 1. You can actually file your weekly claim anytime from Sunday to Saturday of the week AFTER your claim week ends. So filing on a Monday or Tuesday isn't technically "late" - it's still within the allowable window. 2. Claims filed later in the week do often take longer to process because ESD's system prioritizes the Sunday/Monday submissions. 3. If your claim stays in "processing" status for more than 3 business days, that may indicate there's an adjudication issue or additional verification needed. 4. When your claim is approved, the payment will be for the week you claimed, regardless of when during the following week you submitted the claim. The system doesn't "penalize" you for filing on different days within the allowable window. Hope this helps clarify things! In your case, I'd expect it to switch from processing to paid within 72 hours total.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I feel much better knowing that I'm still within the proper filing window. I'll give it the full 72 hours before I start to worry. Appreciate everyone's help!

Wait i'm confused...I thought you HAD to file on Sunday? That's what the ESD website told me when I first signed up. Are you saying we actually have all week to do it? This changes everything for me lol. I've been stressing about Sunday filing for months!

•You *can* file anytime Sunday through Saturday of the week following your claim week, but ESD does recommend filing early in the week (Sunday-Tuesday) for faster processing. Filing later in the week (Wed-Sat) usually means your payment will be delayed compared to the normal schedule. So they prefer Sunday filing for efficiency, but it's not required - just optimal for getting paid quickly and consistently.

UPDATE: My claim just changed from "processing" to "paid" this morning! So it took about 36 hours total. Thanks everyone for the reassurance. I'll definitely try to stick to Sunday filing from now on to avoid the stress, but good to know that filing later in the week still works.

•Great news! Glad it worked out. It's always good practice to file as early as possible, but nice to know there's some flexibility built into the system.
