NYS Department of Labor shows paid but I haven't received unemployment payment
My weekly claim on the NYS Department of Labor website shows 'paid' for last week but I still haven't gotten the money. It's been 4 days since it changed to paid status and usually I get my deposit within 2 days. My bank account hasn't changed and I'm using the same debit card I've been using for months. Is this normal or should I be worried? Has anyone else had their unemployment payment delayed even when NYS Department of Labor says it's already paid?

This happens sometimes with the NYS Department of Labor payment system. When it says 'paid' it means they've processed the payment on their end, but it can take 2-3 business days to actually show up in your account. If it's been more than 3 business days since the status changed to paid, then you should contact your bank first to make sure there's no issue with your debit card.

•It's been 4 business days now. I'll call my bank tomorrow to see if there's a problem on their end.

•Good point, I'll check that too. My card should be good until next year but worth double checking.

If your bank confirms there's no issue on their end, you'll need to contact NYS Department of Labor about a payment trace. This is frustrating because their phone lines are always busy. I had luck using Claimyr to get through to someone at NYS Department of Labor when I had a similar payment issue - you can check it out at claimyr.com. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Basically helps you get connected to an actual person instead of sitting on hold forever.

•Never heard of that service before. Did it actually work for you?

•Yeah it worked for me. Got through to someone in about 20 minutes instead of calling all day and getting busy signals.

The NYS Department of Labor payment system is SO messed up. I've had payments delayed, duplicate payments, payments that never showed up at all. They act like everything is fine on their end but clearly there are major issues with their processing. And good luck getting anyone on the phone to actually help.

•I feel you on this. The whole system needs an overhaul but they just keep saying everything is working normally.

This is exactly why I keep detailed records of everything. Screenshot your payment history page and note the date it changed to 'paid' status. If you have to file a payment trace later, you'll need that documentation.

I had this exact same issue a few months ago! NYS Department of Labor showed "paid" for over a week but no deposit. After calling my bank and confirming everything was fine on their end, I had to contact NYS DOL directly. The payment had actually gotten stuck in their system somehow and they had to manually release it. It's definitely frustrating but don't panic yet - give your bank a call first like others suggested, then if that doesn't resolve it, you'll need to reach out to NYS DOL for a payment investigation.

•@Isaiah Cross That s'really helpful to know it was a system issue on their end. How long did it take for them to manually release your payment once you got through to someone? I m'hoping it doesn t'come to that but good to know what to expect if the bank says everything looks fine.

•@Isaiah Cross How did you manage to get through to someone at NYS DOL? I ve'been trying their phone lines for weeks on a different issue and can never get past the busy signal. Any tips for the best times to call or specific numbers that work better?
