Will Memorial Day holiday delay my TWC unemployment payment deposit?
My regular request payment day is Tuesday of this week, but I just realized Monday is Memorial Day (a bank holiday). Will this affect when I receive my deposit? My bank normally pays me early Wednesday night. Getting kinda anxious because I have a few bills scheduled to auto-pay Thursday morning. Has anyone experienced payment delays with TWC due to holidays? TIA

Yes, holiday will probably push it back. Memorial Day means TWC processing gets delayed by a day typically. I'd expect your deposit Thursday instead of Wednesday this time. Might wanna reschedule those auto-payments if possible.

•Ughhh that's what I was afraid of. I'll have to call my utility company in the morning to see if I can move the payment date. Why doesn't TWC adjust for holidays??

Actually, it depends on your bank. TWC usually processes payment requests on schedule regardless of holidays, but your bank's processing might be affected. TWC sends the payment information the same day you request payment (Tuesday), but the bank holiday might delay how quickly your bank processes it. In my experience, holiday delays are usually just 24 hours. I'd recommend checking your TWC payment status online through your account portal on Tuesday evening - if it shows 'processed' but doesn't hit your bank by Wednesday night, then it's your bank's holiday schedule causing the delay.

I've been on unemployment for 5 months now and have had this happen with several holidays. TWC actually does adjust their processing for federal holidays, but they don't always communicate it clearly. For Memorial Day specifically, your Tuesday payment request will still be processed but typically with a 1-day delay. So expect it Thursday instead of Wednesday. If you need to talk to someone at TWC to confirm this for your specific claim, good luck... their phone lines are impossible. I spent 3 days trying to get through last month about a similar issue. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to a TWC agent in under 10 minutes. Totally worth it to avoid the busy signals and waiting. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh

•is that service legit? seems sketchy to pay someone just to call unemployment for you

•Yeah it's legitimate - they don't call for you, they just get you past the busy signals. You still talk directly to TWC yourself. It's just a way to bypass the phone system nightmare.

•That's stressful! I've had pretty consistent timing with my bank until now, but good to know I shouldn't always count on the exact day.

To give you the most accurate information: TWC processes payment requests on schedule, but there are multiple factors that affect when deposits hit your account: 1. TWC's payment processing (usually same day as request for direct deposit) 2. ACH transfer time (1-2 business days) 3. Your bank's processing time (varies by institution) With Monday being Memorial Day, banks don't process ACH transfers, so this effectively adds one business day to the timeline. If you normally see funds Wednesday night, expect Thursday night instead. This is because the ACH transfer that would normally begin processing Monday will start Tuesday instead. For future reference, all federal holidays will create this same one-day delay pattern. I recommend always building in a 1-2 day buffer for autopayments after holidays.

•Thank you for explaining the whole process! This makes a lot of sense. I'm going to adjust my autopay dates to be safer in the future.

this happened to me before fourth of july last year i called my bank and they said they could see the pending deposit but it wouldn't clear until the next business day maybe call your bank and see if they can see anything pending?

•Good idea! Sometimes the bank's customer service can see pending ACH transfers before they show up in your account online.

Here's a tip for future holidays - I always make my payment request a day early if possible when there's a holiday that week. I'm not sure if it actually helps but I feel like it does lol. And I've never had a major delay that way.

•This isn't quite accurate. TWC only allows payment requests on your assigned day or later in the same week. You can't request earlier than your assigned day. But requesting later in the week (Wednesday instead of Tuesday, for example) might help avoid holiday delays in some cases.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know my payment did get delayed exactly one day - hit my account Thursday night instead of Wednesday. I was able to move my autopayments thankfully. Thanks for all the help!

Thanks for posting this update! This is really helpful for others who might face the same situation during holiday weeks. It's good to know the delay was predictable - exactly one business day as several people mentioned. I'm saving this thread for reference since I'm sure this will come up again with upcoming holidays like Labor Day and Thanksgiving.

•Same here! I'm bookmarking this thread. Really appreciate how everyone shared their experiences with holiday delays. It's so stressful when you're depending on that payment and don't know what to expect. The one-day delay rule seems pretty consistent across different holidays based on what people said here.
