NY unemployment payment delay when claiming late night - Tuesday or Wednesday deposit?
Quick question about NY unemployment payment timing. I claimed my weekly benefits yesterday at 10:45 PM (way later than usual). Normally my payment shows up on Tuesday morning, but since I claimed so late at night, will my payment be delayed until Wednesday? Has anyone had experience with claiming late at night and how it affects the deposit timing? Just trying to plan my budget for the week.

•Ugh that's what I was worried about. Thanks for the info. Guess I should've claimed earlier!

The NY DOL processes claims in batches. If you certified after the cutoff time (which is usually around 7pm), your claim will likely be processed in the next day's batch. So yes, claiming at 10:45pm will probably push your payment to Wednesday instead of Tuesday. In my experience, the timing works like this: - Claim Sunday (before 7pm): Payment Tuesday - Claim Sunday (after 7pm) or Monday: Payment Wednesday - Claim Tuesday: Payment Thursday And so on. Hope this helps!

•Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! That makes perfect sense. I'll remember the 7pm cutoff time for future weeks.

THIS SYSTEM IS SO FRUSTRATING!!! why can't they just process everything right away?? why do we have to wait for these stupid "batches"??? i've been waiting 4 days for my payment and still nothing!!

•The batch processing system actually helps them process millions of claims more efficiently. It's not perfect, but without it, the delays would likely be worse. If you're waiting 4+ days, that's not normal and might indicate a different issue with your claim. Have you checked your payment history page for any messages?

When I had problems with my payments being delayed I couldn't get through to anyone at unemployment for like a week. My cousin told me about Claimyr.com and it actually worked to get me connected to a rep in about 20 minutes instead of calling for days. They have a video about how it works at https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE. Got my payment timing straightened out right away after talking to someone.

•Yeah it's legit. I was skeptical too but it actually worked for me when I couldn't get through any other way. Just helped me skip the phone queue basically.

i heard they're having system issues this week too because of some update they're doing? maybe that's why payments are weird? my friend said her payment is late too and she always claims sunday morning

•I haven't seen any official announcements about system updates this week, but it's always possible. The DOL doesn't always communicate these things well. If there are widespread delays, they usually post something on their Twitter account eventually.

my mom works at a bank and she says ACH transfers (which is what unemployment uses) always have a 24-48 hour processing time no matter what, so claiming at night vs morning wouldnt matter that much. but the unemployment office might have their own internal cutoff times that affect when they start the transfer. either way nothing we can do but wait!

•That's interesting about the ACH transfers! I guess it's a combination of when DOL processes the claim AND how long the bank takes to process it. Thanks for that insight.

To add some clarification: The NYSDOL payment system has specific processing windows. Claims are batched and sent to the payment processor, which then initiates the bank transfer. For most banks, if the DOL processes your claim in Tuesday's batch, it won't appear in your account until Wednesday. If you need to track exactly when your payment was processed, log into your account and check the "Payment History" section. There you'll see the exact date the payment was released, which helps predict when it will hit your bank.

•Just checked my payment history and it shows "payment released" for today (Tuesday), so sounds like I'll probably see it tomorrow. Mystery solved! Thanks everyone for your help!
