What time does NYS Department of Labor deposit unemployment money on debit card?
I'm trying to figure out the exact timing for when my unemployment benefits get deposited to my KeyBank debit card. My claim shows as paid on Tuesday but I still don't see the money available yet. Does anyone know what time of day NYS Department of Labor actually processes the deposits? I need to pay rent tomorrow and want to know if I should expect it tonight or early morning.

From my experience, NYS Department of Labor processes deposits overnight on Tuesday/Wednesday. If your claim shows paid on Tuesday, you should see the money available by Wednesday morning around 6-7 AM. The KeyBank debit card usually updates pretty quickly once the deposit hits.

•That's really helpful! I was worried something was wrong since it's been showing paid since yesterday afternoon.

•Same here! The money is usually there before I wake up Wednesday but the alert comes hours later.

The deposit timing can vary slightly depending on your bank. NYS Department of Labor typically sends the ACH transfer Tuesday evening after your weekly claim is processed and approved. Most people see it available Wednesday morning between 3-6 AM. If you're not seeing it by Thursday morning, then you should contact them.

•Good to know about the Thursday deadline. I'll wait until then before panicking.

If you're having trouble getting through to NYS Department of Labor about deposit issues, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me reach an actual agent. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Really saved me time when my deposits were delayed for a week.

•Thanks for the suggestion! Hopefully I won't need it but good to know there's an option if calling doesn't work.

•Never heard of that before but anything that helps get through to an actual person sounds useful

The whole system is so frustrating! Why can't they just deposit it the same day they mark it as paid? Other states do it faster than NYS Department of Labor.

•I agree it's annoying but at least it's pretty consistent once you know the timing. Tuesday paid = Wednesday money.

Just wanted to add that if you have the KeyBank mobile app, you can check your balance there even before you get the text notification. I've noticed the money usually shows up in the app around 4-5 AM on Wednesday, but the SMS alert doesn't come until later in the morning. This way you can check early if you need to know for sure before making any payments.

•That's a great tip about checking the app early! I didn't know it would show up before the text alert. I'll definitely download the KeyBank app tonight so I can check first thing in the morning instead of waiting around for the notification.

I've been getting my NYS unemployment deposits for about 6 months now and can confirm what others are saying - it's pretty reliable timing. My deposits always hit the KeyBank card between 3-6 AM on Wednesday morning. The key thing is making sure your weekly certification is completed by Monday night, then it processes Tuesday and you'll have the money Wednesday morning. If you're cutting it close for rent, I'd say you can safely count on having access to the funds by 7 AM Wednesday at the latest.

•This is super reassuring! I've been stressing about the timing since I'm new to this whole process. Knowing that 6 months of experience shows it's reliable at 3-6 AM Wednesday gives me confidence I'll have the money for rent tomorrow morning. Thanks for sharing your experience - it really helps to hear from someone who's been through this consistently.
