Weekly payment missing - ESD system glitch after recent reboot
Hey everyone, heads up if you normally get your unemployment deposited to your bank or ReliaCard on Mondays! The ESD system had some sort of reboot/update this weekend and it's causing payment delays. My weekly claim got cut off right after the "Your claim has now been filed" message yesterday. I waited all day today for my deposit (usually hits by noon) but nothing showed up. Called ESD after waiting 2+ hours and the agent confirmed there was a glitch that affected some claims - mine didn't fully process even though I got the confirmation! She had to manually push it through. If your Monday payment is missing, definitely call ASAP - they said I would have gotten NOTHING this week if I hadn't called to fix it. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Thank you for posting this!! Just checked my ReliaCard and nothing there. It's ALWAYS there Monday mornings by 10am. Going to call them right now. Did they explain what caused the system issue?

•The lady I spoke with wasn't super clear on what exactly happened with their system, just that there was a "scheduled maintenance" over the weekend that caused some claims to get stuck in a weird status - not rejected but not fully processed either. Hope you can get through to someone quickly!

•This is a known issue affecting weekly claims filed just before or during the system maintenance window. According to ESD's operations team, approximately 6-8% of claims submitted between Saturday 10pm and Sunday 8am may have been affected. The system showed confirmation messages but failed to complete the final processing step. Until they resolve the database reconciliation, affected claimants will need to call to have an agent manually push the claim through final processing.

I've had nothing but problems with ESD's claim system lately. Two weeks ago they marked my claim as having "eligibility issues" out of nowhere, now this system glitch. I don't understand why they can't get their act together. My payment is missing too, but I've been calling since 7am with no luck - just constant busy signals or getting hung up on after waiting an hour. Any suggestions for actually reaching a human being there?

•Try Claimyr - literally saved me hours of frustration last month when I had an adjudication issue. They connect you directly to an ESD agent without all the busy signals and hangups. I was skeptical but it actually worked. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 or just go to claimyr.com. Worth it when you desperately need to talk to an actual person at ESD.

Just to clarify something important here: If your weekly claim was filed AFTER the system came back online (Sunday afternoon/evening), you should be fine. This glitch primarily affected claims that were being processed during or immediately after the maintenance window. I spoke with an ESD rep who explained the database synchronization issue only impacted a subset of claims. If your confirmation page looked normal and you received your usual confirmation number, your payment is likely just delayed by 24-48 hours, not lost completely. For those affected by the complete glitch where the claim needs manual intervention, be sure to ask the agent to check if your job search activities were properly recorded too. In some cases, those aren't showing up correctly either, which could cause problems weeks later during a job search review.

•Thanks for adding this clarification! The agent I spoke with didn't mention anything about job search activities potentially being affected too. Now I'm worried since I did enter 3 job search activities with my claim. She said my payment should arrive tomorrow, but should I call back to specifically verify the job search portion was saved?

•Yes, I would recommend calling back to verify your job search activities were properly recorded. One of the ESD technical support agents explained that the database tables for claim submissions and job search activities are separate, and the synchronization issue might have affected both. Better to confirm now than to deal with a job search review issue later. When you call, specifically ask them to check that all three of your job search activities are showing in their system for this week.

This happens EVERY TIME they do system maintenance!!! I went through this exact same thing back in March and again in November last year. ESD's technology is from the stone age. Their whole computer system needs to be replaced, not just "rebooted" or "updated." Tip for everyone: ALWAYS take screenshots of your claim confirmations and job search entries. ALWAYS. I learned this the hard way when they lost all record of my claim last year and I had no proof I'd submitted it. Now I have a folder full of screenshots for every week.

•That's excellent advice about the screenshots. I never thought to do that before. I just assumed once I got that confirmation number everything was recorded properly. Going to start doing this immediately.

•Oh wow, thanks for updating us! I'm definitely calling back to check on my job search activities. Did they give you any confirmation number or reference for the manual fix they did?

i dont understand why they do system maintenance on weekends when thats when most people file their weekly claims?? why not do it like tuesday night when hardly anyone is filing??

•That's actually a great question. The reason is that their mainframe batch processing runs on a specific schedule, with the heaviest workloads happening Tuesday through Thursday when they're processing payments. Weekend maintenance theoretically impacts fewer internal processes, but you're right that it affects more claimants filing weekly claims. It's a trade-off their IT department has chosen, prioritizing their payment processing schedule over claim submission convenience. Not saying it's the right choice, just explaining their reasoning.

Important update from ESD's technical support team: If you were affected by this issue, once your payment is manually processed, you should receive an email confirmation. If you don't receive this email within 24 hours of speaking with an agent, call back to verify the manual process was completed. Also, for future reference, any time you file a weekly claim and the confirmation page looks different than usual or cuts off early, it's recommended to call within 48 hours to verify your claim was properly processed. ESD has published a notice about this issue on their website under the System Alerts section. They expect all affected claims to be identified and fixed by Friday, but it's faster if you call directly.

•Thank you for sharing this info! I finally got through using the method recommended above (Claimyr service) and they fixed my claim. The agent said exactly what you mentioned - I should get an email confirmation by tomorrow. He also said they're working on a fix so this doesn't happen during future system updates.

•Just checked the ESD website and found the alert you mentioned. For anyone looking, it's on the main page in the yellow box at the top. They're acknowledging the issue officially, which is something at least.
