ESD payment delay after reporting work hours - anyone else's Monday deposit missing?

I usually get my unemployment deposit every Monday like clockwork but nothing today. I reported about 9 hours of part-time work on my weekly claim (still well under my benefit amount) and now my payment's nowhere to be seen. Called ESD this morning after checking my account for the 10th time and the agent mentioned something about a "system glitch affecting partial claims" but couldn't give me details. Has anyone else who normally gets paid on Mondays experiencing a delay? Especially if you reported some work hours? Getting nervous since rent is due soon...

Thanks for confirming I'm not alone! Did they ever explain why it was delayed last time? Did you have to do anything special or it just eventually showed up?

This happens periodically when part-time hours are reported. The ESD system occasionally flags partial claims for additional verification, especially when there's a change in your reporting pattern. The good news is that these delays are typically only 1-3 business days. If you don't see your payment by Thursday, then I'd recommend following up. In the meantime, make sure you have documentation of your work hours in case they request verification. This usually resolves itself without any action needed on your part.

This is reassuring, thank you! Do you know if they'll send me some kind of notification if they need verification, or should I just wait? I'm so paranoid about missing something and losing benefits.

Interesting that people who didn't work got paid normal but those with partial work hours are delayed. Classic ESD... always making life difficult for people trying to work part-time while on UI.

I've been going through this EXACT issue but for three weeks now! I reported 15 hours at my new part-time job and suddenly they put my whole claim in adjudication!!! The ESD website just says "pending" with no explanation and every time I call I just get the stupid recording saying they're experiencing high call volume. I'm literally about to be evicted and can't get through to anyone who can help. This system is BROKEN!!!

If you've been stuck in adjudication for three weeks, that's actually a different issue than what OP is describing. When you report substantial work hours for the first time, ESD sometimes triggers a review to make sure your part-time status doesn't affect your eligibility. I was in the same situation last year and was desperate after trying to call for days. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent was able to clear my adjudication status right away once I actually reached someone. Worth considering if you're at risk of eviction - waiting for ESD to handle things on their own timeline can be risky.

This is a known issue that started yesterday. I work for a workforce development program and we've had several clients report the same problem. According to what we've heard from our ESD liaison, there was a system update over the weekend that's causing delays specifically for claims with partial hours reported. The good news: payments are being processed in batches today and tomorrow, so most affected claimants should see their deposits by Wednesday morning. This isn't an adjudication issue, just a processing delay. No action is needed on your part unless you don't receive payment by Thursday. If anyone is experiencing a delay beyond Thursday, that could indicate a different issue and would warrant contacting ESD directly.

UPDATE: Just checked my account and the payment just posted! About 9 hours later than usual but it's there. Looks like it was just a processing delay like @WorkforceHelper mentioned. If you're having the same issue, check your accounts now!

this is why i always keep detailed records of EVERYTHING with esd. screenshots of my weekly claims, work search logs, bank statement deposits, all of it. they mess up constantly and then act like its YOUR fault. had to appeal an overpayment last year because of their system glitch and it took 4 months to resolve. never trust their systems to work correctly!!

That's actually a really good point. I'll start taking screenshots of everything too. Did you use any specific method to organize all your documentation? I'm worried about missing something important.

Just as a heads-up for everyone: This delay was caused by ESD implementing their quarterly system updates. They typically do these the last weekend of every quarter, but they rarely announce them in advance. If you report part-time hours during these update periods (especially March/June/September/December), you might experience delays. It's always a good practice to budget with the assumption that your UI payment might occasionally be 2-3 days late, especially around these quarterly transitions. The payments are rarely missed completely, just delayed.

wish they would at least TELL ppl about these updates!! not everyone has extra money to cover when they decide to be late with payments 🙄
