Will I get my unemployment today - NYS Department of Labor payment timing question
I certified for my weekly claim yesterday evening and I'm wondering if anyone knows when the payment usually hits? This is my third week claiming and the first two times it took different amounts of time. I really need to know if I'll get my unemployment today because I have rent due tomorrow and I'm cutting it super close. My claim status still shows 'payment processing' on the my.ny.gov site. Does anyone know the typical timeline for NYS Department of Labor payments?

Payment timing depends on when you certified and your bank. If you certified before 7:30 PM on Sunday, you should see the deposit by Wednesday morning at the latest. Most people get it Tuesday if they have direct deposit set up. Check your payment history on the NYS Department of Labor site to see the exact release date.

•I certified around 6 PM yesterday so hopefully that means I'll see it today! Thanks for the info about the 7:30 PM cutoff.

The NYS Department of Labor processes payments in batches. If your claim shows 'payment processing' that means it's been approved and should hit your account within 1-2 business days. Tuesday is the most common day for deposits if you certified on Sunday. Make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your account - paper checks take much longer.

•What if it's been processing since last week? I certified on time but still haven't gotten paid and it's been 6 days now. Should I be worried?

•That's definitely not normal. You should call the NYS Department of Labor immediately. There might be an issue with your claim that needs to be resolved. Don't wait any longer.

I had the same panic about payment timing when I first started claiming. If you're having trouble getting through to the NYS Department of Labor phone lines to check on delays, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get connected to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Really saved me hours of calling and getting busy signals when I needed to check on a payment issue.

•How much does something like that cost? I'm already stressed about money and don't want to pay extra fees right now.

•It's worth checking out their site for details. For me it was worth it just to avoid the frustration of calling for hours and never getting through.

THE NYS DEPARTMENT OF LABOR PAYMENT SYSTEM IS SO FRUSTRATING!!! I've been waiting 3 weeks for my first payment and every time I call they say 'it's processing' - like what does that even mean?? How long does processing take???

•first payments always take longer because they have to verify everything, usually 2-3 weeks is normal for the initial one

Same boat here! Certified Sunday night and checking my bank account every hour lol. The anxiety is real when you're depending on this money.
