NYS Department of Labor - why am I not receiving my unemployment benefits after 2 weeks?

Filed my unemployment claim two weeks ago and still haven't received any payments. My claim status shows 'active' on the NYS Department of Labor website but when I check my payment history it's completely blank. I've been filing my weekly claims on time and answering all the questions correctly. My direct deposit info is set up properly too. Has anyone else experienced delays like this? Should I be worried or is this normal processing time?

This is pretty common actually. Even though your claim shows active, there might be an adjudication issue that's not visible on the main page. Check under the 'Messages' section in your account - sometimes there are requests for additional documentation that you might have missed. Also make sure you're completing your job search requirements correctly.

I checked messages and don't see anything there. What exactly are the job search requirements? I thought I just had to apply for jobs but maybe I'm missing something?

Two weeks isn't that unusual unfortunately. I waited almost 3 weeks for my first payment even though everything looked correct. The system is just slow sometimes, especially if they need to verify your employment history with your previous employer.

Same here! My claim was approved but payments were delayed because they were verifying my wages. It's frustrating but try to be patient.

I had this exact problem last month and couldn't get through to anyone at NYS Department of Labor by phone. The hold times are insane and I kept getting disconnected. I ended up using this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. The agent was able to tell me there was a wage verification hold on my account that wasn't showing up anywhere online.

How much does something like that cost? I'm already stressed about money and don't want to pay a bunch of fees.

It's way cheaper than missing weeks of benefits while trying to figure out what's wrong. Plus they only charge if they actually get you connected to someone.

THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! I've been waiting 6 weeks for my benefits and nobody can give me a straight answer. They just keep saying 'under review' but won't tell me what they're reviewing. Meanwhile I can't pay my rent!

I feel you man, this whole system is a joke. They make it impossible to get help when you actually need it.

did you make sure to file your weekly claim every week? sometimes people think filing the initial claim is enough but you have to keep filing weekly even if you haven't gotten paid yet

Yes I've been filing every Sunday like I'm supposed to. That's why I'm so confused about why nothing is happening.

Have you tried calling the dedicated technical support line at 518-457-9000? It's separate from the main claims line and sometimes has shorter wait times. Also, check if your bank account information is exactly correct - even small differences in how your name appears can cause payment delays. I had a similar issue where my middle initial was missing and it held up everything for weeks. You might also want to log out completely and log back in to see if any error messages appear that weren't showing before.

Thanks for the tip about the technical support line! I'll definitely try calling 518-457-9000 tomorrow. I double-checked my bank info and everything looks correct, but I'll try logging out and back in to see if any hidden error messages pop up. It's so frustrating that these issues aren't more visible on the main dashboard. Really appreciate the specific advice!
