What day of the week does NYS Department of Labor unemployment pay you - still waiting for deposit
I certified my weekly claim on Tuesday morning but still haven't gotten paid. This is my third week filing and I'm not sure what day of the week NYS Department of Labor actually sends out payments. My bank account is still empty and I'm starting to worry something went wrong with my claim. Does anyone know the exact day payments usually hit your account? I thought it was supposed to be Wednesday but maybe I'm wrong.

Most NYS Department of Labor payments go out on Tuesdays if you certify on Sunday or Monday. If you file later in the week like Tuesday, your payment usually processes the following Tuesday. The money typically hits your bank account 1-2 business days after NYS Department of Labor releases it, so Wednesday or Thursday for most people.

•That makes sense - I filed Tuesday so maybe I need to wait until next week? This is all so confusing when you're new to the system.

Are you sure your claim isn't stuck in adjudication? I had the same thing happen where I was filing weekly claims but no payments were coming through. Turned out there was an issue with my job separation that needed to be reviewed. Check your my.ny.gov account to see if there are any flags or messages.

•I checked and it doesn't show any issues or messages. My claim status just says 'active' but I'll double check the adjudication section.

•Good idea. Also make sure you're answering all the weekly certification questions correctly - especially the one about being able and available for work.

NYS Department of Labor typically processes payments on Tuesdays and they're released to financial institutions that same day. Most banks post the deposits by Wednesday, but some credit unions and smaller banks might take until Thursday. If you're not seeing payment by Friday, there's definitely an issue that needs to be investigated.

I had this EXACT same problem last month! Kept filing my weekly claims but no money was coming through. Turns out I needed to speak with someone at NYS Department of Labor to verify some information but I couldn't get through on the phone. The wait times were insane and I kept getting disconnected. I ended up using this service called Claimyr that calls for you and gets you connected to an actual agent. Check out claimyr.com - they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Within 2 days of talking to an agent my payments started coming through normally.

•Really? I'll check that out because I definitely can't spend all day trying to call them. Did they charge you a lot?

•They focus on just getting you connected rather than charging crazy fees. Way better than sitting on hold for hours only to get hung up on.

The whole NYS Department of Labor payment system is a joke if you ask me. They make you jump through hoops every week just to get money you're entitled to, then they can't even tell you when you'll actually get paid. I've been dealing with this bureaucratic nightmare for months.

Mine comes every Wednesday like clockwork. Been getting unemployment since January and never had a problem with payment timing.

I'm in the same boat - filed my claim Tuesday and still waiting for payment. From what I'm reading here it sounds like since we filed Tuesday we might have to wait until next Tuesday for processing? The timing is really confusing when you're new to this. I'm going to check my my.ny.gov account more carefully to make sure there aren't any hidden issues or flags that might be holding things up. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it helps to know I'm not the only one trying to figure this out!

•Exactly! I'm glad I'm not the only one confused about the timing. It's frustrating when you're already stressed about finances and then you have to worry about whether you did something wrong with your claim. I'm going to follow everyone's advice and double-check my account for any issues, and if I don't see payment by Friday I'll probably look into that Claimyr service @Brooklyn mentioned. Keep me posted on how it goes for you!

I'm having the exact same issue! Filed my weekly claim on Tuesday and it's now Thursday with no deposit. This is only my second week filing so I'm still learning the process. Based on what everyone is saying here, it sounds like Tuesday filers might have to wait until the following Tuesday for processing, which would mean we won't see payment until next Wednesday or Thursday. That's really frustrating when you're counting on that money. I'm going to check my my.ny.gov account tonight to make sure there are no hidden issues or messages I missed. Thanks for asking this question - it's helpful to know other people are dealing with the same confusion!

•Same here! I'm also a Tuesday filer and it's really nerve-wracking when you're depending on that money to pay bills. From what I'm gathering from everyone's responses, it seems like the timing really depends on when you file during the week. I'm going to be more strategic about filing earlier in the week going forward - maybe Sunday or Monday like @Ezra mentioned. In the meantime, I'll also check my account thoroughly tonight and if nothing shows up by Friday, I might have to look into getting help from an actual agent. Thanks for sharing your experience - it definitely helps to know we're all figuring this out together!

