What time does NYS Department of Labor deposit unemployment money into bank accounts?
I'm expecting my weekly unemployment payment from NYS Department of Labor today but it's already 2pm and nothing's shown up in my checking account yet. Does anyone know what time they usually deposit the money? My bank says they don't hold deposits so it should show up as soon as they send it. Getting worried something went wrong with my claim.

NYS Department of Labor typically processes payments early morning around 3-4 AM on Tuesday if you certified on Monday. But it depends on your bank too - some banks don't show the deposit until later in the day even though the money is there. What day did you file your weekly claim?

•I certified Sunday night like I always do. Usually see it by noon on Tuesday but nothing yet today.

•Same here! Always Tuesday morning super early. If you're not seeing it by now something might be wrong with your claim status.

Check your payment history on the NYS Department of Labor website first. Log into your account and see if the payment shows as 'released' or if there's any hold on it. Sometimes they put payments on hold for verification and don't always notify you right away.

•Good idea, let me check that now. The website is so slow though, takes forever to load.

I had this happen last month and it turned out my claim was under review for some job search requirement issue. Took me 3 weeks to get through to someone at NYS Department of Labor to fix it. The phone system is absolutely horrible - kept getting disconnected after waiting on hold for hours.

•If you're having trouble getting through to NYS Department of Labor by phone, I used this service called Claimyr that helped me reach an agent quickly. They have a website at claimyr.com and there's a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Worth checking out if you need to talk to someone urgently about your payment issue.

Usually Tuesday mornings but I've had it show up as late as Wednesday before when there were system issues. Don't panic yet!

I've been on unemployment for about 6 months now and I've noticed the timing can vary a bit. Most weeks it hits my account between 6-8 AM on Tuesday, but I've had it come as late as 10 AM sometimes. Since you certified Sunday night, I'd give it until end of business today before worrying. Also double-check that your direct deposit info hasn't changed in your account - sometimes bank mergers or account updates can cause delays even if you didn't change anything on your end.

•Thanks for the reassurance! I'll wait until end of day. I did check my direct deposit info and it looks correct - same account I've been using for months. Really hoping it's just a system delay and not something wrong with my claim. The stress of waiting for these payments is almost as bad as being unemployed in the first place!

I'm also waiting for my payment today and getting anxious! Usually hits my Chase account around 7 AM on Tuesdays but nothing yet. I certified Sunday evening too. One thing I learned from experience - if it doesn't show up by 3 PM, definitely check your payment history online. Last time this happened to me, there was a "pending issue" flag that I didn't know about. Had to call and wait 2 hours on hold but they cleared it up. Fingers crossed both our payments just got delayed in processing!

•Same boat here! I'm with Wells Fargo and usually see it by 6 AM on Tuesdays but still nothing as of 3:30 PM. Just checked my payment history online and it shows "Payment Released" for today's date, so hopefully it's just a banking delay on their end. Maybe try calling your bank to see if there are any processing delays? Sometimes they have system maintenance that can hold up ACH deposits even when NYS DOL sends them on time.

I've been dealing with NYS DOL payments for about 8 months now and here's what I've learned about timing: They usually batch process payments between 2-4 AM on Tuesdays, but your bank's processing time can add several hours. If you certified Sunday night, the payment should definitely be there by now unless there's an issue. I'd recommend logging into your NYS DOL account immediately and checking three things: 1) Payment history to see if it shows "released" or "pending", 2) Any messages or alerts about your claim, and 3) Your direct deposit information. If everything looks normal there but still no payment, call your bank first to rule out any delays on their end before spending hours on hold with DOL. Hope it shows up soon!

•This is really helpful advice! I just logged into my NYS DOL account and checked - it shows "Payment Released" for today so that's a relief. Must be a banking delay then. I'll call my bank to see if they're having any ACH processing issues today. It's crazy how stressful these payment delays can be when you're depending on this money. Thanks for the detailed breakdown of what to check - definitely saving this for future reference!

I work at a credit union and can shed some light on this from the banking side. NYS DOL typically sends ACH deposits in the early morning hours (usually between 2-5 AM), but different banks process these at different times throughout the day. Some banks post ACH credits immediately when received, others batch process them at specific times like 9 AM, noon, or 3 PM. Since multiple people here are reporting delays today, it could be a system issue on either NYS DOL's end or with the ACH network itself. I'd suggest checking your payment status on the NYS DOL website first - if it shows "released" then the delay is likely on your bank's side. If you don't see it by tomorrow morning, that's when I'd start making calls.

