What time will my NYS Department of Labor unemployment benefits be deposited on my card?
I certified for my weekly claim yesterday and I'm wondering what time the money usually hits the debit card? This is my third week and the first two times I wasn't really paying attention to when exactly it showed up. I have some bills due today and need to know if I should expect it this morning or later. Does anyone know the typical deposit schedule for NYS Department of Labor payments?

From my experience, NYS Department of Labor usually processes payments overnight on Tuesday/Wednesday after you certify on Sunday or Monday. Most people see their funds available by 6 AM on Wednesday, but it can vary depending on your bank or the KeyBank debit card processing times. If you certified yesterday (Monday), you should see it tomorrow morning.

•Thank you! That's really helpful. I certified on Sunday so hopefully it shows up tomorrow morning.

•Wait, you can do direct deposit for unemployment? I thought everyone had to use the KeyBank card?

The KeyBank Way2Go card typically receives NYS Department of Labor deposits between 12:01 AM and 6:00 AM on Wednesdays, assuming you certified by Monday evening. However, if there are any issues with your weekly claim that require adjudication review, the payment will be delayed until those issues are resolved. You can check your claim status on the my.ny.gov portal to see if your payment has been processed.

•My claim status shows 'payment in progress' so I think I'm good. Thanks for the detailed timeline!

UGH the whole system is so frustrating! Sometimes it comes Tuesday night, sometimes Wednesday afternoon, there's no consistency at all. And don't even get me started on how impossible it is to reach anyone at NYS Department of Labor when there's a problem!

•I had issues reaching them too until someone here mentioned claimyr.com - it's a service that helps you get through to actual NYS Department of Labor agents. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Saved me hours of calling and getting hung up on.

Usually Wednesday morning for me but last week it didn't come until Thursday because of some holiday or something

I've been getting my unemployment benefits for about 6 months now and I can confirm what others are saying - it's typically Wednesday morning between 3-6 AM on the KeyBank card. The timing can vary a bit depending on bank processing, but Wednesday is pretty consistent as long as you certify by Monday evening. One tip: if you have the KeyBank Way2Go mobile app, you can set up notifications so you'll get an alert as soon as the deposit hits your account. That way you don't have to keep checking manually!

•That's a great tip about the KeyBank Way2Go app notifications! I didn't know you could set that up. I've been manually checking my balance every few hours on Wednesday mornings like an anxious person. Definitely going to download the app and set up those alerts - thanks for sharing that!

I've been collecting unemployment for about 4 months now and can share my experience with timing. For the KeyBank Way2Go card, I usually see my deposit hit between 2-4 AM on Wednesday morning, but I've had it come as late as 8 AM a few times. The key thing is making sure you certify by Monday evening - if you wait until Tuesday, it might delay your payment by a day. Also, keep in mind that if there are any banking holidays or system maintenance, it could push the deposit to Thursday. I'd recommend checking your my.ny.gov account to make sure your weekly claim shows as "processed" - that's usually a good indicator that the payment is on its way.

•This is really helpful information! I'm new to collecting unemployment benefits and wasn't sure about the timing. Good to know about checking the my.ny.gov account to confirm the claim is processed - I'll make sure to do that. Quick question: if my claim shows as "processed" but the money doesn't show up by Thursday morning, should I be concerned or is that still within the normal range?
