How long does a pending payment take for unemployment - NYS Department of Labor delays?
I filed my weekly claim last Sunday and it's been showing as 'pending' on my ny.gov account since Tuesday. Usually my payments process within 2-3 days but this is day 6 now. My claim status is active and I don't see any issues or flags on my account. I'm starting to worry something went wrong with my job search contacts or maybe there's a system issue. Has anyone else experienced delays with pending payments recently? How long should I wait before calling NYS Department of Labor?

Pending payments can take anywhere from 2-10 business days depending on several factors. If your claim went into adjudication for any reason (like a discrepancy in work search activities or earnings), it could be delayed while they review. Check if you received any correspondence in your online account or mail about additional verification needed.

•I checked and there's no correspondence or requests for additional info. My work search log is complete with 3 contacts like required. Really hoping it's just a processing delay.

•That's somewhat reassuring, thanks. Did you eventually get the full amount or was anything withheld?

If you're past day 7 and still pending, I'd recommend trying to contact NYS Department of Labor directly. The phone lines are usually swamped though. I actually found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an actual agent when I was having similar payment delays. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI. Much easier than sitting on hold for hours.

•Never heard of that service before but honestly anything is better than trying to call myself. The few times I've gotten through they just tell me to wait longer.

THE SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY BROKEN!!! I've been waiting 3 WEEKS for a pending payment and every time I call they give me a different excuse. First it was a 'routine review' then they said there was a 'technical issue' and now they're saying my employer hasn't responded to something. This is ridiculous!

•Ugh that sounds awful! Have you tried filing a complaint or reaching out to your state representative's office?

For the original poster - if this drags on past 10 business days, definitely escalate. Sometimes pending payments get stuck in the system due to random flags or if there was any employer response to your separation that needs review. The key is getting to speak with someone who can look at your specific case rather than getting generic responses.

•Thanks for the advice. I'm going to give it until Monday (which would be day 10) and then try that Claimyr service someone mentioned if I still can't get through on my own.

I'm dealing with something similar right now - filed my weekly claim on Sunday and it's been pending for 4 days. This is my first time experiencing a delay like this since I started collecting benefits 2 months ago. Reading through these responses, it sounds like anywhere from a week to 10+ days isn't unusual. Really hoping it resolves soon because I have rent due next week. The uncertainty is almost worse than the actual delay.