I'm dealing with the exact same situation! Filed my weekly claim Tuesday morning and it's now Thursday with no payment in sight. This is my first time navigating the unemployment system and the uncertainty around payment timing is really stressful when you're already dealing with job loss. From reading everyone's responses, it seems like Tuesday filers get processed the following Tuesday, which means we probably won't see deposits until next Wednesday/Thursday. That's a full week+ wait which is tough when you're budgeting tight. I'm definitely going to start filing earlier in the week going forward - sounds like Sunday/Monday filers get their money much faster. Going to triple-check my my.ny.gov account tonight for any hidden issues and keep my fingers crossed for next week!

•I'm in the exact same boat as you! This is also my first time dealing with unemployment and the whole process feels so overwhelming. I filed Tuesday too and have been checking my bank account obsessively every few hours. It's really reassuring to see so many others going through the same thing - I was starting to think I messed something up on my application. The timing confusion is definitely the worst part when you're already stressed about money. I'm going to follow everyone's advice about filing earlier in the week from now on, and also do a thorough check of my account tonight. Hopefully we'll both see our payments next week! Thanks for sharing - it really helps to know we're all learning this together.

I'm also a Tuesday filer dealing with the same waiting game! This is week 4 for me and I've learned that Tuesday filers definitely get pushed to the next processing cycle. What helped me was setting up text alerts through my bank so I know immediately when the deposit hits rather than constantly checking my account. Also, if you're really concerned, you can call the automated phone line at 888-581-5812 to check your payment status - it doesn't require talking to a human and can tell you if your payment has been issued. The wait is definitely nerve-wracking but from my experience the payments do come through, just on that delayed Tuesday-to-Wednesday timeline everyone mentioned.

•Thanks for the tip about the automated phone line! I didn't know about 888-581-5812 - that's really helpful since I've been driving myself crazy refreshing my bank app every hour. Setting up text alerts is a great idea too. It's reassuring to hear from someone who's been through this cycle multiple times that the payments do eventually come through. I think the uncertainty is definitely the hardest part when you're new to all this. I'm going to call that number tonight to check my status and hopefully get some peace of mind while I wait for next week's processing cycle.

I'm experiencing the exact same frustration! Filed my weekly claim on Tuesday and it's now Friday with no deposit. This is my second week filing and I was really counting on that money to hit by now. Reading through everyone's responses has been incredibly helpful - it sounds like Tuesday filers like us get caught in the next processing cycle which means waiting until next Wednesday/Thursday for payment. That's such a long wait when you're already dealing with the stress of unemployment. I'm going to check that automated line at 888-581-5812 that @Oscar mentioned to see if my payment has at least been issued, and definitely plan to file earlier in the week going forward. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it really helps to know this timing confusion is normal and not just me messing something up!

•I'm going through the exact same thing! Filed Tuesday and it's now Friday with nothing in my account. This whole timing system is so confusing when you're already stressed about money. I had no idea that filing on Tuesday would push me into the next processing cycle - I wish they made that clearer on the website. Definitely calling that automated number you mentioned to at least check if my payment was issued. It's frustrating to have to wait over a week for money you desperately need, but I'm relieved to see from everyone's responses that this seems to be normal for Tuesday filers. Going to start filing Sunday or Monday next week for sure!

I'm dealing with the exact same issue! This is my first week filing and I certified on Tuesday morning too. It's really stressful not knowing if I did something wrong or if this is just normal timing. From reading everyone's responses, it sounds like we Tuesday filers are stuck waiting until next week's processing cycle. I had no idea the day you file makes such a big difference in when you get paid! I'm definitely going to call that automated line at 888-581-5812 to check my payment status and make sure everything is processing correctly. Going forward I'll definitely file on Sunday or Monday to avoid this long wait. Thanks for posting this question - it's such a relief to know I'm not the only one confused by the timing!

•I'm in the same exact situation! This is also my first time filing and I did it Tuesday morning. It's such a relief to see so many people going through the same confusion - I was starting to panic thinking I made some kind of error on my claim. The whole system is really not user-friendly for newcomers. I had no clue that the day you file determines when you get paid! Definitely going to call that automated number tonight to at least confirm my claim is being processed. And yeah, I'm definitely switching to filing on Sundays from now on. Thanks for asking this question - reading everyone's responses has been way more helpful than anything on the official website!
