Will my ny unemployment payment be delayed if I certified late Sunday night?

So I certified my weekly unemployment claim on Sunday around 11:30 PM right before the deadline. I usually do it in the morning but I completely forgot until last minute. Normally my payment shows up Tuesday morning in my bank account. Does anyone know if claiming late on Sunday will push my payment to Wednesday instead? Really need the money for rent due this week.

You should be fine. As long as you certified before midnight on Sunday, your payment should still show up on Tuesday as usual. The system processes all Sunday certifications overnight, doesn't matter if you did it at 8am or 11:59pm.

Thank you! That's a relief. I was stressing about it all night.

sometimes the system gets backed up tho, so it MIGHT be delayed, but probably not ur fault if it is

This is true for direct deposit. If you're using the debit card it sometimes takes an extra day no matter when you certify.

After months of not being able to reach anyone at NY unemployment, I found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual human being within an hour! Talking to an agent got my payment issues sorted out in minutes - it was the only way I could talk to a live agent after weeks of trying. They have this cool system that waits on hold for you then calls you when an agent picks up. Check out this video too: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄

No catch, it just works. They literally just call and wait on hold for you. When an agent answers, they connect you. Saved me days of frustration.

wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS?

It worked for me! I was skeptical too but I was desperate after trying to get through for 3 weeks. Got a callback with a real agent in 45 mins.

I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different?

They don't need any personal info except your phone number to call you back. It's just a calling service that sits on hold so you don't have to. Got my issue fixed in one call!

I certify every week at like 9pm Sunday and my deposit hits Tuesday around 10am. You should be good. The cutoff is midnight.

Generally, as long as you certify before midnight Sunday, you'll get paid on your normal schedule. BUT I have noticed that when the system is super busy (like at the end of a quarter or during holidays), sometimes even on-time certifications can be delayed by a day. Cross your fingers but don't panic if it's a little later than usual.

Fingers definitely crossed. I've got rent due this week and I'm cutting it close 😬

From my experience with ny unemployment, anything certified on Sunday (regardless of time) gets processed in the same batch. I've certified as late as 11:57pm and still got paid Tuesday. The website gets slow af close to midnight tho so dont cut it THAT close lol

Facts. Last month I tried at 11:58 and the site crashed on me. Had to wait till Monday morning and got paid Wednesday instead.

This is why I always certify first thing Sunday morning! Not worth the stress 🤣

Here's the FULL breakdown on payment timing with NY unemployment based on certification time: Certify Sunday (ANY time before midnight) = Tuesday deposit Certify Monday = Wednesday deposit Certify Tuesday = Thursday deposit Certify Wednesday = Friday deposit Certify Thursday/Friday/Saturday = Following Tuesday deposit BUT... if there's a holiday or technical issues, add 1-2 days. Also, the first 2-3 weeks of a new claim can be irregular timing while they verify everything. Hope this helps! If you need to talk to someone about a payment issue, you can try calling nonstop, OR use claimyr.com which has been a lifesaver for many people here. They wait on hold and connect you with an agent when one is available.

I've printed this out and put it on my fridge lmao

This should be pinned at the top of this subreddit tbh

The system also slows down at the end/beginning of each quarter when they're processing a lot of new claims and quarterly reports.

Time doesn't matter as long as it's before midnight, but if the website was glitchy when you submitted (which happens ALL THE TIME late Sunday night when everyone's rushing to certify), there could be a delay. Did you get a confirmation number after submitting?

Yeah I got the confirmation screen and wrote down the number. Should be good then I hope!

The NYSDOL website is such garbage. I certified on time last week and my payment was still delayed by 2 days for no reason. Their system is held together with duct tape and prayers 🤮

Literally the most outdated government system. My friend works in IT and says their backend is from like 1998 😂

you think NY is bad? Try Florida's unemployment system... it was DESIGNED to fail

Duct tape and prayers 💀💀💀 accurate af tho

I've been on UI for 3 months now and the payment has hit my account every Tuesday between 9-11am, even when I certified at 11:45pm Sunday. One time it came Wednesday but that was because of Memorial Day.

You'll be fine! But for future reference, you can actually certify anytime during the week for the previous week. You don't HAVE to do it Sunday. I usually do mine on Monday morning and get paid Wednesday.

Wait really? I thought it HAD to be Sunday or you'd miss that week's payment?

0 coins

NeonNova

•

Nope! You can certify for the previous week anytime during the current week. It just delays payment by a day for each day after Sunday that you wait.

It depends on your bank too! Some banks process ACH transfers faster than others. I'm with a credit union and sometimes get my deposit Monday night, while my roommate with Bank of America always gets it Tuesday morning.

When I was on unemployment last year I used to certify Sunday night all the time. Payment always hit Tuesday by noon like clockwork. The system doesn't care what time on Sunday you do it.

Sometimes the site is just slow AF on Sunday nights and doesnt actually submit your certification even tho it looks like it did. Did you save your confirmation number? If not, you might wanna log in today to double check it went through

Amina Toure

•

Yeah I saved it! Got the confirmation page and everything, so I think I'm good

Lol they make it seem like Sunday is the only day to certify but you can actually do it any day of the week - just pushes your payment date back by a day each day you wait after Sunday.

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I actually prefer certifying Sunday night cuz the website is way less glitchy than Sunday morning when EVERYONE is trying to log in at once. Never had an issue with payment timing.

Smart. I'm gonna try this next week
