TWC benefit payment delayed due to President's Day - normal deposit schedule?

I normally get my TWC unemployment deposit hitting my account every Monday around 5pm, but with yesterday being President's Day (a bank holiday), I'm wondering if the payment schedule changes? This is my first time dealing with a holiday while getting benefits. The TWC website doesn't clearly explain what happens with payment processing during holidays. Has anyone else with similar Monday deposit timing experienced delays when holidays happen? Just trying to budget for groceries and worried about when funds will actually hit my account.

Yeah holidays always mess up the TWC payment schedule! I went through this back in January with MLK day. Your payment will probably come through Wednesday morning instead. The banking system treats it like a Tuesday deposit because of the holiday, then adds the normal processing time. Frustrating when ur counting on it for bills!!

Wednesday morning?? That's rough. I was really counting on it for tonight. Do you know if there's any way to check the exact status of the payment through the TWC portal?

The payment request processing isn't affected by the holiday on TWC's side, but the payment delivery to your bank account is delayed because banks don't process ACH transfers on federal holidays. If you've already requested payment and it's been approved, TWC has already sent it, but your bank won't process it until today (Tuesday). Depending on your bank's policies, you'll likely see it either late tonight or tomorrow morning. This happens with every federal holiday throughout the year.

Thank you for explaining this! I've been calling TWC all morning to ask about it but can't get through. Is there a way to see on the TWC website if my payment has been sent already?

I've dealt with this several times during my unemployment period. Holiday payment delays are normal. Here's how it works: 1. TWC processes your payment request on schedule (if you requested on your assigned day) 2. The payment file gets sent to the bank system 3. Because of President's Day, banks don't process Monday transactions until Tuesday 4. Your bank then adds their normal processing time You can check if TWC has processed it by logging into your account at ui.texasworkforce.org and looking at the Payment Summary section. It will show "Payment processed" with a date, even if it hasn't hit your bank yet.

That's super helpful! I just checked and it does show "Payment processed" with yesterday's date. So I guess it's just waiting in the banking system now. Hopefully it posts tonight.

If you're struggling to reach TWC to check on your payment status, I recently discovered a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to an actual agent instead of waiting for hours. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh. I was skeptical at first, but it actually got me connected to a TWC agent in about 15 minutes when I needed to ask about a delayed payment. The agent was able to confirm exactly when my payment was sent to my bank.

Yes, it worked for me! I was desperate after trying for 3 days straight to get through. The TWC agent I spoke with confirmed my payment was in the system and explained the holiday delay.

The ENTIRE Texas unemployment system is designed to frustrate people! They deliberately make everything complicated and don't provide clear information about holiday processing times. I've been dealing with them for 4 months and EVERY time there's a holiday, my payment is delayed but they never bother to notify anyone! And good luck getting through on the phone to ask about it. They could easily put a notice on the website explaining holiday payment schedules but NO, that would be too HELPFUL!

So true! And it's not just holidays... they're impossible to reach ANYTIME. I spent like 6 hours last month trying to fix an issue with my work search logs and kept getting disconnected.

Just to follow up on my earlier comment - if you have direct deposit, most payments delayed by a holiday will arrive by Wednesday morning at the latest. If you have the TWC debit card, it can sometimes take until Thursday because there's an extra processing step with the card issuer. For future reference, here are the remaining federal holidays in 2025 that might affect your payment timing: - Memorial Day (May 26) - Juneteenth (June 19) - Independence Day (July 4) - Labor Day (September 1) - Columbus Day (October 13) - Veterans Day (November 11) - Thanksgiving (November 27) - Christmas (December 25

Thank you for that holiday list! I'm going to save it and plan ahead for those weeks. I have direct deposit, so hopefully it'll come through tomorrow morning like you said.
