How long does it take for NYS Department of Labor unemployment payment to deposit in bank account?
Just had my weekly claim processed and approved yesterday but still don't see the money in my checking account. This is my second week claiming and I'm getting nervous about when the deposit will actually show up. My rent is due Friday and I really need to know if I should expect it today or if it takes longer. Does anyone know the typical timeframe for NYS Department of Labor payments to hit your bank account after they approve your weekly claim?

Usually takes 1-2 business days after your claim shows as processed on the NYS Department of Labor website. If you certified on Sunday or Monday, you should see it by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Check your payment history on my.ny.gov to see if it shows as 'released' - that means it's on the way to your bank.

•Thanks! Just checked and it does say 'released' as of yesterday afternoon. Hopefully it hits tomorrow then.

The NYS Department of Labor typically processes payments within 2-3 business days of claim certification. However, your bank may add an additional day for processing. Direct deposit is faster than the debit card option. If you're not seeing deposits within 3-4 business days, there might be an issue with your banking information or your claim may need additional review.

•I did set up direct deposit when I first filed. Should I be worried if it doesn't come by Thursday?

•If it doesn't arrive by Thursday and your claim shows as released, I'd call your bank first to make sure there are no holds. Sometimes banks flag government deposits as suspicious if it's your first unemployment payment.

I've been dealing with delayed payments for weeks! My claims get approved but then the money just sits there. I've tried calling the NYS Department of Labor but can never get through to an actual person. This is so frustrating when you're depending on these payments to survive.

•I had the same problem with getting through to NYS Department of Labor on the phone. I actually found this service called Claimyr at claimyr.com that helps you reach unemployment agents by phone. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Might be worth checking out if you keep having payment issues that need agent help.

Wednesday mornings for me, like clockwork. Been on unemployment for 3 months now and it's always Wednesday around 6am if I file Sunday night. Your bank might be different though.

I'm new to the unemployment system and just filed my first claim last week. Reading through these responses is really helpful! One thing I'm wondering - do you get any kind of notification when the payment is actually sent, or do you just have to keep checking your bank account? Also, is there a specific time of day when NYS Department of Labor usually releases payments, or does it vary? Thanks for sharing your experiences everyone!
