TWC payment request during holiday - will it process Thursday or Friday?
So I finally got my unemployment claim approved last week and just completed my first payment request today (Monday). I completely forgot about the holiday tomorrow (Veterans Day). Does anyone know if TWC is closed for the holiday? Will my payment still process as normal on Wednesday, or will it be delayed until Thursday or Friday because of the holiday? I'm stressing because rent is due next week and I need to know exactly when the money will hit my account. This is my first time filing unemployment in Texas and I'm still figuring out how the payment schedule works.

TWC offices are indeed closed tomorrow for Veterans Day. Based on my experience, when holidays fall on payment processing days, it usually delays things by one day. So instead of Wednesday, you'll probably see the deposit on Thursday. Just make sure your direct deposit info is set up correctly in the portal. I've been through this rodeo a few times with TWC and holiday delays are pretty standard. Hang in there!

•Thanks for confirming! Glad to know it should only be a one-day delay. I did set up direct deposit when I first applied, but I'll double-check it's all correct.

•Oh no, really? 3 extra days would be tough. Did you have direct deposit or the debit card?

The official timeline is that payment requests made on Monday generally hit accounts by Wednesday (for direct deposit). With the holiday, Thursday is more likely, but I've occasionally seen it stretch to Friday during holiday weeks. It depends partly on your bank too - some banks hold ACH transfers longer than others, especially around holidays. If you're really worried about the exact day, you might need to speak directly with a TWC representative to get confirmation. Unfortunately, their phone lines are notoriously busy. I had luck using a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to a TWC agent within about 20 minutes instead of spending days getting busy signals. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh. Saved me a ton of stress when I was in a similar situation.

•Thank you for the detailed info! My bank usually processes direct deposits pretty quickly once they receive them. I might check out that Claimyr service if I don't see the deposit by Thursday afternoon - I didn't even know something like that existed.

NOBODY at TWC ever answers the phone anyway so good luck finding out! I requested payment on a holiday week back in May and didn't get my money until 5 DAYS LATER!!! They don't care if your bills are due or not. The whole system is broken!!!

•This is totally incorrect - TWC always processes payments on a set schedule. Holiday delays are typically only 1 day, sometimes 2 if it's a long weekend. Your 5-day delay was probably because of an issue with your specific claim, not because of their normal process. Please don't scare new claimants with misinformation.

To give you the most accurate information: TWC observes federal holidays including Veterans Day. The standard payment timeline is: - Request payment on Monday - TWC processes Tuesday - Funds typically arrive Wednesday via direct deposit With the holiday, the processing will happen on Wednesday instead of Tuesday, pushing your payment to Thursday in most cases. However, as others mentioned, some banks have their own processing times that can add a day. For future reference, it's good practice to request payment as early as possible in your request window to account for any potential delays like holidays. The TWC payment request calendar on their website shows all the upcoming holidays that might affect processing times. I hope this helps clarify when you should expect your payment!

•Thank you for the clear explanation! This is very helpful. I'll definitely make a note of the holidays on the TWC calendar for future payment requests. Sounds like I should plan for Thursday but be prepared for Friday just in case.

•You're welcome! That's exactly right - plan for Thursday but be prepared for Friday. And congratulations on getting your claim approved!

Is this your first payment request ever? If so, sometimes the first one takes a little longer even without a holiday. Mine took 4 business days for the first payment then was consistent after that. Make sure you keep doing your work searches too - I got flagged once for not entering enough work search activities and it delayed everything.

•Yes, this is my first payment request. Good to know the first one might take longer anyway. I've been keeping detailed records of my work search activities - doing 5 per week even though they only require 3, just to be safe!

anybody know if twc does direct deposit on weekends?

•TWC doesn't process or release payments on weekends. Their system only operates Monday through Friday on business days. If processing would land on a weekend, it gets moved to the following Monday.

To answer your original question - yes, you'll almost certainly get paid on Thursday. I've been on unemployment twice in Texas and Veterans Day always delays things by exactly one day. Don't stress too much!

Update: My payment just hit my account this morning (Thursday)! Thanks everyone for your help and advice. For anyone searching this in the future, the one-day delay prediction was exactly right.
