ESD showing 'paid' status but no deposit to my debit card - need urgent help

I've been checking my ESD account constantly for the past 3 days and it shows my weekly claim as 'paid' but I still haven't received any money on my debit card. This is my first time filing since getting laid off from construction work last month, and I'm getting really confused about the timeline. The ESD website says payment should be processed within 2 business days after the 'paid' status appears. Has anyone experienced this delay between 'paid' status and actual deposit? I'm starting to worry something's wrong with my banking info, but I double-checked and it all looks correct. Should I call the claims center or is this normal and I just need to wait longer? I've got rent coming up next week and really counting on this payment.

I've been through this exact situation! ESD's system sometimes shows 'paid' but it can take 3-5 business days to actually hit your debit card. The 2-day timeline on their website is pretty optimistic lol. Before panicking, check if there are any bank holidays recently that might have slowed things down. If you still don't see it by tomorrow, definitely try to contact ESD. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual agent when this happened to me - saved hours of hold time and got it sorted in one call. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent was able to confirm my payment was actually processing and hadn't gotten stuck somewhere.

Thanks for the info! There was a bank holiday on Monday so maybe that's why. If it doesn't show up by tomorrow afternoon I'll definitely try that Claimyr service. Did they ask you any security questions when you finally got through to verify your identity? Just want to be prepared with the right info when I call.

That's actually a relief to hear, thanks. I was worried I did something wrong with my claim.

This delay is actually normal, but it depends on your bank and when you filed your weekly claim. ESD typically processes payments in batches: 1. If you filed on Sunday, payment usually hits Tuesday-Wednesday 2. If you filed on Monday, payment usually hits Wednesday-Thursday 3. If you filed later in the week, it might not process until the following Monday Also important: The first payment often takes longer because they're setting up your claim in their payment system. If this is truly your first payment, I'd wait at least 5 business days before calling. One more thing to check - make sure you verified your identity through ID.me if required. Missing identity verification will show as 'paid' but won't actually release funds.

I filed on Monday morning and did complete the ID.me verification when I first applied about two weeks ago. That makes sense about the first payment potentially taking longer - I wish they'd make that clearer on the website! Thanks for the detailed explanation.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!! The ESD website is COMPLETELY MISLEADING about payment times. Mine said "paid" for over a WEEK before the money showed up! I called them 8 TIMES before getting through and the agent just said "it's processing" like that explains anything. The system is totally broken and they don't care at all about people waiting for their money. I was almost evicted waiting for my "paid" benefits to actually pay! And don't even get me started on how they calculate the benefit amounts...

While I understand your frustration, a week delay is not typical. It sounds like your claim might have had additional issues. For most people, the delay between 'paid' status and deposit is 2-5 business days depending on their bank's processing time. If anyone experiences longer delays, it's worth contacting ESD as there could be a specific problem with your claim.

Just checked my messages and there's nothing new there. I haven't received any emails either. I'll give it until tomorrow and then try calling if it doesn't show up. Getting worried about making rent, honestly.

Just to add some technical clarification on how ESD's payment system works: When your claim shows 'paid' in eServices, it means ESD has approved the payment and released it to their financial processing system. From there, it goes through an ACH transfer to your bank or debit card provider. This ACH transfer typically takes 2-3 business days, but can take up to 5 depending on holidays, weekends, and your bank's processing times. First-time payments often take the full 5 days because they're establishing the payment channel. If you're using the ReliaCard (ESD's debit card option), payments typically arrive faster than direct deposits to personal bank accounts, usually within 2-3 business days of showing 'paid'. If it's been more than 5 business days since the 'paid' status appeared, then you should definitely contact ESD as there might be an issue with your payment information or a hold that isn't showing up in your online account.

I am using the ReliaCard, so hopefully it should show up soon based on what you're saying. Today is day 3 since it showed 'paid' so I'll give it until tomorrow. Really appreciate the detailed explanation!

Did you check if ur card is actually activated? I thought mine wasn't working but turns out I never finished the activation process lol. Also sometimes the app shows deposits before the website does.

Yeah I activated the card as soon as I got it about a week ago. I've downloaded the ReliaCard app now too - good suggestion about checking there instead of just the website.

UPDATE: Money finally hit my card this morning! Looks like it was just the normal processing delay plus the holiday that made it take longer. Thanks everyone for the help and keeping me from panicking. For anyone else seeing this post with the same issue - patience is key, but definitely call if it goes beyond 5 business days!
