Why haven't I received my NYS Department of Labor unemployment payment this week?
It's been 6 days since I certified my weekly claim on the NYS Department of Labor website and I still haven't gotten my payment. Usually it shows up in my account within 2-3 days. My claim status still says active and there's no messages in my inbox about any issues. I've been filing every week since October and this is the first time it's been delayed like this. Is anyone else experiencing payment delays right now? Should I be worried or is this normal sometimes?

Check your payment history section on the my.ny.gov portal - sometimes there's a processing delay that shows up there before it hits your bank account. Also make sure you didn't accidentally answer any of the weekly certification questions differently than usual. Even small changes can trigger a review.

•I looked at the payment history and it just shows 'payment processed' but no deposit date. All my answers were the same as always.

•That's reassuring to hear it eventually came through. Did you do anything or just wait it out?

Payment delays can happen for several reasons - bank processing issues, holiday weekends affecting ACH transfers, or random system reviews. If it's been more than a week, you should call the NYS Department of Labor claims center. However, their phone lines are notoriously difficult to get through on. I had success using a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me reach an actual agent when I had a similar payment delay. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. The agent was able to see my payment was stuck in processing and released it the same day.

•Never heard of that service before but might be worth trying. The regular phone number is impossible to get through to.

THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN! I've had payments delayed THREE times this year for no reason whatsoever. They hold onto OUR money while we're struggling to pay rent and buy food. It's criminal how they treat unemployed people in this state!

•I understand the frustration but delays do happen in any payment system. Most of the time there's a legitimate reason even if they don't communicate it well.

Could be your bank too - sometimes they hold deposits for review especially if the amounts vary. Call your bank and ask if there's anything pending.

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my weekly certification on Sunday and it's now Thursday with no payment. My claim status shows active and no issues flagged. This is really stressful because I have bills due tomorrow. Has anyone tried contacting their local career center instead of the main phone line? I heard they might be able to help check on payment status.