•This is really insightful - thank you for the banking perspective! I never knew that different banks process ACH deposits at different scheduled times throughout the day. That explains why some people get their payments at 6 AM while others don't see them until afternoon. It's reassuring to know that delays don't always mean there's a problem with your claim. I'll definitely check the NYS DOL website first next time before panicking. Do you know if there's a way to find out what time your specific bank typically processes ACH deposits, or is that something you have to call and ask about?

I'm a newcomer here but dealing with the same anxiety about payment timing! Just wanted to add that I've found it helpful to screenshot my "Payment Released" status from the NYS DOL website when I check it - gives me peace of mind and also serves as documentation if I ever need to contact my bank or DOL about a missing payment. Also, for anyone using mobile banking apps, sometimes the payment shows up there before it appears in online banking or ATMs. The whole system seems unnecessarily stressful when you're already dealing with unemployment, but this community has been really helpful for understanding what's normal vs. when to actually worry!

•Welcome to the community! That's a really smart tip about screenshotting the "Payment Released" status - I wish I had thought of that earlier when I was panicking about my payment. You're absolutely right that the mobile app sometimes shows deposits before other platforms do. I just checked mine and there it was! Must have just posted in the last hour. It's such a relief when it finally shows up. Thanks for sharing that advice about documentation too - definitely going to start doing that for my own peace of mind. Hope everyone else's payments come through soon!

As someone who's been navigating unemployment payments for several months now, I completely understand the anxiety when your payment doesn't arrive at the usual time! From my experience, NYS DOL typically releases payments early Tuesday morning (around 3-5 AM), but the actual deposit time depends heavily on your bank's processing schedule. I've noticed that major banks like Chase and Bank of America tend to post ACH deposits faster than smaller regional banks. If you certified Sunday night and it's now Tuesday afternoon with no payment, I'd recommend: 1) Check your NYS DOL account payment history - if it shows "Payment Released" you're good, just waiting on your bank, 2) Try your mobile banking app as it sometimes updates faster than online banking, and 3) Call your bank to ask about any ACH processing delays today. I've learned not to panic until Wednesday morning if the DOL website shows the payment was released. The waiting game is definitely one of the most stressful parts of being on unemployment - hang in there!

•This is such comprehensive advice, thank you! I'm new to receiving unemployment benefits and had no idea there were so many variables that could affect when payments show up. Your step-by-step approach is really helpful - I was about to start panicking but now I know exactly what to check first. It's comforting to know that waiting until Wednesday morning before really worrying is normal. The whole unemployment process feels overwhelming when you're new to it, but this community has been amazing for learning what to expect. I'm definitely saving your comment for future reference!

I've been on unemployment for about 3 months now and I've noticed that payment timing can be pretty unpredictable sometimes. Most weeks my payment hits my Bank of America account around 6 AM on Tuesday, but I've had it come as late as Thursday when there were system issues or holidays. Since you certified Sunday night, I'd definitely check your payment history on the NYS DOL website first - if it shows "Payment Released" then it's just a matter of waiting for your bank to process it. I've also found that contacting your bank can sometimes speed things up if they're having processing delays. Don't stress too much yet - delays happen more often than you'd think, especially if there's any kind of system maintenance going on. Keeping my fingers crossed your payment shows up soon!

•Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to hear that delays are more common than I thought. I'm still pretty new to all this and every little hiccup makes me worry something's gone wrong with my claim. I just checked the NYS DOL website and it does show "Payment Released" for today, so I'm feeling much better now. I think I was just panicking because it's usually so consistent. Really appreciate everyone in this community sharing their experiences - it makes navigating this whole process so much less stressful when you know what's normal!

Just wanted to share my experience as someone who's been dealing with NYS DOL payments for about a year now. I've noticed that Tuesday deposit times can vary significantly - sometimes I get mine at 5 AM, other times not until late afternoon or even Wednesday morning. What really helped reduce my anxiety was setting up text alerts with my bank for any incoming deposits, so I don't have to keep obsessively checking my account balance. Also, I learned that federal holidays (even ones that don't affect state offices) can sometimes cause ACH processing delays that push payments back a day or two. If you're still waiting and the DOL website shows "Payment Released," try not to stress too much - in my experience, it always shows up eventually, just not always when we expect it to!

•That's such a great tip about setting up text alerts with your bank! I never thought of doing that but it would definitely save me from constantly checking my account and stressing out. I'm still relatively new to receiving unemployment benefits and learning all these little tricks from experienced folks like you is incredibly helpful. The point about federal holidays affecting ACH processing even when state offices are open is something I wouldn't have known either. It's amazing how many moving parts there are to something that seems like it should be straightforward. Thanks for sharing your experience - I'm definitely going to set up those text alerts with my bank today!
