Waiting for direct deposit date after Labor Day claim - TWC holiday processing time?
Filed my unemployment payment request yesterday but just realized it was Labor Day. Now I'm stressing about when I'll actually see the money hit my account. Usually I can see a direct deposit date within 24-48 hours after requesting payment, but with the holiday I'm not sure if that changes things. Does TWC process claims on holidays? Will this delay when I get my money? My rent is due on the 10th and I'm cutting it close. Anyone know the typical timeframe when a payment request falls on a holiday?

TWC doesn't process payments on federal holidays, so your payment request from yesterday (Labor Day) will actually be processed today. You should see your deposit date show up in your account portal by tomorrow afternoon. The actual deposit usually takes 2-3 business days after the deposit date appears in your portal. So you'll probably get the money by Friday or Monday at the latest. You should be okay for your rent due on the 10th if everything goes smoothly.

•Thanks for the quick response! That helps a lot. Do you know if I can call TWC tomorrow if the deposit date doesn't show up in my portal? Or do I need to give it more time?

JUST A WARNING - sometimes the holiday can mess things up more than just a one-day delay!!! I had a payment request fall on July 4th and it got STUCK in the system for over a week!!! The TWC website showed it as "processing" for DAYS and no one could tell me why. I called literally 45 TIMES before finally getting through to someone who could help. They said sometimes the system gets backed up after holidays and certain claims get flagged for "review" for no reason. Not trying to scare you but just be prepared to start calling if you don't see movement in your portal by Thursday.

•Oh no, that sounds stressful! I really hope that doesn't happen to me. Did you have to do anything special to get it resolved or did it eventually just process?

•I had to talk to THREE different people before finding someone who could actually help! The first two just told me to "wait" which was NOT helpful when my rent was due! The third person finally did something in the system to push it through. So frustrating!

I worked for TWC for 8 years (retired in 2023) and can tell you that payment requests made on holidays do get processed the next business day. However, the direct deposit date showing in your portal is just when the payment is sent to the bank - not when it will be in your account. Most banks take 1-2 business days after that to make the funds available, though some are faster now with the new banking regulations. One thing to check: make sure your payment request was actually received by the system. Sometimes when people file on holidays through the automated phone system it shows as completed but doesn't actually transmit to the main system until the next day. You can verify this by logging into your account online and checking that your payment request shows as "received" not just "submitted."

•Thanks for the insider info! I just checked and my payment shows as "received" so that's a relief. Good to know about the difference between the deposit date and when it actually hits my account.

I've been dealing with TWC for months now and getting through to them on the phone is almost impossible! I wasted so much time trying to call about a payment delay similar to what you're experiencing. After days of frustration, I found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a TWC agent in less than 30 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh. I was super skeptical at first but it actually worked when I needed to resolve a payment that was delayed after Memorial Day. Just sharing in case your payment gets stuck and you need to talk to someone directly.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll keep that in mind if I end up having issues. I've heard the TWC phone lines are a nightmare, so it's good to know there's an option if I get desperate.

Has anyone else noticed that the TWC system seems to be running slower than usual this week? Not just for payment processing but like everything? I tried to update my work search log yesterday and the website kept timing out. Wonder if they're doing system updates or something.

•They're actually in the middle of a system update this week - it was mentioned in the fine print at the bottom of the homepage. Apparently they're upgrading the payment processing system through Thursday, which might cause additional delays or glitches. Just something else to be aware of.

•Thanks for mentioning this! I don't think I would have noticed that fine print. Feels like everything is working against me getting paid on time this week... ugh.

UPDATE: Just checked my portal and the deposit date is showing for tomorrow (Wednesday)! Looks like it was just a one-day delay due to the holiday. Thanks everyone for your help and advice. Hopefully the money will be in my account by Friday and I'll be all set for rent.

•Great news! Glad it's moving forward as expected. The system is pretty reliable once you understand the timing patterns.
