Will changing direct deposit to Cash App day before TWC payment delay benefits?

So I just checked my TWC account and my payment is scheduled for deposit this Wednesday (in 2 days). I'm thinking about switching my direct deposit info to my Cash App instead of my regular bank, but I'm worried it might mess up this week's payment. Has anyone changed their direct deposit info right before a scheduled payment? Did it cause any delays? Also curious if anyone has used Cash App for TWC deposits and if it hits your account any faster than regular banks? I need this money ASAP and don't want to do anything that might hold it up!

I wouldn't risk changing deposit info this close to your payment date. TWC systems are slow to update and you might cause your payment to get rejected or delayed by several days. I learned this the hard way when I changed my bank info 2 days before payment and ended up waiting an extra week because the payment bounced back. If you really need the money ASAP, let this payment go to your current account and then change it for future payments.

Yikes, an extra week?? Definitely can't afford that right now. Thanks for the warning - I'll wait until after this payment hits.

Do you get it any faster with Cash App than regular bank? I heard some people say they get it a day early sometimes.

DONT DO IT!!! TWC payment system is GARBAGE and takes like 3-5 business days to process ANY changes to direct deposit info!! I changed mine last month and my payment went into LIMBO for almost 2 WEEKS!!!! Had to call them 27 TIMES before someone could tell me what happened - the payment was RETURNED and had to be RE-ISSUED! The TWC website should have a WARNING about this but NOOOOOO that would be too HELPFUL for them!!! 😑

Oh wow that sounds awful! Definitely not changing anything until after this payment clears. Did they at least give you the money eventually or did you have to file an appeal or something?

I got it eventually but only after HOURS wasted trying to reach someone. And no apology or anything for their crappy system causing the delay!!

This is a common question, and it's wise to be cautious. TWC processes direct deposit changes in batches, and the timing can affect your payment: - If you change your direct deposit information after a payment has been processed but before it's released, it could cause delays - TWC recommends making account changes immediately after receiving a payment, not right before the next one - Cash App works fine for TWC deposits, but there's no guarantee it will be faster than a traditional bank If your payment is already scheduled for Wednesday, I would strongly recommend waiting until Thursday to change your direct deposit information. This ensures the current payment processes normally.

exactly thisπŸ‘† I work in banking and ACH transfers (which is what direct deposits use) are very sensitive to account changes. Once the transfer is initiated, changing the destination account information can absolutely cause problems. The payment might get rejected and have to be reissued.

I had a similar situation last month and tried calling TWC to ask this exact question, but couldn't get through to anyone. I ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get past the busy signals and actually spoke to a representative in about 20 minutes. They told me changing direct deposit within 3 days of a scheduled payment could delay it by up to 10 business days, so I waited. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh - way better than spending days trying to get through.

Does this really work? I've been trying to call TWC about my back pay for weeks and can't get through!

Yes, it worked for me twice now. Both times I got through to a rep within 30 minutes instead of trying for days. The first agent I spoke with was actually super helpful and fixed several issues with my claim that had been pending for weeks.

I've been using Cash App for my unemployment benefits for about 3 months now and it works great. As for changing right before payment - I wouldn't risk it personally. Wait until after Wednesday's payment clears your current account, then make the switch for future payments. That's the safest bet!

Thanks! I think that's what I'm going to do. From what everyone's saying, it seems like too big a risk to change it now. I'll stick with my regular bank for this payment and switch to Cash App after.

One important thing nobody mentioned - if you DO change your direct deposit info, make sure to take a screenshot of the confirmation page. TWC's system sometimes "forgets" changes and having proof that you submitted the change can save you a lot of headaches if something goes wrong with future payments.

I just wanted to update on my experience with Cash App since a few people asked. I've been using it for TWC deposits for about 6 months now. The money usually posts slightly earlier than it did with my credit union (sometimes the night before the official payment date). The only downside is that Cash App doesn't have a physical location if you ever have issues, so keep that in mind.
