When does NYS Department of Labor unemployment pay after certification - timeline help needed
I certified my weekly claim on Sunday night and it's now Thursday with no payment deposited yet. This is my second week claiming and I'm getting worried something went wrong. My first week took forever too but I thought that was just because it was my initial claim. Does anyone know the normal timeline for when NYS Department of Labor actually sends the payment after you certify? I really need this money for rent and I'm starting to panic that there's an issue with my claim.

Typically NYS Department of Labor processes payments within 1-3 business days after certification if there are no issues with your claim. Since you certified Sunday night, you should see the deposit by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Check your online account to make sure your certification went through properly and there are no pending issues requiring attention.

•Just checked and it shows 'payment processed' but still nothing in my bank account. Maybe it's just my bank being slow?

If your account shows 'payment processed' then NYS Department of Labor has released the funds. Different banks have different processing times - some credit the account immediately while others can take 1-2 additional business days. Direct deposit is faster than debit card payments. You should definitely see it by Friday if it was processed.

•This is so stressful! I wish they would just tell us exactly when to expect it instead of these vague timelines.

I had issues reaching someone at NYS Department of Labor when my payments were delayed last month. Found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me through to a real person same day. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Might be worth checking out if you continue having payment delays and need to speak with someone directly.

•Thanks, I'll keep that in mind if this becomes a regular problem. Hopefully it's just a one-time delay.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS A MESS! They make us jump through hoops every week and then can't even pay us on time. I've been waiting since Monday for my payment and getting different answers every time I call. This is people's RENT money we're talking about!

Same boat here, certified Sunday and still waiting. At least yours shows payment processed - mine just says 'claim under review' which is making me really nervous.

•If it says 'claim under review' that's different from a normal processing delay. You should check if there are any pending issues in your account that need to be resolved.
