Filed weekly claim at midnight via phone - when will payment arrive?

I'm in a really tight spot financially right now and submitted my weekly claim through the phone system exactly at midnight last night when the system opened up. Has anyone else done this before? I'm wondering how quickly the payment will hit my account when filing this early. My regular processing time has been 2-3 days but I'm hoping maybe it processes faster if you're one of the first claims submitted for the week? Anyone have experience with this? This is my 4th week claiming and I REALLY need this payment ASAP for rent. Thanks for any info!

I file by phone every week around 12:15am and it doesn't seem to make any difference in when the $$ hits my account tbh. Still takes 48hrs most times. The system just processes all the claims in batches anyway, not in the order received.

Ugh, that's disappointing to hear. I was hoping being first in line would help somehow. Do you get your payments on the same day each week?

Filing time doesn't affect processing speed - ESD processes claims in batches, not individually. The payment timeframe is typically 48-72 hours after filing regardless of when you file during the week. If your claim doesn't require additional review (adjudication), you should receive payment on the same schedule as your previous weeks. If you've been receiving payments via direct deposit, that will continue. If you're using the ESD debit card, remember there can sometimes be a processing delay with the bank that issues the card.

THIS!!!! the system doesn't work like a line at the grocery store lol. They take all Sunday claims and process them together, then Monday claims, etc. I used to think the same thing but even if you file at 11:59pm Sunday its the same as filing at 12:01am Sunday

I've been on unemployment for 6 months now and I've tried filing at different times to see if it made any difference. I've done the midnight filing, middle of the day, and even waited until Saturday (the last day). There's absolutely NO difference in when the payment arrives. For me it's always 2 business days after filing regardless of when I file. If you need to talk to ESD about speeding things up, good luck getting through. I've had better luck using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual human at ESD. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. It helped me when I had an adjudication issue that was holding up payment for weeks.

does claimyr actually work? seems sketchy to me but ive been trying to reach esd for 2 weeks with no luck

It worked for me twice now. They just connect you to ESD - you still talk directly with the ESD agents yourself. Worth it when you're desperate to get through.

Wednesday morning would be perfect! I'm also on direct deposit. I filed super early hoping that maybe I'd get lucky and it would process Tuesday instead of Wednesday or Thursday.

The time you file doesn't impact when you get paid, but there are a few things that might help you plan better: 1. ESD typically processes claims in 48-72 business hours after filing 2. Direct deposit is faster than the ESD debit card 3. File consistently on the same day each week to establish a predictable payment pattern 4. Banking holidays can delay payments by a day 5. If you have any pending issues or adjudication, payments will be held until resolved If you're in a desperate situation, you might want to contact WorkSource for emergency assistance resources while waiting for your UI payment. They can sometimes connect you with rent assistance programs.

Thank you for the detailed info. I don't have any pending issues showing on my account, so hopefully it will process normally. I didn't think about the WorkSource connection - I'll look into that today. Really appreciate it.

My roomate files at midnite every week and shes always like "gotta be first in line!!" but i file sunday afternoon and we ALWAYS get paid the same day lol. I think its just a superstition thing at this point for her.

THEY DONT TELL YOU THIS but if your claim has been in adjudication before or if you have EVER had an issue, your claim gets flagged for manual review EVERY TIME and that adds like 1-2 extra days even if everything is fine now. Ask me how I know... 5 months on UI and still getting "random" reviews that slow down payment.

Omg is that true?? I had an adjudication issue back in January and my payments have been slower ever since. I thought I was just being paranoid!

This isn't entirely accurate. While previous issues might trigger occasional reviews, ESD doesn't automatically flag every single claim from someone with a past adjudication. The system is designed to randomly select a percentage of claims for verification purposes. If you're experiencing consistent delays, it's worth contacting ESD to ensure there isn't an underlying issue with your claim.

Wait are you guys all able to file at midnight on Sunday morning?? The phone system always tells me that I can't file until after Sunday at 12:01am (so basically Monday morning). Am I missing something???

The weekly claim week starts at 12:01am on Sunday and ends Saturday at 11:59pm. So you can file for the previous week starting at 12:01am Sunday. Sounds like you might be trying to file at 12:01am Saturday for the week that isn't completed yet?

OMG I'VE BEEN DOING THIS WRONG. I thought midnight sunday meant saturday night going into sunday. So I should be calling sunday night going into monday at 12:01am?? I feel so stupid right now 😫

You can file anytime starting 12:01am Sunday through 11:59pm Saturday for the previous week. Many people file Sunday morning, but you can actually file any day during that filing week. There's no advantage to filing right at 12:01am versus later on Sunday or even Monday.

What payment method did you select? Direct deposit is always faster then the debit card in my experience. Card takes an extra day minimum.

I'm using direct deposit to my credit union. Based on everyone's comments, it sounds like I should expect it Wednesday most likely, regardless of filing at midnight.

Hey Zainab, I totally get the stress about needing that payment ASAP for rent - been there myself! Unfortunately, everyone's right that filing at midnight doesn't speed things up. I've been on UI for about 8 months now and have tried every possible filing time thinking it would help. ESD processes claims in batches regardless of submission order. That said, if you're using direct deposit and don't have any flags on your account, Wednesday is very likely based on what others are saying. I'd also echo the suggestion about contacting WorkSource for emergency rental assistance while you wait - many counties have programs specifically for people waiting on UI payments. Hang in there!

Thanks Lucas, that really helps ease my anxiety a bit! I was really hoping the midnight thing would work but sounds like it's just wishful thinking on my part. I'm definitely going to look into the WorkSource rental assistance - I had no idea that was even an option. Do you happen to know if there's a specific program name I should ask for when I call them?
