How long after submitting payment request for unemployment - NYS Department of Labor processing time?

I submitted my payment request through the NYS Department of Labor system on Tuesday and I'm wondering how long it typically takes to see the money hit my account. This is my fourth week claiming and the previous payments came pretty quickly but this one seems to be taking longer. My claim status still shows as 'released for payment' but nothing in my bank account yet. Is this normal or should I be worried something went wrong with my weekly claim?

Usually takes 1-2 business days after your weekly claim is processed and shows 'released for payment' status. Since you submitted Tuesday, you should see it by Thursday or Friday at the latest. The NYS Department of Labor payment system is pretty reliable once your claim is approved.

Thanks! I was getting nervous since my rent is due Monday. Good to know it's still within the normal timeframe.

mine always comes exactly 2 days after i certify, like clockwork. but i think it depends on your bank too - some process ACH transfers faster than others

If you're not seeing the payment by Friday, I'd recommend calling the NYS Department of Labor. Sometimes there can be delays if there's an issue with your job search log or if they need additional verification. You can also check your payment history on the my.ny.gov portal to see if there are any holds on your account.

Good luck getting through on the phone though! I've been trying to reach someone at NYS Department of Labor for a week about my adjudication issue. The hold times are insane and half the time I just get disconnected.

I had the same problem with long hold times until someone told me about Claimyr (claimyr.com). They help you get through to NYS Department of Labor agents faster. There's even a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI. I was skeptical at first but it actually worked - got connected in like 20 minutes instead of waiting hours.

Sometimes I wonder if they do this on PURPOSE to mess with us... like why can't they just tell us exactly when the money will hit instead of this vague 'released for payment' nonsense. We're already stressed enough dealing with being unemployed!

I feel you on that frustration but the payment timing is usually pretty consistent once you get used to the pattern.
