ESD payment processed date was 11/27 but still nothing on my card Dec 2?
I'm really confused and starting to worry about my unemployment payment. My ESD account shows my weekly claim was processed on November 27th, but here we are on December 2nd and there's still no money on my prepaid card. Normally the funds show up within 1-2 business days after the process date. I'm getting anxious because rent is due and I was counting on this payment. Has anyone else experienced delays between the process date and when the money actually hits their card? Is there someone specific I should call about this? The last time I called the regular ESD number they just told me to wait...

There could be a few things happening here. First, remember that Nov 27th was the Monday after Thanksgiving weekend, so there might be processing delays due to the holiday. Also, if this is your first payment, it can take longer than usual - sometimes up to 5 business days. If you've had previous payments arrive faster, there might be a technical issue or a hold on your claim that doesn't show up in your regular account view.

•Thanks for responding! No, this isn't my first payment - I've been on unemployment for about 2 months now, and payments have always shown up within 48 hours of processing. Do holiday weekends really affect it that much? Shouldn't the money still be there by now?

•Did you ever find out why it was delayed? I'm worried there's something wrong with my claim but there's no alerts or messages in my account...

This sounds like it might be related to the bank holiday schedule more than an ESD issue. When payments are processed right around holidays, it can take additional days because of how the banking system works. Since Nov 27 was right after Thanksgiving weekend, and we're only at Dec 2, you're looking at potentially just 3-4 business days. I'd give it until tomorrow before getting too concerned. If nothing shows up by EOD Dec 5th, then you should definitely contact both ESD and whoever issues your prepaid card (USBank or KeyBank) to see if there's a problem on either end. Sometimes the issue is with the card issuer, not ESD!

•This is right. Also check if there's any security holds on your card. One time my payment didn't show up and it turned out my card had a fraud alert for some reason?? Had nothing to do with ESD at all.

If you need to get through to ESD quickly, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in a similar situation last month - payment processed but never showed up, and I couldn't get through on the phone. I used their service and got connected to an ESD agent in about 30 minutes instead of spending hours redialing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Turns out there was a payment block on my account that didn't show up in my online portal. The agent removed it and my payment arrived the next day.

•Never heard of that service before - does it actually work? I'm desperate to talk to someone at this point. Did they make you wait on hold after connecting you or did you get straight through?

•They don't make you wait on hold - they basically call ESD for you and only connect you once they get through to a real person. Saved me hours of frustration. The agent told me there was a random verification flag on my account that was holding up payment, but it didn't generate any notifications.

UGH the ESD payment system is SO BROKEN!!! My payments have been randomly delayed THREE TIMES this year with NO EXPLANATION!!! One time they told me it was "system maintenance" another time they said it was a "verification hold" and another time they just said "these things happen" 🤬 The worst part is you can NEVER get someone on the phone when you ACTUALLY NEED THEM!!! Meanwhile bills don't wait and landlords don't care about ESD's problems!!!

•While the system definitely has issues, I've found that most payment delays are actually resolved within 5 business days. For the OP, since the processing date was the 27th (Monday after Thanksgiving), and today is just December 2nd (Saturday), that's really only 4 business days when you account for the weekend. I'd suggest waiting until Tuesday before assuming something is wrong with the payment. Also, make sure your prepaid card hasn't expired or been locked for security reasons - that happens more often than people realize.

UPDATE: I called my prepaid card bank this morning and they told me there's an incoming ACH deposit pending for tomorrow morning! No idea why it took 6 business days when it usually takes 1-2, but at least it's coming. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. The holiday delay must have been longer than I expected.

•Glad to hear it's on its way! The Thanksgiving holiday definitely threw things off. For future reference, most banking holidays can add 1-3 extra business days to processing times, especially for government payments. I always try to submit my weekly claim extra early during holiday weeks to account for this.
